Cathy and Hiral have been great and have lots of experience and were very reassuring. I love watching Hiral greet Quincy when he bounds in! (He sings his happiness in the parking lot!) I wondered how Quincy would do in a group setting with his diagnosed anxiety, and he is quieter and more tolerant of other people and dogs (and tired!) when he gets home. I think I got a different dog back! My three daughters watch Quincy on the Clifford camera in Charlottesville and Kentucky and Blacksburg (and I am a little embarrassed to admit how much time I spend watching!). The employees are always observing and cleaning and even petting. (I giggle when someone tries to sit for a moment because you get three or four dogs wanting to be pet!) The Dog Stop has been a blessing I didn't know we needed!

The staff is incredibly loving and communicates well with the pet owners. The dogs are kept on a strict schedule of playing in the communal playroom, getting walks, napping, eating meals, and going to sleep at night. I think the schedule really helps the dogs know what to expect at any time during their stay. I recommend having your dog go for a few days / half days of daycare prior to the first boarding visit as it helps the dog become familiar with the establishment, the routines and to know that they'll eventually go home again. I can't say enough about the staff! They're all very caring and pass along important information as well as comments about your dog that make you realize how much they interact and care about each and every dog in their care. I only wish I had found this establishment years ago!

He trained my boyfriend's one eyed pit-bull, sweet pea, to not want to eat my pup Louie. He is truly a dog whisperer and genuinely cares about all animals. He worked a miracle with an unsocialized dog. Over the years, we have stayed in touch - all about the dogs tho! He has helped when able with my Wolf Trap Animal Rescue fosters, I've included my Dalmatians in his church trunk or treat, and I've referred many friends to all of creation. My best friend's one year old beagle, Patton, starts wagging his tale of excitement when he pulls into the facility. I'm a little sad my dalmatians (1 and 12 years) don't even look back once they're taken away at the front desk - they are ready to play! He's very sweet but started to get rambunctious to the point that my remote work felt challenging. He also started jumping or freezing when he saw other dogs on walks, and he occasionally barked or growled and men. We weren't sure if it was the start of aggressive behavior or just the result of a shelter dog that hasn't been exposed. After doing our research, we decided to do the 3 week behavior modification board and train program. We were really impressed from beginning to end. They shared a ton of information upfront, walked us through their facility (we opted to drop him off) and sent pictures and updates every evening. It became clear right away that they both have a very deep understanding of dogs, as well as a real respect and love for them. Tuck loved them! The best part was the "transition" day when Perry brought Tuck back and spent the day teaching us everything they've worked on together. We are first time dog owners so generally going in pretty blind. Perry gave us a 101 on dogs and the importance of clear and consistent communication. He talked through all of the layers of training and how/why it is effective. We felt this part was SO helpful for us to understand how to be better owners. Then we walked Tuck around the neighborhood with Perry guiding us and then spent time addressing indoor behaviors too. He was flexible and stayed until we felt comfortable with everything. This is a long review so the TLDR: finding a trainer is a big decision and investment so we wanted to get it right. Brandi & Perry were really incredible and beyond our expectations!! Truly worth every penny! Tuck has been doing really great at home and outside since being home. The Webcam was also turned off several times, so now I'm worried that he was already sick there and they were hiding that from me. They did the checkup thoroughly and noticed that she may have an infection, then asking my permission for an ultrasound, which they recommended as the more budget-friendly option. It turned out they were correct and my doggo needed an urgent ovariohysterectomy for pyometra. Even kinder from the vets was that they offered to take her in the day of, but that there were budget-friendly options in case. I have been in and out of other surgeries for family and I really appreciated this gesture. Would highly recommend to anyone as these are genuine vets and really eased my concerns.
