All the tile work Zach completed in our bathroom remodel with our expensive new tiles had to be ripped out. The tiles were literally falling down from the wall. Working with Zach was an expensive disaster. Do yourself a favor and find a legitimately LICENSED, qualified contractor to work on your home! Here's the story: We hired Zach to complete the plumbing and tiling in our bathroom remodel. We don't live in Arizona, so he was hired remotely. He asked for a huge deposit up front (which was the first red flag-- legitimate contractors only ask for upfront payment if they need to pay for materials. You should only pay contractors AFTER they have completed at least some work. Also-- always keep the final payment until after the entire job is completed). First off, Zach installed all the tiles incorrectly. Our written agreement stated "stacked" and included photos of how we wanted the tile to look. Zach installed the tile staggered, which was NOT the design vision. Annoying, but fine. Then Zach started blaming us for not have materials on-site, when those materials were on-site and were exactly where we stated they would be. In the same conversation Zach started demanding more payment before continuing any work. The red flags were blinding us at that point, so we drove 13 hours from California to Phoenix to see what was going on. As soon as we told Zach we were coming to Arizona to see the job site, he DISAPPEARED. Now we know why... Check out the photos of the tiling Zach completed. It's shockingly bad. The grout was overworked so the tiles were falling down. The spacing is off by over 1/4" in several places. The shower pan was poured too high and without the proper pitch. The tiling was completed before changing the valves for the faucet, which is not in the proper order of construction. There was no shower liner. The tiles were installed on walls that weren't properly leveled, so the tiles were literally curved and sticking out from the wall. There was no consideration for proper edging around the shower niche and the bathroom wall, which looks cheap and completely unfinished. All the work Zach completed had to be ripped out and redone. Zach cost us so much money in materials, time, and emotional energy fixing his mistakes. I'm so happy we didn't send Zach the second payment we was requesting because he ghosted us the second he found out we'd see what was actually happening at our historic Phoenix home. Don't hire Zach.

Prior to starting any work, Zach claimed to be a family man, working with his grandpa, trying to build an honest business with repeat customers. He made it appear as if his grandpa was working with him, guiding him along the way, as he learned the art of tile work. This is far from the case, the guy doesn't even know the difference between stacked and staggered tile installation. I was very clear in writing, days before the project started, that I wanted stacked tiles, and I specified the tile, the size, and the wall to stack. I asked for progress photos along the way, Almost a week into the project, I finally get some photos (he lost his phone for 3 days..), and to my surprise, the tiles were installed staggered (when I pointed this out), Zach tied to talk his way out of it through multiple lies, and threatened to abandoned the site, and wanted more money to complete the job. ...... to my surprise, after seeing the "work" in person. NONE of tiles are in alignment, the walls were not properly prepped before laying the tile, causing uneven and rough edges and corners to poke out. The spacing between the tiles is uneven and random. In some areas, ZERO spacers were used. The shower floor, well, this should be a case study on how NOT to install tile. There are uneven slopes on the floor, the curb is WAY to high, 2x2 tiles that have been placed with random spacing, some edges poking up, nothing aligns.. corners and edges poking up, some tiles higher and some lower (even ones next to each other). If this were a running shower, water would collect in the sunken corners, you would stub a toe, and get dizzy from the uneven / random spacing... I am an honest and fair person, I like to see the good in people, I believe in integrity, and being a good person.. Zach is neither of these things.

However, we upgraded some items to address our tastes, and Daniel just adjusted all the costs. Daniel was excellent at communicating throughout the process. He addressed my abundant questions both before, during and after the project. His construction team did an awesome job taking care of the property and cleaning up after themselves at the end of each day. In conversations with the team, they really appeared to not want to cut any corners and do the job right the first time. Prior to the end of the master bath project, I was pleased enough with the quality and fairness of the work, that I engaged Legacy Construction to do the 2nd bathroom and cabinets in our hallway as well starting in December 2024. Again, a full tear-out including converting a bathtub to a shower. Once again, the job was done as understood and met all my expectations.
