I'm laughing at the 2 negative reviews. Sounds personal to me. I've used Tech Auto for many years. I even strayed at one point due to a scheduling conflict but Todd is the only one you need bring your car to. A few summers ago, while traveling back from NY, my muffler started to make a loud noise as I was heading over the Throgs Neck Bridge. It was a Saturday. I knew I could bring the car to one of the chain places to get an estimate. They quoted me $500 to replace the muffler. I went to Todd on Monday and he repaired the problem for $250. His staff is knowledgeable and he always goes over the repair with you in detail. Obviously, they're doing something right over at Tech Auto. On any given day, you will find the lot packed with cars that have either been repaired or waiting to be repaired. I just had my front and rear breaks replaced and my ac repaired. Not sure about the negative reviews, especially the one hinting at racism. Maybe the person writing the review was having a bad day. I have been using this business for well over a decade. Todd has always been the type of mechanic one dreams of; fair, professional and HONEST. What mechanic actually tells you if something does NOT need fixed and saves you $$$$$? I have an older model car and Todd has always been wonderful! The only problem with Tech auto is that perhaps they need a front desk person because they are so very busy. I was introduced to this mechanic through my roommate who has an old BMW. Since then, I have used Tech Auto for years no matter it is oil changes/routine check or tire/brake pad change, etc. Todd and his stuff always take care of my car very well. Todd is patient and honest. He will explain the problems of the car but will not let you spend extra money on unnecessary update/fix. They also care the clients too! Many times, I came to store in the early morning, he help asked if other clients can give me ride back to Downtown New Haven. Todd is fantastic! I brought in my '05 Subaru after having a horrendous experience at Pep Boys. Upon dropping off the car, Todd immediately took it for a test drive with me to make sure that he understood the problem. I dropped the car off a few days later and the repair work was fantastic. It is hard to describe how great Todd and his crew are in their shop. He is the best mechanic I've ever dealt with. I am not a car person, nothing to do with cars and could have been easily ripped off by other mechanics or even by Todd, but he would never do this. He is always looking at the car at your standpoint. I am student with very limited budget. He always tells me the truth, how he sees the car, he can tell me a fair estimate and time on the fixing as well. I got my Honda 2000 broken down on the Hutchinson Hwy and paid 250$ to get it towed to the closest yard, then on the next day with my friend I took it to an old mechanic. The car was dead and he was able to bring it back to life, but just could not make it go. Then after taking it back two times to the old shop I was able to move it to Todd. He heard what the problem was with the car. He estimated the charge on this, fixed it, had to replace the exhaust system. Then the car had still no power. Todd put whatever hours needed to fix my car and figure out what the problem was. On Saturday afternoon!! I got a call from him, that he fixed my car and it runs just like new. He personally took care of my car and did not let it just go as it is. He worked on the car until he fixed it, because he promised that he was going to fix it. And on the top of that he stayed on the budget he promised. I just cannot tell you how happy I am. I am confident that Todd is fair and honest, and on more than one occasion he actually discouraged me from getting work done that he deemed as unnecessary. However, I've had to move on to another mechanic because it's extremely difficult to get in touch with Todd. Every time I dropped off my car he told me that he'd call me with a diagnosis, but he rarely did. I almost always ended up having to make multiple phone calls to find out what was up with my car, and on a couple of occasions I had to leave my car at Tech Auto for an extra day or two because I couldn't get in touch with Todd. (Out of desperation, I actually drove our second car to Tech Auto two or three times so that I could find out what was up with the car he was working on.) In addition, Todd didn't always fix everything that I had requested even though I eventually started to supply him with a typed list of things that I wanted done. read more

Have you ever called a repair shop, explained the problem, and been confidently told "come right in and I'll tell you whats wrong with your car"? That is the response I received from Todd today when I called in panic over the craziest noise I have ever heard a car make coming out of the front end of my wife's Subaru. It was a considerable relief to just get the car seen on same day after the typical wait I have become accustomed to on repairs through the dealership. I arrived at Tech Auto about 20 mins later. Todd knew it was me when he heard the car pull up and already had the tool in hand that he thought would do the job. Keep in mind this is a very busy auto shop and Todd was not just standing around with nothing else on his mind - he personally attended to 2 other cars and another customer ahead of me within about 10 minutes of the time I arrived. He quickly got to my car, fixed the problem, and when I asked what I owed him he said "nothing, this is community service". In the end it was a simple fix, but the time, trouble, and potential cost (I was ready to have the car towed to Subaru in Wallingford) Todd saved me was invaluable. All the positive feedback on Tech Auto is spot on, a truly exceptional shop. I've gone to Tech Auto for 5-6 years. I went at first from a recommendation from a friend and have not been disappointed. Todd and his staff are professional and do a great job. I never hesitate to trust what Todd says. I have a 2007 Mazda and a couple years ago was going on a trip to Ohio. I asked Todd to let me know what he thought I should do to the car before I went. I expected him to give me a list of things that needed done and he changed the oil and that was it. He could have tried to get me to spend a lot of extra money but nope, not Todd. A couple summers ago my parents came to visit. They were driving an RV and the brakes went out while they were here. Midas wanted $3000 to fix the brakes. We took the RV to Todd and he did the job perfectly for less than $500. Again, he had the opportunity to bilk my parents out of money but he didn't. I would recommend Tech Auto to anyone! read more

Tech Auto is absolutely the most honest, most trustworthy and highest quality auto repair shop my wife and I have ever experienced. I bought a used vehicle from an owner without realizing a leak from the brake system of this vehicle. On my way back, the brake fluid were all gone and the brake completely stopped working, which almost killed me and hurt other drivers on the road! Luckily I managed to stop the vehicle on the grass land right beside the road without hurting anybody. The vehicle was towed to Tech Auto and the owner inspected it. He found that the areas underneath the vehicle were extremely rusted and a brake line was installed in an illegal way, causing the vehicle extremely dangerous to drive. The life threatening situation can happen anytime when I drive this vehicle. So he suggested me to return this vehicle with defected brake system to the owner and ask for the refund. He didn't even charge me anything for inspecting the vehicle. My wife and I thank him and his fellow a lot for their professionalism, expertise, honesty and high quality job. I will definitely recommend Tech Auto to any friends and people that need automotive service. read more
