I HIGHLY RECOMMEND RICK'S CAR CARE!!! I was visiting from California for the weekend when I discovered a nail in the tire of my rental car. The rental company wanted to charge me for a tow and a full tire replacement, talk about stressful! It was a Saturday and most shops were either closed or too far away. I found Rick's Car Care on Yelp and saw they were listed as open until noon. When I arrived, there was a sign on the door saying they were actually closed on Saturdays. I decided to knock anyway, and I'm so glad I did! To my surprise, a gentleman named Jimmi answered the door. After I explained the situation, he graciously offered to take a look at my tire, despite being closed for the day. He quickly assessed the damage and was able to fix it with a simple plug. Not only did Jimmi go out of his way to help me, but he also treated me fairly and didn't try to overcharge me just because I was from out of town. The whole repair was fast, VERY affordable, and I was back on the road in under 10 minutes. Jimmi was an absolute lifesaver! His kindness and willingness to help a stranger truly made my day. I was given a quote over the phone on how much the work on my car was going to cost. The morning when I dropped off the car for the repairs, I confirmed once again the cost. When I went to pick up my car, I was told a different final price and he said it was due to taxes. Even factoring in the sales tax, the final total was $20 over what it should have been. This place apparently likes to change the final cost from the other reviews submitted. Very disappointed. I thought I found a good place to go to for car repairs but I guess not. read more

Don't go to this place for emissions. Huge lines and they shut down one hour before they are suppose to close. I was there 3 times and they shut me down in line after I had been waiting for 30 minutes. And the guy told me to get there earlier. If they are this bad with emission testing...I can't imagine what they will do to service your car. Good luck. read more

Took my car in for a service, said they checked everything didn't oil change regular stuff. Got up the next morning and my car wouldn't start. Electricity kept fluctuating all over the place. read more

When you get your emissions checked and they ask for if you want to pay for renewal of license plates, they will change you an extra $15. They did not make this clear to me when asking if I wanted to pay them. read more

Business Review: Amazing service! I was visiting family in the area when I noted one of my tires was deflating. I called Rick's, and even though they were very busy and set that as an expectation, they fit me in. Easy enough to drop off my car for them to inspect my tires (initially they thought I wanted to wait, and seemed relieved that I could drop off). A few hours later, I received a call saying they'd plugged my tire and I could get it before the end of the day. They also talked to me about where my tires were on the tread spectrum and made sure I understood how important it would be to prepare for winter based on that information. Picked up my car and they only charged $25 for the plug! Again, amazing service and a great price. Highly recommend the place for service, timing, and price! COVID Review: This would be a full five stars for the business experience, but in these times of COVID, the entire lack of masks for any of Rick's staff --even though the four customers in the waiting room wore masks--is a severe customer interaction oversight. Not only are Rick and his crew talking with customers and handling their keys, but they are getting into people's cars, which are safe havens. Getting into my car and realizing someone who could be carrying COVID was inside previously is upsetting. read more

nice local shop that offered emissions testing. only seem to have one "garage door" to do emissions testing, so a line gathered a bit during prime time Saturday morning hours, but they worked pretty quickly (~10 min per). staff was incredibly pleasant and kind. would definitely go back if I ever needed other service on my car. read more

I decided, as a result of COVID-19, to move as many of my services to my local community as possible and this place is on my daily dog walk. I called and made an appointment to drop my car off but had to suddenly change the appointment when my dog got sick. Rick's accommodated me and allowed me to get my service work while getting the dog treated right up the street from their shop. I was so appreciative. As others have noted here, Rick's did not take advantage of my lack of car knowledge. They were friendly and only did work I needed done at a very reasonable price. I, like many others, will be taking my car back to Rick's versus driving through Milwaukee to get to the dealership where I purchased the vehicle less than 3 years ago. I am always going to take my money where people treat me with respect and dignity and Rick's did both on a day when it really mattered. Thank you and see you next time! read more

I was visiting my sister who lives in the area. My car was struck by something from a truck driving in the narrow construction lane next to me on the highway. The panel of my left rear wheel well was partially torn away, and I was terrified to drive back to northern IL with it in that condition. My sister had nothing but good things to say about Rick's, so we drove straight there. Jim, the manager, took a look at my car and knew exactly what to do. He and his mechanics took care of it quickly, and were so kind to me and my young son while we waited. Everyone with whom we interacted was friendly and knowledgeable. Went here for an oil change and a few other things recommended by my owners manual. At first I was disappointed with the quote they gave me, oil change was more expensive than you drive through chain places (ie; valvoline). But I quickly learned there is a reason why. I received a call that said a few of the things I requested were not required and he recommended against-saving me hundreds! I know nothing about cars and they could have easily taken advantage of this lack of knowledge. Instead of trying to sell you unnecessary things like the chains do, this place gives you honest suggestions of what your car needs. Honesty is such a hard thing to find and I really appreciate it. So much so that now I will only go here! Oil change was fast and the new windshield wipers I got are amazing. Thanks Ricks I will be back. read more

Did a good job on brakes, then had a loud banging nose in the rear end when going over manhole covers, etc. Stopped back in ONLY to have them put it up in the air (lift) and take a look.
