Used to bring my son here for ice cream when he was little haven't been in quite some time. This is definitely a quintessential ice cream stand in North Utica and one of the few places you can still get homemade Italian Lemon Ice. My only wish was the lemon ice wasn't as sweet and a bit more tart but it was still good. They have outdoor seating so we took advantage of the beautiful weather and ate our ice outside. Stopped here after dinner last night (5/13/25) and got the black raspberry ice cream. I was a little surprised when all it was , was cold and by that I mean it had no flavor at all. I thought at first it was me but then I had my daughter and grandchildren try it too and they said the same thing, no flavor. Don't think I will be going back there. read more

normally I love this place always have sherbets that im a fan of. But my family and i went there yesterday (3/30/25) and i noticed a brownish fake press on finger nail in the peanut butter ice cream they had, when i noticed the same nail was on the had of the girl serving us. I said something to her and all she did was giggle and take it out and say thank you; and when i say take it out i dont mean the whole tub I mean she took the nail out and keep serving the ice cream to say i was disgusted and grossed out is an understatement. there's a reason you dont where nails in food and use other sanitary practices god know when she last washed her hands. most likely wont be back. wish i took photos. read more

What a find! In for a family event in the area and found this location for ice cream on Yelp. The homemade hard ice cream was delicious. My partner had black raspberry and I had peanut butter crunch. Can't decide which one was better. The gentleman who waited on me was very nice and allowed me plenty of time to make up my mind for my order. A big plus is how clean this establishment is. It was spotless. I don't know what else you could ask for-a delicious product, great customer service, and in a spotlessly clean environment. Lots of parking too. This place is so welcoming and the people working there are so polite. I had their German Frank hot dog!!! It was so delicious, I had to get another one! The Frank is full of flavor . The season literally bursts in your mouth at every bite. I loved it There cheddar fries are awesome. No dry cheese here lol. My team decided to do dessert. The double chocolate was amazing. As a professional pastry chef, I would like to write a professional opinion about the quality of ice cream at Tasty Treat. First of all, the name says it all. The ice cream is not overly sweet, it is simply tasty. The owner helped us and let us try a few flavors. The birthday cake flavor, toasted almond, and cotton candy. All were stand out flavors! More so, the texture was remarkably good for house made ice cream. Anyone can make ice cream, but only a true pro can get it the right consistency, with a proper mouth feel, and balance the sugar. The owner is a down to earth nice man. He is very pleasant and should be very proud of what he does. My husband had the soft serve pistachio/Berry twist. Boy, was that good! I tasted some and the pistachio flavor comes through nicely. I was really worried at first look because when you have dark colors like some of the flavors have, all you taste is food coloring. This is not the case at Tasty Treat. I don't know how he does it, but there are no overpowering tastes in what I tried. This business is a very unassuming stand alone building in a quaint residential neighborhood, but it is so close to the 90. So, no excuse not to briefly exit the Thruway and get a great cup of ice cream! He offers an array of toppings, but I opted to forego any topping on my cotton candy sundae. I just got the ice cream, whipped cream, nuts, and cherry. Try it. The flavor and greatness of the ice cream itself comes through. Next time, we will try some of the food he offers. Excellent ice cream, the software serve is delicious and the hard ice cream is home made. The Italian Ice is the best around. Intense Lemon flavor, just tart and sweet enough. Large portions and great consistency. Food very good. This is the cleanest place you'll ever see. Highly recommended. read more

Their soft serve ice cream is excellent...but in addition, they make some of the best hamburgers I've ever had. Their fries are terrific too. I love this ice cream shop!!!! The owner is usually there working the counter. He's so friendly and always smiling. He makes fresh batches of ice creams like raspberry or banana for soft serve twists and ice cream sandwiches which are the best. The dining area is always clean and so are the bathrooms. Been going here since I was born with my mother and grandmother, always friendly service, fair prices for a family owned shop, ice cream is delicious, food also but I personally haven't ventured far into that side of the menu. I highly recommend their watermelon and orange sherbets! They seem to have a unique recipe which again, is delicious.
