My daughter was at a cooking class in Richmond and as she would always eat dinner at her cooking…read moreclass, I needed to find dinner for myself. After a bit of Google searching, I decided to try out Greenday Vegetarian. It's a food court stall, tucked away on the 2nd floor of Pacific Plaza building. I found it on the Fantuan app and decided to order my food through Fantuan; then go pick it up. There are two sides of the building with escalators that look nearly identical. Make sure to go up the one that's close to the Big Feet store! After waiting several minutes past my requested pickup time and seeing that the app was still showing the message "Confirming your order", I went up to the food stall and inquired about it. It turns out, they don't actually do takeout orders anymore. They really shouldn't be listed on Fantuan anymore. The lady told me they only do dine-in. Well, I was OK with that as I had planned on eating there anyways. I just thought that pre-ordering for pickup through the app might make things quicker for me.  Even though they don't actually do takeout anymore and shouldn't be on the app, it's a good thing for me that they were still on the app, as the food stall only has Chinese menus and I don't read Chinese! Since I had read the menu on the app though, I was able to put in an order for Eggplant and Tofu on Rice. I was relieved that they had that as there were a couple of other items that I inquired about,  having seen them on the Fantuan menu and it turned out, they no longer served it or else it needed to be ordered about 2 days in advance. Well, the food was good. There was a very flavorful sauce used in the dish, and it was colourful which I always love. I was happy with my food but it sure was a bit of an ordeal trying to get my food from this place. Don't think I'll be going back there any time soon. I recommend this place only if you read Chinese, or if you've got someone who reads Chinese to accompany you!  Service: Good Parking: Plentiful and free for the first 3 hours.  Location: Tucked away in the food court of Pacific Plaza, on the 2nd floor. You really need to be looking for it or else you can easily miss it.

Decent, no-frills, heap, food court, vegetarian Chinese food…read more I stopped in for lunch on a Friday, as I was passing through Richmond and was ready for lunch. The food court is on the second floor and has 8-10 stalls. This little vegetarian stall has an all-Chinese menu, so if you don't speak the language (i.e., me), it can be a bit of a challenge. Thankfully, the nice woman translated for me and told me some items they had available. I ordered a mixed veggie fried noodle dish ($8.75 after tax), which was ready in under 10 minutes. It was mediocre at best flavour-wise, with a slightly sweet, rich soy sauce covering a generous portion of noodles and decent amount of veggies. Tasted like a cheap home-made stirfry, not something I'd want to pay for. Tasty enough, but unimpressive overall. I wouldn't especially recommend it, but if you happen to be nearby and need a cheap veggie meal, you could do worse.

Unfortunately, the menu doesn't have side dishes, so I ended up ordering the lemongrass vermicelli along with a guava juice instead. The guava juice was a bit of a surprise--not quite the freshly made tropical drink I had imagined. It turned out to be the same bottled guava juice you can easily find at the grocery store, just served in a glass and at restaurant prices. Then my lemongrass vermicelli arrived, and the server warned me to be careful because it was very hot. That definitely caught me off guard! When I think of vermicelli bowls, I picture cool noodles, crisp vegetables, fragrant herbs, and a refreshing meal perfect for a sunny day. This version was served piping hot, making it feel more comforting than refreshing. That said, the dish was still packed with flavour. The fragrant lemongrass aroma filled the bowl, the vegetables added plenty of texture, and the savoury components came together nicely. It just wasn't the light, cooling meal I had originally set my heart on when I walked in, dreaming about mango salad on a warm day.

This is a vegetarian restaurant and we had the ten course tasting menu ( which sounds like a lot but most dishes are 3-4 bites). Everything is seasonal so when we were there in June the dishes included asparagus, potatoes, leeks, rhubarb, etc. and every dish was amazing. The service was also very attentive, including explaining in detail what each dish was when it was served. Delightful. This is a once in a lifetime experience.

So to say I was extremely excited is an understatement. We ordered the Sourdough (with House Cultured Butter, Vancouver Island Sea Salt) Shiitake (with Soy Braised Squash, Kelp, Ginger,Lemongrass) Cabbage with Brown Butter and Pomme Dauphinois Harvest which was house made ravioli stuffed with chicken of the woods. For dessert the Plum with Fig Leaf, Miso Honeycomb and Thai Basil Sourdough was good. No arguments there. The shiitake was fine, palatable. The cabbage and potato were very bland and made me question why the Acorn is so hyped. It was so bland i didn't finish it. Keep in mind SERVING SIZES ARE TINY. The ravioli were practically inedible the chicken of the woods was beyond overly salted and the pasta wasn't cooked. We joked that al dente was at least touching water. This pasta has never heard of water. Easily one of if not THE WORST PASTA I've ever had at a restaurant in the past few years. Thank goodness the plum dessert was yummy. Very good. But truly I don't understand why people rave about The Acorn. I love food. Im a vegetarian but it's hard to comprehend why it's so hyped. Maybe there was a new cook? Maybe it was an off night? Crossed off my Vancouver bucket list. It took me a while to write this review because I frankly was in shock the contrast between the actual food vs the lore it has around town. The highlights were a basic sourdough and a well balanced dessert. That just feels so wrong.

We tried a number of dishes including the sweet and sour "pork", tofu wrap, Teochow dumplings, radish cakes, sesame balls and mango pudding. The sesame balls were perhaps the best I have ever had--still warm and toasty on the outside and soft red bean goodness on the inside. Service was very kind and welcoming. The place itself is a cozy spot with around 8-10 tables that can seat 7-8 people and a handful of 2-seater tables. The restaurant opens daily from 12:30 pm-3 pm. The dishes included were: Sichuan-style spicy tofu (not spicy at all), Fried rice, Fried broccoli, Veggie chow mein, and Sweet and sour vegetarian "meat". The first four were very good, but the sweet and sour was exceedingly sweet (par for the course for the dish). The fried rice was a surprising highlight. I wouldn't have chosen this assortment of dishes if it were up to me, but given the selection, everything was made very well. Not at the level of the Buddhist Chinese restaurants in Vancouver (Po Kong and Sun Bo Kong), but very good nonetheless. I'm sure we will return to try out other dishes. Recommended.

I was the only veg-inclined person in the group and didn't realize some of the others didn't know the place was fully vegetarian before arriving, but it didn't seem like anyone was disappointed with the vegetarian offerings. We tried a large variety of dishes, and I won't list all of them because I don't think I'd even remember everything. My favourites were the walnut custard buns, the pea tips rice sheet roll, and the new tapioca pudding (I'd never tried this kind of baked tapioca pudding before and I loved the texture). They also brought out fresh baked barbeque buns which were nice and soft. Others really liked the vegetarian chicken nuggets and black truffle mushroom dumplings, so I think it's safe to say everything is pretty good. I felt like I ate a lot, but at the end, after they split the bill 6 ways, everyone only paid $22 (before tip). So if you go with a big group you can try lots of things at a pretty good price. Service was pretty good. They did try to push some dishes on us, but I think they were just trying to be helpful with most of us not being familiar with how to order for dim sum, and their patience was appreciated.

Pan-fried sticky rice is something I always wanted to try. The pan-fried sticky rice is less starchy than the steamed. Keeping its shape and not so sticky. It has pieces of red gluten (imitating Chinese sausage) and pickled vegetables. Here and there are small chunks of sugar, which were rather unpleasant. It's a dish meant to be shared. I took the leftover to go. My concern about vegetarian restaurants is the quantity of deep-fried dishes, soy and gluten content in their menu.

It came in a 5oz cup - So much smaller than the other one ! And way overpriced at over $8 !! There was no fresh Coconut on it / instead she topped it with some unhealthy looking (canned ??) mango without asking me (I have allergies) It was awful. Definitely NOT fresh. I had to scoop off the Mango. It was so watery that I couldn't even use the spoon I had to drink it. It seemed slightly off so I better not get sick! First I stopped at freshiii. - I was going to get a bowl with noodles and tofu as I had seen someone eating that but then had the brilliant idea of asking her which was her favourite. I like doing that - I often try things I wouldn't normally order. She suggested the Oaxaca bowl - she said she doesn't like sweet and the other is sweet. I love Mexican food - influenced or otherwise so that's what I ordered. All the I gradients are fresh, it's a healthy portion and the beans were warm. Very tasty - would have been even better with a cold beer but I have to stay awake! Upstairs is just a bunch of chairs and tables but it's really quiet and everyone up here is airport staff. So double bonus on what could have been a dreary bunch of hours! I feel really fortunate with the nice people I meet in this world!
