Thank goodness for Tech Way Auto Service's emissions services and especially for MOE! I came for emissions back in September and long story short, I didn't follow the rules exactly and ended up at the front of the line at 12:02pm - right before they were set to close for a few hours. Moe took pity on me and did my emissions test - despite my ignorance. He was so kind and generous and I told him "I'm going to write a review about this!" If you need emissions, forego the expensive kiosk and give Tech Way a visit. Emissions testing, always a headache. Thankful for Tech Way for making the process easy breezy! I had been to three places prior and the guy who did the testing at all those places was out, unfortunate timing. Tech Way got me in and out. I took the staff member up on the offer for them to register my car and get the license plate sticker same day from them for $5 extra. They even removed the stickers from previous years to get a nice fit on my plate. Definitely going back there in two years when it's time for another emissions testing! read more

I don't often review businesses, but my experience with Tech Way Auto in Saint Francis was so amazing I felt compelled to share my experience. I took my car in to have the brake pads replaced. When they started work on the car they found that all 4 of the calipers were rusted and locked up. Over the next 2 days they were able to free the calipers and then finished the pad, rotor, and sensor work. Throughout the process they did a great job communicating progress and the final cost was less than their estimate. What a great experience, they were friendly, honest, and great to work with. This place is fantastic for emissions tests. They do then between 9am and noon M-F; get there the earliest you can if you don't want to wait for an hour. I got there at 10am and there was a line across the street for testing. You do need to go inside to check in first and get your name on the list. Make sure you dont have anything scheduled for the morning because you will more than likely wait at least an hour; I listened to podcasts and played candy crush to kill the time. It was worth it because they can complete your online car registration and give you the paperwork and tags for your license plate, thus avoiding the dmv all together. This is my new go-to for emissions testing. Really nice and friendly staff too. read more

Been bringing my 20 year old car into Tech Way for 7 years now. This time, it was for an emissions test, brakes, & oil change. They are always friendly, kind, quick to finish, and do such a great job. They even have text reminders and online communication & RFQs now which is so convenient! I recently went to Tech Way Auto Service for an emissions test and an oil change, and while I was there, the manager Johnathan, uncovered that one of my struts in a very dangerous position and could have caused BIG issues for me. He brought me to my car and showed me that it was broken, and then did a full car review. My car is 13 years old and I've rarely replaced anything in that timeframe, but knew that I was definitely due for some fixing! Johnathan and his team were able to replace and repair a few different things on my car, and change my oil, all within the same day, and were able to quickly get my emissions tested and my car license renewed. The manager even drove my car himself to test that everything worked correctly (I know this because my car radio was set to a different station and my seat height was adjusted!!). Throughout the entire process, Johnathan and Justin were extremely communicative, very kind, and super helpful. I trusted them with my car and I'll certainly be back for any other car service work! I stopped here for an emissions test after going to the dealership where my car had "rejected" the test a few days prior. At the dealership where I had previously gone I had spent about 45 minutes waiting for the test in the lounge, and then another 10 minutes fighting to get out because they had parked me in. Here at Tech Way, I rolled in at 3pm on a Friday afternoon, and I'd passed the test by 3:10pm and was on my way. They had me pull up, park, put the drivers widow down, restart the car, step aside, and then hooked it up for the test right away. Service tech was friendly and helpful. Made an appointment, the guy behind the front desk introduced me to the technician and the whole test took less than 10 minutes. The staff were pleasant and courteous! There's nothing exciting about an emissions test (assuming it passes!) but it was a necessity and the guys at Auto Tech were awesome! read more

This review is on behalf of my father and his recent experience. He had some work done on his Buick there and about 3 days afterwards he noticed a rear hub cap missing. He called and was assured by the manager that the cap was put on and so surmised it must have flown off. He told my dad he would order a hubcap anyway. The following day he called to say that hubcap was no longer available. Long story short he ordered and installed a new set of hubcaps at no cost to my dad. To do that for a customer when they were sure they weren't directly responsible shows a quality of customer service that sadly is harder and harder to find. When I first moved to Saint Francis I decided to take my vehicles to Tech Way, because they were close. Their quality of work is satisfactory, but their prices aren't. I had them replace a clutch in one of my vehicles, and then found out a week later that several other shops would've down the job for half the price. Not long after having my clutch replaced I found out that I needed to have a timing chain replaced on a different vehicle. I got an estimate of $2,675 from Tech Way (6 month warranty). I decided to shop around because that estimate seemed a little expensive versus what other people have payed online, so as I was shopping around I found a dealership that gave me an estimate of $1,250 and a one year warranty for the same job. Needless to say I had the dealership perform the work, and I have never been back to Tech Way. read more

The guys at Tech Way are very reliable! My family has been going here for years and when I moved back from Chicago they recommended them to me. They're honest, reliable people that are also super friendly! Each time I go in I see Yaya and he always remembers me. I love the customer service. Also i think it's important to note that as a young woman I find it easy for mechanics to take advantage of the fact I have no knowledge of cars. My car was driven to this Tech Auto Way shop for emission testing of my 2018 vehicle. Gary was testing the vehicles.The vehicle was REJECTED under "readiness". He said the battery may have been removed recently so monitoring failed. He advised driving 100 miles and then retest. Odometer is very low. I drove 30, 35, 40 & 45mph for approx 30 mins the next day for retesting.and kept vehicle running as I waited. Vehicle PASSED. The testing is suppose to be free. I was offered registration with MVD at $125 & applying new plate sticker. The copy of registration stated fee was $115. I joked about the retesting & stated I should buy Gary a beer. He suggested a brand and I decided one 6pk for all of them to share. I picked up two cases (4 bottles ea case @ $7 ea case). I drove back to the shop to drop off the thank you gift. I reiterated to Gary it was for all the men to share. I telephoned the next day to hear how the gifts were received. Gary answered the call and stated he had finished one carton. I asked if he hadn't shared the cases. He said, "None of them drink beer!" I was furious at Gary laughing. The men may not have been aware I bought them each a beer. I will not take my vehicle back to Tech Way Auto Service because of flippant advice and mistrust of that one employee. read more

The front end of my car was making noise and I knew the sound--my passenger-side front wheel bearing was failing. Since Tech Way is open Saturday mornings, I took my car in (first visit to Tech Way), told them about the issue, and they gave me a ride home. They called a short while later to tell me both front bearings were bad, that a front brake caliper was stuck and that a tie rod was very loose and should be replaced. I okayed the bearing work but told them to hold off on the other repairs. My bill was over $900. I later learned from the previous owner that the driver-side bearing was replaced a month before I purchased the car from him (6 months before my Tech Way visit), and a subsequent visit to a trusted Bayview brake/exhaust shop for a front brake job disclosed that neither of my front brake calipers were bad and all my tie rods were tight and working well. BEWARE of this garage--if my experience is typical, they will try to sell you work that doesn't need to be done. My most vivid memory is the "sucker" smile on the face of the guy who took my credit card when I paid them. read more

Although they have fair prices, timely service and adequate work. Someone there is a THIEF! I left a pair of brand new aviator sunglasses in the car when I dropped it off. When I picked it up the next day they were gone. They assured me that no one there took them, but I had just bought the glasses and had placed them, in plain sight, under the radio where I always keep glasses before I dropped it off! Wanting to give them the benefit of doubt, I did a thorough search of the vehicle that did not produce the missing glasses. Of course it's possible that someone that doesn't work there took them when no one was looking, but it's unlikely. I won't go back and advise anyone that does use them to not leave anything of value in their vehicle. read more

I truly thought good old fashioned customer service was a lost art. Took our car in for a new starter. Brought home the same day. That night wouldn't start. Called them in the morning and the owner himself came to the house to diagnose the problem. Yup, defective part--it happens. Had it towed back and within 2 hours got a call that it was done. All this on a Saturday. He actually called this morning to make sure there were no more problems. You just don't see that kind of service anymore! And reasonably priced! Clean shop (smells like a dealership when you walk in, which I mean in a complimentary way), friendly customer service and solid repair work. My mother-in-law was recently in town during a cold snap when her car wouldn't start. After a quick tow to Tech Way, we had a diagnosis within two hours despite a heavy work load that day due to (you guessed it) lots of other cars not starting in the -5°F conditions. We got a reasonable price for a battery replacement, spark plug repair and labor, and the car was ready before closing that afternoon. Maybe a little more than do-it-yourself work, but for the convenience considering the conditions that day, I wasn't complaining and I doubt a dealership would provide a better overall price. They even replaced a dirty cabin air filter at no charge. And....they left my mother-in-law with the old filter and spark plug so she could approach the crack mechanic back in her hometown whom she had taken the vehicle to for a "tune-up" prior to driving to Wisconsin. Yeah, some tune-up that was. The guy probably just charged her $200 for the car to sit in his lot all day. You won't have that problem at Tech Way. Some places just give you a good vibe the moment you walk in and this was one of them. And they backed that up with excellent service. read more
