They finally came and buried the cable. It only took 10 months and a complaint to the BBB. Now that my main complaint is resolved, their internet has been solid. We had TDS internet for 7 years and have had consistent drop outs and slow speed in Johnstown CO (despite having Gig service). We have also experienced billing SNAFUs on several occasions. Once Xfinity became available, I decided to cancel my account in early May 2026. I called and spent 2 hours on the phone and finally got a rep who told me they would send a return shipping box for the modem. That never came. I called again and was told they would ship out another return box - and it never came. Meanwhile, TDS charged me a $179 fee for equipment not returned. I found the local TDS office and delivered the modem in person. The employee said that my account had been adjusted to note the return. Today I received a bill!!! TDS is a crappy company that oversells service while shortchanging servers and infrastructure, and has the most customer unfriendly and convoluted business practices I have encountered. Avoid TDS at all costs. EVERYONE at TDS is incompetent, from the Techs who install to the customer service department, billing department, and even supervisors. Every employee has a far different answer from the previous one and then each employee simply states, "I don't know why the other employee would say that!" But then further messes up your account. I decided to switch to Trailblazer because TDS internet speeds were so slow and unreliable, especially in the evening. So much so that even one device could not stream Netflix or work from home using Zoom. After I cancelled, they made it incredibly difficult, even charging me for equipment with no grace period for returns and a convenience fee for paying over the phone because they removed my online account including payment gateway, even though I had one outstanding bill to pay. We have had TDS for three weeks and it's been nothing but issues and no help. Between internet being down and cable going out due to the internet being down or cable being out because it's windy (15mph winds), Yada Yada Yada. It's just ridiculous. And calling in..... TDS bought out the local cable company in our town. They started making upgrades that have supposedly improved our internet speed and cable choices. Since then we've had numerous outages while they make their upgrades. When you call to ask, the call center in who knows where says there are no report outages. So using Aps like Next Door, you soon find the entire neighborhood is out. And only have a dozen or so neighbors call will they do anything. Some outages are a few hours, while others have been 5 days. So the upgrades are now in place, we lost our TiVo as their equipment doesn't support it and they will roll out their DVR's (for rent) in a few weeks we were told. We haven't noticied faster internet but the cable feels like we stepped back 10 years with the TV guide and the cable boxes do not allow you to filter out the low def. channels. In their new packaging we lost channels we used to have in our basic service (assuming we'll have to pay more for those now.) I've always supported the local cable company, the owner was responsive and part of our town. But he sold out (don't blame him) but TDS is not a benefit to our small town. I'm not a fan of satellite but that may be our next choice. read more

Their existence is proof that there is no God. If he existed, he would strike them all dead! It took 1/2 a year to get set up initially. I pay for 1gbps and get, on a good day, 30mbps. When I call they tell me they will look into and report back. They NEVER do. The service drops at least once every day or two. Right now it's dropping 4-5 times a day. I have never once called when they weren't "experiencing higher than normal call volumes". I have repeatedly been lied to by customer service reps, but I feel sorry for the folks who work there. They always sound bedraggled. It's probably worse for them than for being a customer. And don't even get me going on the hold music. Nothing short of the worst provider on the face of the earth! TDS Telecom purchased our local internet providers franchise a few months ago. We were grandfathered into their service. Since then we have had nothing but slow speeds, prolonged (over 24 hours) and recurring outages, and we actually had to fight with them to pay a bill online. Today while I was working from home because my child was ill, the internet has gone out twice. We were with the previous provider for 10+ years and never had an experience like we have had in the last 2 months. One of the customer support staff called my husband who is very even-tempered crazy as she went to put him on holder earlier this week. They don't communicate with customers and have no remorse for the inconvenience their horrible service is for customers. I have never written a review before, until about an hour ago because my job requires I respond to customer reviews but this company more than requires a scathing review. read more

Finally an alternative to TDS!! After years of shoddy connectivity and service there is an alternative with Trailblazer Broadband and live streaming. When it rained, snowed, was windy, etc TDS Internet speeds would go down to double digits. Every time a call was made to customer service they would require time consuming troubleshooting before dispatching a technician. It was never an issue inside the house. Pixelating channels, random channels not available for days, you name it TDS is probably notorious for it. Now they have the nerve to start charging $2.99 due to "rising costs of providing high-quality service and support." Is that because they are going to start or think they are already providing it? And one last item: when planning your departure from TDS you should know they DO NOT prorate your bill so plan accordingly. Sad to say, this company is a rip-off but are few alternatives in the area. The $49.95 is a bait and switch. It jumps to $90/month afterwards for internet service only. Also they demand auto-pay. A guy named Maverick, I kid you not, was in charge of customer service in the tiny little office. It did not go well. Well, just like the other reviewers, I've had terrible experience with TDS. It took months to get my cable burIed, then another month for them to return and pick up the pull cable left strewn across my property. My internet has currently been down for 10 days. Although the person on the phone said he "checked his map and found no other outages in my area", my next door neighbor has been without service the same time period as me. Last week I saw a TDS contract crew working on a pole between my neighbors house and mine. These contract guys seem like they try, but when he called his TDS supervisor, they wouldn't give him permission to fix my service even though they were right there. The call-in experience is terrible as well: interminable hold, clueless staff, and evidently lack of any ability to address their service issues. read more

Can hardly ever connect to internet, and when you can connect, its pretty slow. For what they charge, you should expect much more.

They are not a good Cable service, however, you have little choice in the mountains. Their customer service is terrible, their website is worse & they cheat you out if money as much as they can. Walked into the local Estes Park office, and sat down with Don. We worked up my order, agreed to the pricing and then I paid my first month. When the tech arrived to install he said the amount of TVs was different then the agreement Don and I had made. I went back to the office to speak with Don, and was told that he could not honor the price we agreed to and that I paid for. TDS gave me a $6 credit for one month. This company has TERRIBLE customer service!!! UPDATE: I called customer support and spoke with Cole, a supervisor. He was extremely helpful, and changed the account to match the agreed upon pricing. Service not reliable, with either the modem or the router. Very frustrating, especially when you are in the middle of streaming.

If it were possible to give TDS 0 or even minus stars, that would not be good enough. AVOID THIS PROVIDER IF AT ALL POSSIBLE! We have had their "service" for over a year in a house built 3 years ago. Since moving in we have had internet fail several times a month, and many, many calls to correct this. On 12/11/19 we lost our internet for good. The day before Christmas, there was a catastrophic node failure, we lost cable and phone as well, and TDS received hundreds of calls. Engineers came to our house at least three times. We called in to report the ongoing failure on almost daily basis. Finally, on 01/02/19 all services were$ working again. But TDS billing says they have no record of our many many calls (denying the problems experienced by us an our 100+ neighbors) and have offered a $15 credit against a $150 monthly bill. This is simply theft. They demand payment for 90% of the days, but provided a service on only a quarter. Their systems and databases are disconnected, and incomplete. Their contract engineering staff are always very reasonable, but customer service, billing and management are absolutely appalling to deal with. GIVE UP HOPE ALL YE WHO PASS THROUGH THE TDS GATES. So like many, I have a security system (runs off WiFi) I have a Nest thermostat (runs off WiFi) my family decided no more cable and only stream. Well we are in a small town just outside of 4 big cities 500k and plus population. I pay for the 100mb package, trust me I wanted to go for the 600mbps but I'm happy I didn't. I barely get 100mbps on a good day, than these outages that last 12 hours? My house is hot, I have kids and dogs and I pay for all of this stuff. To not get what I am paying for is unacceptable but here's the kicker. The only internet vendor is TDS. I feel the internet was much better with Baja Broadband and the customer service was by far better. It's not my fault you can't offer what we pay you for. I hate leaving these but seriously, stop letting the CEO pocket all the money and reinvest in your business. This way you can offer people RELIABLE service! This day and age no one has an issue paying for good, fast, quality internet. If we get what we pay for, in my line of work I would be fired and drag through my profession if I was this reliable. We pay good money give it back to your towers and network. You don't need to make all that money knowing your company has a 1 star rating on yelp and google. Glad you have daddies money in the hamptons but us normal and regular folk bust our humps to have these little amenities. read more
