I wasn't sure if all of this was possible because from the work I've seen on her site, most are basically typical henna design, no lettering work. But hey, it turns out that she can do it. When she said she'll do ANY designs, it's ANYTHING. I preferred to go to her place to get the henna done. When you get to meet her, she is this extremely nice and very accommodating person! Easy to talk to, very comfortable to be with and informative. There is nothing to complain about this chick. As for the henna, it's not yet a week but my henna is holding up pretty damn well. For rates, it is way reasonable. I'm glad I talked to her and got it done instead of going to those odd shops that are henna/eyebrow threading/waxing/blahblah places. Ammara is just too awesome to pass up.

At the appt I was very comfortable and we talked a bit about how she started doing henna when she was younger as it is part of her culture. I picked a photo from off her profile and asked to have it recreated. I decided to use jagua (which is till all natural plant but a different substance altogether than henna- jagua is NOT black henna) because I am darker and prefer the jagua stain on my skin color. I was really impressed by the photos other users uploaded. She told me I should get the henna done the day before my birthday so it can look its best on my special day and quoted me a VERY reasonable price. Fatema is amazing! She's super fast, informative and sweet. She did my design in less than 10 minutes and explained to me how henna works. Apparently your body temperature has a lot to do with the final result. She made me put on my coat and (tons) of layers before she started. And when she was done, she put lemon juice all over it so it can come out bright orange. Fatema even let me sit in her home for nearly 20 minutes to let the paste dry -- and offered me grapes! Definitely going back to her again and I've already recommended her to a friend of mine who's marrying a Guyanese man in the near future.

I showed her a ton of different pictures and she asked all the right questions for us to nail down a specific design/vision for my henna. She used one black tube of something (I think it's Jagua) on a part of my left hand and the rest was henna. When I woke up in the day of my wedding I found that my left ring hand was completely black and reached out to Semanti for some explanation and a refund. She said said sorry and said she would only provide a partial refund. Never tried to even explain what she used or how to fix anything. I asked her to have compassion and understanding and her response was "I can't be compassionate through text." I paid $225 dollars for henna (overpriced) and she made a huge mistake and stained my hand black for my wedding and I even asked if she could refund half and she declined and gave me $60 back without replying to any messages. I've never experienced someone with such poor respect for their customers and pettiness. It's not about money at the end of the day. It's about the bad attitude and utter lack of professional and accountability. I've done henna hundreds of times and this never happened. There's better henna artist out there, who treat customers better and know what they are doing.
