Last night I accidentally drove into a ditch, my phone was inactive but I remembered it still…read moreallows emergency calls. After calling the police for help, they called this tow company. Although the location of the tow company was less than 3 miles away, it took almost an hour for the tow truck to arrive. Then I explained to the tow driver only the front left tire fell into the ditch, but the other 3 tires are still on the road. So I asked him if he could simply pull my van backwards a few feet to free the front left tire from the ditch, and I will just drive my van home. And I would pay him for gas and time there. But the tow driver demanded that he has to tow it and I must pay the full price. I asked him how much it would cost? And (he lied to me and said at that time $180), which was already (more than double the price of the average tow company". But being stuck in the ditch at 4am I just wanted to get home at that point so I agreed to it. The tow driver did a terrible job of removing my van from the ditch. It was obvious the left front wheel was stuck under a metal plate and his tow truck was struggling to pull my van backwards. And instead of trying to use a jack to raise the wheel and free it from the steel plate, the tow driver (continued to force it until the tire exploded!) And because the tow driver drove it on and off the tow truck with the flat tire, it also (damaged the rims). There was (no attempt by the tow driver to apologize for damaging the tire) and he (pretended to act like nothing happened!) I was lucky the police officer at the scene also witnessed how the tow driver damaged the tire. And the officer helped give me a case number to contact the insurance company to explain what happened and they should cover the damages. When we arrived at my home the (total price the tow driver told me earlier had changed from $180 to $249!!) My house was less than 3 miles away from where it was towed and it took the tow driver only 20 minutes to free the car and tow it to my house. And I asked the tow driver why the price is soo expensive? He made the excuse that he has to use the price rate given by the Department of Justice. I don't know if he was telling the truth about those rates or lying about the rate to rip me off. But I feel that any company that is (ok with charging customers over triple the price of normal rates is a very dishonest company). If you read the other 4 reviews about Legend Towing on the yellow pages website, you will see all 4 reviews are also 1 star reviews and are filled with complaints. https://www.yellowpages.com/nationwide/mip/legacy-towing-464914064 When it was time to unload my van from the tow truck, (the tow driver was very rough). He had moved the ramp or platform the van was on to a very steep 90 degree angle when he was lowering the van. And as with most driveways it is slanting uphilll towards the house. So when the front of the van reached the driveway it scraped very hard against the driveway. All the driver had to do was use a lower angle to avoid the front of the van scraping on the driveway. But it was clear the tow driver (really doesn't care about damages to vehicles) while he works. I'm lucky it wasn't my van but my dad will contact them later to complain about the damages and get reimbursed for the tire and rim.
