Roxana S. at TechCU is the reason I would send anyone opening a business account straight to her. We started the process for my business account in early July. Roxana followed up soon after by email with clear questions and a straightforward list of the documents she needed. I answered her questions right away and was able to send the paperwork about a month later. When I did, she spotted an issue involving my business partner, helped us clear it up, and told us we should be good to go. Compliance then needed a few more things addressed. Over about a week of back-and-forth, Roxana kept everything moving and kept the tone positive. A few more questions came up. More back-and-forth, and then we were done: the account was opened and funded on September 9. Through all of it, Roxana was responsive, cheerful, and encouraging. She treated every hurdle as something we would walk through together, one piece at a time, until it was resolved. I maintained accounts with several credit unions, including a couple of vehicle loans, and TechCU was the best one of them. Credit unions, at least in my experience, can be difficult to communicate with, have often ancient IT systems and Byzantine bureaucracy. TechCU did not seem to be affected by any of those ills. We have been a members of TechCU for over 40 years and have always had a good experience. Today we went to the credit union office to deposit a large check from an escrow company. We were helped by Josh Giovanetti. He explained that the check was made out to our trust so we couldn't deposit into our personal checking account. But after showing him the trust documents on my phone, he converted our checking account to a trust account on the spot. He then explained that a seven day hold would be put on the check. But since the account was now in the name of the trust, the escrow company would be able to wire the money to the account and there would be no hold. So we took the check back to the escrow company and had them wire the money, which showed up in our account a few minutes later with no hold. A great outcome thanks to Josh! read more

This review reflects my personal experience and opinions as a Tech CU borrower, supported by emails, certified letters, and third-party reports I've kept. While most of TechCU's ratings seem really positive, I would link through to the "reviews not recommended" below as they are very good about scrubbing their Yelp reviews and what you see may not be an accurate reflection of the credit union's service. In Aug 2022, I financed a SunPower solar system through Technology Credit Union (Tech CU). After installation, my roof began leaking. SunPower made multiple attempts, then said the repairs required a licensed roofer. Before that could happen, SunPower filed Chapter 11 and stopped handling my job. Since Sunpower's bankruptcy I have tried to communicate with Technology Credit Union to no avail. I have spent the last 7 months trying to reach out to first their bankers and local teams and eventually to their executive team. To date I have sent multiple certified pieces of mail, emails, left voicemails to each member of their executive team and have not received on call back. The only responses I have received back is when I have sent communication to the Department of Financial Protection and Innovation and one other generic letter from their legal team. That communication has been dismissive, doesn't answer the questions I pose, and is signed with a generic "Tech CU" signature with no contact information attached. This is my experience, it may not be yours. However if it's helpful here are some things I wish I had done upfront: Ask the lender (in writing) how they monitor the merchant's financial health and service capability, and what happens for customers if the merchant goes bankrupt. Confirm whether your finance agreement preserves your claims and defenses (e.g., FTC Holder Rule) and get the lender's written process for disputes, collections pauses, and credit reporting. If damage is suspected, obtain a third-party report early, and keep everything in writing (certified mail helps). I'm not saying what anyone else should do; I'm just sharing my documented experience: long delays, collections pressure during an active dispute, and a refusal (to date) to address my core questions about merchant risk and loan forgiveness despite evidence that the leaks were solar-related. The lack of communication from the executive team in particular is extremely concerning and does not reflect the company's mission of "WOWing" customers or their Mission of "communicating and working together." read more

I had been a happy customer of Tech CU for more than 10 years. Without warning, they ended support for integrations with tools such as RocketMoney, NerdWallet, Monarch... etc. They refuse to reconsider this choice. I am in the process of closing my accounts and moving my money to a bank that is not (ironically) technologically backwards. I cannot work with a bank that refuses to let me get access to my own data in a way that integrates with my other financial data. This was an unacceptable and extremely customer hostile decision. read more

Highly recommend TechCU! Free checking w/direct deposit. No fees for ATM's that you use at *any* other credit union! (Any other credit union.) Customer service is always on point. I also love their student accounts. Each of my children have one. I love how I am able to monitor while giving my kids independence & responsibility. (Also no fees for student account.) One of the main reasons I moved to TechCU many years ago was because they do not have any of those many many fees other banks have. TechCU is simply a better way to bank. They don't have traditional lobbies either. You sign in on an iPad then take a seat on a couch. When it's your turn, you're called up to a desk with privacy. No more standing in lines! read more
