We got fresh shrimp. The price of the shrimp was reasonably priced. The lady at the counter was super nice and was very patient when we deciding on how much shrimp to get. When we got our order they put our shrimp on ice so it would stay fresh. This store was clean and has some nice things to buy too besides the food. Don't let the size of Rickys draw you away or the prices either. You will come here and have a good experience like I did. I recommend Rickys to my friends and family or anyone I see looking for a place to get seafood. When I come to Chincoteague Island next I'm coming back to Ricky's.

We had to u-turn and back track about a 1/4 mile as it was on the east side of the divided highway. At first glance, I was disappointed and annoyed. We wanted an actual sit-down restaurant so we could take a break, and what we see is a fresh fish market. It's a really old rundown looking fish market. But like I said, we were really hungry, and there were a few vehicles there. Some had people eating in them, so we went inside. As soon as we walked inside, the smell of fresh seafood hit us. It didn't sink. It smelled really fresh. There's 2 counters inside and no place to sit. The only seating is picnic tables outside. The first counter is the fresh raw seafood, and the 2nd way off to the left is for placing your order. We kill about for a bit while looking at the handwritten menu. An older man with a Russian accent and the sea weathered appernce you'd expect in a lifelong fisherman was helping other customers. When it our turn,it was a hard decision because it seems you can have them cook any of the seafood from the other counter. We both went with the classic fish in chips. What we got to a while as it's completely made to order. Yo! This fish was in the ocean swimming yesterday! It's that fresh! So, the fish was fried flounder filet, and the fries were standard frozen fries with old bay type seasoning. This was the best fried fish I'd had in a very, very long time. Coming from NY, we rarely, if ever get authentic soul food, and were not going to pass up on this chance. Located in an unassuming strip mall, Kendall's Kountry Kitchen was a 40 seat adorable restaurant. When we arrived there was a large family party, but the rest of the restaurant was quite empty. After being seated right away, we saw as the restaurant slowly began to fill up. By the time we left, the enture place was full. Our waitress Jemiah (sorry if I am spelling that wrong) was so sweet and welcoming. Our orders for drinks and food were taken right after she introduced herself. We ordered 2 of the fried chicken meals and one pork chop dinner. Each came with two sides and cornbread. We all shared the sides and were able to all try the mashed potatoes, baked apples, collard greens (we got two orders-they were out of fried okra) macaroni and cheese and the corn pudding. All amazing! Our mains were all cooked to perfection, served piping hot and tasted great. The waitress explained that all meals were cooked to order and to expect about a 20 minute wait. (Just something to remember if you are in a rush). Thankfully we had plenty of time and must agree that this is a meal that should be savored and given a generous amount of time to consume. We left nothing on our plates! I also ordered a bread pudding to take home (stuffed from the meal) and enjoyed it on my way home. The food, hospitality and general vibe of this place was refreshing and not something we come across often living up north. We plan to make this an annual stop (to and from) our beach vacations.
