I took it to a different repair shop and after about two months, my screen fell apart. Then, my video stopped working, then...nothing. I took it to a second repair shop and they literally didn't do anything with it. They held it for about two weeks and then said "we don't know how to fix it...". Um, you're a certified HP Tech... Anyway, the third time is a charm. Apparently the Spectre is a pain to fix, but it was no match for The Gadget Guys. It did take a few attempts, but after dealing with the first two shops, I knew it wasn't an easy repair. As if fixing it wasn't enough, they didn't even charge me extra for the overtime it took. Another bonus was I bought a $200 refurbished laptop to use while my Spectre was being fixed. I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend using them if you have any computer issues. (Except the HP Spectre...I think I ruined it for you guys)

I've always been a PC user and recently decided to join this century and purchased a MacBook Air (which I LOOOOOVE, incidentally). I had it just about three weeks before it had a major accident...a rendered unusable sort of accident that I can hardly speak of without getting mad all over again. I thought it was not salvageable. I ran to the Apple Store in tears asking for guidance, and oh how they steered me wrong. They recommended a place called Kroll Ontrak way down I66. I drove out there with my machine and left it with them for three days to "analyze it," for which they charged me $65. They called me back once it had been brought back from "the clean room," whatever that is, and told me that they had taken the liberty of beginning the downloading process. I thought that was all really considerate until they gave me the quote for this service. And I choked on it. It wasn't much really; they only wanted my mercedes and my first born child. And there was no room for negotiation. None. So I took back my computer, paid them for their so called analysis, and was on my merry way. I turned to Yelp and found MACS in Alexandria---what a stroke of luck that turned out to be! I called and spoke to Will (the owner). I told him about the fate that had befallen my beloved MacBook Air and his response was, "no problem, bring it in." He was able to salvage everything: years and years worth of files, some new software I had purchased and coincidentally lost the disks for, all my emails, bookmarks and photos! On top of all that, he was able to then file it all away properly on my new MacBook Air. There were no "clean rooms" and there weren't any sort of mysterious processes like Kroll Ontrak had described to me. The best part was that he didn't want my car or my kid, just $125. SO, so reasonable. Later that day I had logged in to my new computer and remembered a question I had meant to ask him about something else unrelated. I called and he offered to fix it for me by logging into my computer remotely using TeamViewer (my old company used to use that software so I was comfortable with this--I know how it works). Talk about customer service! It wasn't even related to the original problem, it was just a question about a functionality on my computer. He just whizzed right around on it and fixed it with no effort. He also pointed out a great mac tutorial site to me so I could learn how to use my computer more effectively. SO NICE! I will not hesitate to use Mid Atlantic Computer Solutions again in the future. They are GREAT!!!

After showing the guy my phone he quickly went to work and had the screen changed within 30 minutes. HERE IS THE PROBLEM..... After replacing it he shows me my phone which now has a message stating that it's not a genuine apple part. I ask him about it and all I get is "it's ok, it's, ok". Well it's not ok. My screen isn't working right, my battery (which I just finished charging) is half way after being on my phone for less than 20 min, and stuff that worked before EVEN WITH THE CRACKED SCREEN is no longer working. I went back the very next day to request a genuine apple part replacement and the owner basically says I'm stupid and everyone knows that you can only get apple parts from apple. NOT TRUE. I searched the internet and found a few places that do it. I'm most upset that the guy did not tell me it wasn't going to be an apple part. THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN MY DECISION, not theirs. I was planning to go back again to get another screen, after wasting almost $500. It's actually not even worth it. I want my money back. But the scam of an owner isn't going to do that. LapFix wasted nearly $500 and hours of my time that I will never get back. My screen was splitting…read moreapart that required replacement that cost over $350. LapFix ordered the replacement, only to be sent the wrong product. LapFix re-ordered a correct replacement and charged me over $100 for labor. The replaced screen only lasted 2 months before splitting apart again. I'm not a hipster that drags my laptop around town and park at coffee shops for hours, my laptop rarely leaves my home. When I returned to LapFix they plan to order from the same supplier and will charge me another $350 to replace the screen. I said no thank you, at this point I might as well buy a whole new laptop. Hey LapFix, maybe you should change suppliers, they're probably selling you refurbished crap.
