He and his crew are amazing. We wanted to find a refurbished old instrument and Brandon had several options for her to try out and was so knowledgeable, helpful, and patient through the whole process. He let her test them all out in the shop and then she was able to bring one home for a few days to further "test drive." After another round of testing and comparison in the shop and our daughter's choice was made, we needed the pads replaced. Brandon did that and cleaned the whole instrument up beautifully so it looks like new. We are so excited about the new clarinet and so grateful to the team at Blue Note B's for their help.

I went in with my wife to pick it up, told the guy I was doing some classical guitar and I got an on the spot private tutor lesson lol. It was pretty awesome. All of the suggestions The guy had for me as a new guitar player were perfect. He recommended me a good book to start with. How to properly hold a guitar, etc.. I know things are cheaper on the Internet, and the two things that he recommended to me were definitely cheaper, however, you can't get this type of service from Amazon .

This past weekend I was going to breakfast down the way, and had some time to kill with the wait so wondered on down. This is a GREAT local music shop with small venue in the back. So many instruments and a very cozy/warm atmosphere. The converted house is the perfect building for this type of business. The owner (or one of them?) was quick to greet us and show us around the place. I tried out a couple of vintage instruments when I was there and he was very knowledgeable and informative about what I was playing. Looking forward to coming back for a live performance at sometime. They seem to have routine jam sessions as well as touring musicians stopping by the place.

My ukulele developed a small crack, and needed repair. At the same time, how lucky to be in a town where a skilled luthier is on hand! Wesley at Strings of Reno (new name of the business) offers free estimates, and when I explained the problem, he gave a very detailed explanation of why humidity control is important and some immediate suggestions on how to manage it in a practical way. His estimate for repair was reasonable, and turnaround time was 3 weeks. Great to know if I need a new setup or adjustment he's nearby! His workshop, by the way, is pretty cool. You can see his tools and an array of instruments and some retail from the customer counter. TIP: From the street, go down the shared driveway/alley and park in the center when you see the "Strings of Reno" sign.

To start I had a rudimentary knowledge of the guitar with zero music theory and this is where Michael was a lot of help. He certainly has a path and knows of all the pitfalls that most students fall into.. He has the patience to course-correct and go back and review again if I'm just not getting something. Yes, all the lessons hinge upon what was learned prior, so he certainly makes sure you're getting it. This is a very good thing, though ya, you have to practice! If we've had a couple weeks of laborious, tedious learning, he can understand that and we shift a little to more fun songs that we all know and then relates it back to the theory that I'd been fumbling on. Understanding WHY a guitarist plays a certain solo, and how it applies to what I've learned is the most informative and coolest part.
