I emailed this studio via their website, and explained my vision for what I wanted with my tattoo. I wanted a blue ribbon, with the words "Rectal Cancer Survivor" around it. I said I was willing to have the artist come up with a rendition of what I was describing. They told me they had booked me an appointment for the day I specified, with a certain artist. The day of the appointment came, and I headed in. When I got there and told them I had an appointment with that artist, they told me he wasn't in that day. They said they had another artist available, so I agreed to see him. Of course, he had no clue what design I had talked about in my previous email conversations. I described it to him, and he went off to create a design. After a little tweaking, I agreed to the design he had come up with. As he was about to put the stencil on my arm, he asked me if I was sure I wanted "that word" tattooed on me. I said yes. He put the stencil on, then asked me again. I again, said yes. He asked me a third time right as he had the tattoo machine poised over my skin. For a third time, I said yes. I don't think he would have asked me that question so many times if I had been a breast cancer survivor. My cancer happened to grow in my rectum, I can't help that, I didn't choose it. It is a body part, like any other. One of the reasons I wanted the tattoo was to help normalize the word rectum, and start conversations about colorectal cancer. It was like he was trying to make me feel dirty for having "that word" tattooed on my body where people could see it. For what it is worth, I like my tattoo. And it really has started conversations about colorectal cancer.

Drew Collins has a very light touch with the tattoo gun, it barely hurt. Can't say it didn't hurt at all. If you've had a tattoo before, you will know that there is a measure of pain involved, but this was by far the lightest touch of a tattoo that I have had. The lines are super clean and crisp, and I can't wait to go back for fill in shading in a month. The prices are exceptionally reasonable and the customer service is excellent! Firstly, being a peds nurse I'm super picky about things like this and love the cleanliness and the fact that these are registered nurses performing the piercing!! Makes me feel so much more comfortable. The location is superbly clean, well lit, in a good area and colorfully decorated. Just feels sanitary!! They have a good selection of earring to pick from for initial piercing as well. We opted for the "ear gun?"(unsure of the proper term here) since she is 5, over the needle piercing. Our nurse was very friendly and made my daughter feel in control of the situation and comfortable. Unfortunately, on the first ear, the ear gun got stuck/jammed and it took a little pulling to get the device off which terrified my daughter but he stayed very calm and cool and professional. I was impressed! She was scared to do the next ear, but with my consent and some deep breaths, we did the next ear without a glitch! I was just so impressed with his calmness and efficiency in the face of an obvious equipment failure, especially since he knew I was a nurse and she was nervous. I've been there as a nurse and it's the WORST feeling and he handled it like a pro. Once we were done, she said it didn't hurt, she just didn't like the noise! She loves the pink flower earrings she picked. At checkout, he reviewed care tips and you are given a little care bag with after care spray. Very helpful! I also had a few additional questions, which he answered kindly and was most helpful. This place is worth the higher price, in the end, I'll pay to hopefully decrease the risk of infection and the promise of a healthy piercing for my kiddos! Ended up leaving at closing time we knew we would be in there all night if we didnt leave cuz the one piercer was still tattooing a lady that was insisting on him to fix more and more of her tattoos and getting more and more stuff done.
