I took it to Sharp Transmissions because of the reviews and its a transmission shop. I work on my truck as much as I possibly can but dealing with repairing a transmission is out of my wheel house. I dropped off the truck in the morning and I got a call about 2 hours later. Milt told itme he had inspected the car test drove and it was not the tranny it was the power steering pump that had a small not noticeable leak but the fluid resevoir was almost dry and that was the noise I was hearing coming from the truck. He added power sterring fluid and solved the problem but let me know it something that will need attention down the road. I thanked him I picked up my truck later that evening. Drove the truck home ran like a charm. I will certainly take it to him again when I need work done. The AAA tow truck operator asked me where I wanted it to be towed, and I immediately said "Sharp Transmission." The dropped it off and put the key in the after hours slot. Next day,I called Milt and said, take a look and give me my options. No rush, I said, since I have other cars I can drive. Milt and his crew found some time to not only diagnose the problem (two rubbng hoses put a hole in one), but to repair the problem. Same day! I picked the car up this morning and it is working perfectly. Like I said before, if you are not taking your car to Sharp, you should start doing so. They charged 1 hour labor to change air and cabin filter (which jiffy lube changes in 3 minutes - literally). They charged a $70 waste-disposal fee so that $119 oil change apparently was $199. They charged for an hour of labor for a "200k checkup" which when pressed entailed "checking brakes and fluid levels". Another scam because the fluid levels were supposed to be part of the oil change - again, Jiffy Lube includes it. Total sham place that sells itself as a 'down home good ole earnest mechanics shop', but in the end it was exactly the sort of place to avoid. Watch out.

They are very fair priced and worth bringing your vehicles to whether it's for an oil change, gas fill ups, alignments, tire rotations or even new tires, new rotors/brakes, tuneups, suspension/steering work, any type of electrical issues or even for a NYS Inspection they are the shop to go! They are a very well-connected when it comes to part distribution shops in the area so they can easily access parts for your vehicle usually within 20 minutes of calling it in! They do occasionally accept walk-ins from time to time, but it's always better that you call ahead of time and make an appointment. You will always be guaranteed fast, friendly, courteous service from the crew over there! They also have some of the cheapest fuel prices for 87 octane gas, 91 Premium Octane Non-ethanol gasoline, as well as very fair priced diesel, and grill propane cylinder exchanges in the area! They also offer towing services if you get stranded or get into a crash! They only have 4 lifts but the crew usually pumps out over a dozen cars a day! I've been to both chains and mom-and-pop shops in the area, and have often left feeling the job wasn't done well (which later bears out), takes too long, and/or I've been overcharged for the service. This is not the case at Red Hook Auto--Joe's fantastic at his job, honest, and incredibly efficient. He also gives great referrals (body shops and such) if needed.
