Once in a blue moon, when I get a sweet tooth and I'm down in the Newport Beach/Balboa area, I love…read morestopping by Milk & Cookies for a treat. My go-to flavors are the white chocolate macadamia, oatmeal raisin, toffee crunch & lemon blueberry cookies. A single cookie is $2.75, which IMO, is a pretty fair price these days ~ especially since they're a generous size. Since everything is baked fresh daily, the cookies are always soft, fresh and absolutely delicious. It's cool that they offer handmade ice cream and different flavored farm fresh milks, as well. The only downside is the parking situation ~ it can be a bit of a challenge. IYKYK :/ That's pretty much the only reason I don't visit more often. I usually stop by only when I'm already in the area grabbing a meal or hanging out nearby. On every visit, the staff has been friendly, and the shop is always clean and welcoming. All in all, if you're looking for a tasty dessert while you're in the area, Milk & Cookies is worth checking out! RxFoodie recommends!!!

The Order: * My Go-To: I highly recommend the chocolate chip cookie with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on top. * Variety: They have every flavor of milk, ice cream, and cookies you could want. Timing & Atmosphere: * Avoid Weekends: I would not recommend coming here on a weekend. The store is tiny, and because it's right next to all the bars, the area gets crowded with a lot of drunk people. If that isn't your scene, stick to a weekday visit. * Rewards: It is quite expensive, but it's a nice treat. Plus, you can sign up with your phone number to get discounts for future visits. The Parking Situation: * Virtually Non-Existent: There is no parking lot, so you are stuck looking for small spots along the side of the road. * Accessibility: There is no designated handicap parking, so keep that in mind if you aren't prepared to walk a bit from a side street. Final Verdict: It's a perfect weekday spot for a warm dessert, just be prepared for the peninsula parking struggle!

The service is always great, the baristas are always super friendly and take the time to chat with customers. They even remember the names of their customers dogs when they come in! It just seems like the negative reviews on here are harping on the service, but I don't understand how you can expect someone to jump for joy when you go into their facility if you aren't willing to bring the same energy. Regardless of them being in their place of work, don't expect what you don't give yourself. Sorry if it's a hot take! Side note, the coffees great. The beans they use have great flavor and if you want something stronger, get an extra shot. If you don't know how to order a coffee just say that. Their product is exceptional and I'd consider myself a coffee snob. If you're going into a place with great product and ordering something that's predominantly sugar and you don't like it, that's more of a user error.   It's not Starbucks. Order a real coffee and you'll get a real coffee. All and all, I've never had a bad experience here and coffee is incredible. Love the team and the coffee just the same. Hope this helps!

Either way it has some appeal and worth a stop so you can pass judgment for yourself. I rate it a 5 for convenience, service and proximity but because I value good coffee so much I have to rate the overall experience a 3 because the quality of the Coffee was just not there- I had a double shot latte and it seemed weak to me and had more of a watered down taste; I had two or 3 sips and threw it away . if you want superior coffee then walk a mile to Lido and visit Herst Coffee!!

I'm Filipino and was tickled to hear about the flavors...Ube Pandesal Toffee, Banana Turon Crunch & Mango Sticky Rice. We tried the Ube Pandesal Toffee and I'm quite amazed how they were able to capture that unique flavor. I grew up with making an "ice cream" sandwich by putting ice cream in a pandesal and tasting this just unleashed a core memory of being young and making an ice cream sandwich that way. We will definitely be back to try the other flavors! When we arrived there was a few people in line and when the line grew a bit, I think it was a manager that stopped what he was doing to jump in and help with customers which I thought was very considerate of him to do. Lastly, the location was charming and tucked away in the corner of the plaza. It had a few tables outside and in the adjacent Pop Pie shop to sit for a few minutes to enjoy the ice cream! It's nice to support a small businesses that cater to the community! Good luck to the Stella Jean family...wishing you success! I'll be back for my Turon & sticky rice!

I got the frozen banana dipped in premium dark chocolate with peanuts and toasted coconut. It was the perfect frozen treat -- refreshing, chocolatey, and crunchy without being too heavy. Service was friendly too! I chatted with the guy who dipped my banana and asked if he enjoyed working there. He said yes and that it's a lot of fun, which was nice to hear. I also appreciated the wide container they serve the banana in, because toppings will definitely fall as you eat! I noticed Dad's uses a much narrower container, so this one made eating it a lot less messy. There was no line when I arrived, but around 6:30-6:45 PM, a big crowd showed up. They quickly opened a second window to keep things moving. Definitely worth a stop when you're on Balboa Island!

There's a bench across the window so you can kind of hang out there or walk up/down the fun little street while enjoying your treats which are served in separate paper boats for easy handling. Service was great. Pretty quick. You order from the window and they make your banana right in front of you. Then you pay. Easy peasy. Appreciated that they have a regular and dark chocolate option. And the number of toppings is excellent! We don't have anything like this in the SF Bay Area so I was in heaven! However, I do like my frozen bananas just dipped in chocolate with peanuts. Nothing fancy. Loved my banana! The hubby got the Balboa bar dipped in dark chocolate and peanuts. We enjoyed them both!
