A while back, I contacted Chipheads for a comparison quote on the replacement of a laptop keyboard and frame after a water spill fried a touchpad. The first place I had visited for a quote was a lovely one-man shop that quoted me $300 minimum for the repair - and that was with full awareness that I'd already purchased my own replacement parts and therefore all cost on his part was purely labor. He also communicated clearly that accessing the keyboard area required moving multiple parts he was not entirely familiar with and laughed that he would have to give me the $2000+ laptop he'd tried to sell me if the repair didn't go well. I left the establishment unconvinced of his capability to fix my also $2000+ design powerhouse that had not left my side since I got her. Enter Chipheads. I contacted via the general email address on the website, outlining the general situation and requesting a quote. Chipheads teammate Scott responded, and the quote he gave was comparable. I then emailed to confirm that I'd ordered the right parts before making the decision to put my laptop basically in the hospital right before I was going to be gone for a full two weeks, so I wouldn't be able to get her back even if the parts were wrong and repairs could not be done. Scott never responded to that email, and I had to leave for my out-of-town event. When I'm home, I rely on my laptop heavily, so dropping off when I'm not occupied with an event is not ideal. When another long event came up on my schedule, I contacted Chipheads again, this time creating a new email thread directing back to the general email address - the previous thread had directed to Scott's email address after we connected. I admit that I was hoping that I would connect with Jarret this time, and I did. He responded not only quickly but also giving me the option of a two-week repair period for less than $200. I'd be occupied with my event for exactly that amount of time anyway, so this was perfect. When I arrived the day before my event started, Jarret was with another guest. Both the impression that the first shop had given me about the delicate nature of my repair and my own experience in tinkering with laptops and electronics in general added to why I specifically waited to speak directly with Jarret given the impression of reliability he gave me in our correspondence. I dropped my laptop off with Jarret the day before my event started. Less than 48 hours later, he called to let me know that my laptop was ready for pickup. That was back in August. I specifically waited to ensure that the laptop was in perfect working order before leaving a review. It's now October. Safe to say, my laptop is in good health. Dropping one star for Scott dropping the ball on communication. Regardless, I'd wholeheartedly recommend Chipheads for your repair and upgrade needs.

    This is also the address for Best Buy HQ…read more Buyer beware! Best Buy will send you a used item even though you purchased it as new. Purchased a pull down TV mount for over the mantle and installation services for it. The mount arrived late (please stop using FedEx) and the package for the mount is covered with tape and stamps that say "Inspected by Best Buy" which tells me this item is used. I paid almost $400 for a new one. There are no items nearby that exactly match this for an exchange and they cannot ship me one to get here by tomorrow. I cannot delay the installation any longer. So, I said I'd keep the item if they refunded me $50 due to it being used. They refused. First agent said the max they could offer was $19. Literally four agents later and over an hour... I am told the max they can offer me is $37. It's about more than just the compensation. It's the inconvenience of the situation. It's the potential shady business practice trying to possibly slip one by a customer who's having someone else install it. It's the stress now of hoping all the pieces are there and that it functions as new. So, buyer beware! They will send you a used item even though you purchased it as new.

I have been sick so I contacted the chat support on 8/9 being a "total" member, they issued a replacement to be shipped 8/14 and sent me a return label to ship the defective one back. I shipped the defective one back 8/10 promptly. I wake up 8/12 being told my case was closed and they canceled my replacement because I already revived one. They keep reverting to the 7/31 purchase even though it's clear that a replacement was ordered on 8/9. They're refusing to give me a refund. City bank was not refunded $128.06, and the gift card/store credit I used in the amount of $195.57 was pocketed by Best Buy. They refused to reissue that, claiming that I already got a soundbar delivered. They refuse to look at any notes on the account, or the case ID number which states exactly what's going on. The return tracking shows it's in transit to them. They continue to refuse to issue my refunds telling me to call back in 10 days. What for? Why 10 days? Nobody can explain this. After almost an hour of anger and frustration I filed a BBB complaint and I'll be filing internet fraud complaint, for FRAUD/THEFT. You don't get to keep people's money, because you're too damn incompetent to look up the notes in the account. Not to mention having someone laugh at me while they sit behind a desk at home is absolutely absurd. What's the point of being a "total" member when you get treated like crap? OH YEAH, NO EMAIL FOR REFUND BEING ISSUED, JUST THE CANCELATION AND CASE BEING CLOSED. REFUND MY MONEY BEST BUY. (For obvious reasons I blocked out sensitive data in my proof below)

Now I know what you are thinking, I didn't have a choice of locations. I did. Three years ago for a different phone, they took care of me. With that said, I am happy to say this was my second satisfied experience. This location is north of HYW494 in a court of shops, businesses, and restaurants on Lyndale Avenue. My phone is complicated, so normally these questions are asked. Did you drop your phone? No. Was it dropped in a liquid? No. Was there anything you did to break your phone? No. It was simple, my screen cracked about 1 inch from the bottom of the fold of the phone. After filing my claim and taking it to be fixed, the uBreakiFix team confirmed the status of my phone and said this would be taken care of. I know this was a long-winded story to make sure John and Christian (uBreakiFix experts) are taken care of. Because of them, my experience was spectacular. They were kind, patient, thorough, experienced, etc. Also, they sent me a personal text with the status of my phone and when it was fixed. When I arrived to pick up my phone, they were happy to see me and explained what they did to fix my screen. I know this sounds unreal. Why would they show so much care? I don't know.
