As a professional pastry chef, I would like to write a professional opinion about the quality of ice cream at Tasty Treat. First of all, the name says it all. The ice cream is not overly sweet, it is simply tasty. The owner helped us and let us try a few flavors. The birthday cake flavor, toasted almond, and cotton candy. All were stand out flavors! More so, the texture was remarkably good for house made ice cream. Anyone can make ice cream, but only a true pro can get it the right consistency, with a proper mouth feel, and balance the sugar. The owner is a down to earth nice man. He is very pleasant and should be very proud of what he does. My husband had the soft serve pistachio/Berry twist. Boy, was that good! I tasted some and the pistachio flavor comes through nicely. I was really worried at first look because when you have dark colors like some of the flavors have, all you taste is food coloring. This is not the case at Tasty Treat. I don't know how he does it, but there are no overpowering tastes in what I tried. This business is a very unassuming stand alone building in a quaint residential neighborhood, but it is so close to the 90. So, no excuse not to briefly exit the Thruway and get a great cup of ice cream! He offers an array of toppings, but I opted to forego any topping on my cotton candy sundae. I just got the ice cream, whipped cream, nuts, and cherry. Try it. The flavor and greatness of the ice cream itself comes through. Next time, we will try some of the food he offers. I trust that will be nice too. read more

Used to bring my son here for ice cream when he was little haven't been in quite some time. This is definitely a quintessential ice cream stand in North Utica and one of the few places you can still get homemade Italian Lemon Ice. My only wish was the lemon ice wasn't as sweet and a bit more tart but it was still good. They have outdoor seating so we took advantage of the beautiful weather and ate our ice outside. Would definitely come back and this time won't wait so long to come back. read more

Where can I start "BIG" Disapointment . Very Expensive Not very good Food. They are very Protective of the Beverages. You get a Combo meal that doesn't come with a drink. If pay Extra for a soda it's 3.25 for a small little soda that tastes flat as a board. Tried to get a chilli dog in the combo but they won't let you have it that, Yet they have a Hot dog in Combo, so why can't you simply pay a little more and get a Chili Dog! Of course there are no refills on the soda. They seem kinda CHEAP. Didn't stay for Ice Cream read more

Stopped here after dinner last night (5/13/25) and got the black raspberry ice cream. I was a little surprised when all it was , was cold and by that I mean it had no flavor at all. I thought at first it was me but then I had my daughter and grandchildren try it too and they said the same thing, no flavor. Don't think I will be going back there. read more

normally I love this place always have sherbets that im a fan of. But my family and i went there yesterday (3/30/25) and i noticed a brownish fake press on finger nail in the peanut butter ice cream they had, when i noticed the same nail was on the had of the girl serving us. I said something to her and all she did was giggle and take it out and say thank you; and when i say take it out i dont mean the whole tub I mean she took the nail out and keep serving the ice cream to say i was disgusted and grossed out is an understatement. there's a reason you dont where nails in food and use other sanitary practices god know when she last washed her hands. most likely wont be back. wish i took photos. read more

What a find! In for a family event in the area and found this location for ice cream on Yelp. The homemade hard ice cream was delicious. My partner had black raspberry and I had peanut butter crunch. Can't decide which one was better. The gentleman who waited on me was very nice and allowed me plenty of time to make up my mind for my order. A big plus is how clean this establishment is. It was spotless. I don't know what else you could ask for-a delicious product, great customer service, and in a spotlessly clean environment. Lots of parking too. May stop on my way home to pick up some homemade Italian ice for our freezer. Don't hesitate to stop in. Yum! read more

i got there at 9:40 and there close time is at 10, they closed the window in my face . any other day they stay open until 10 on the dot.

This place is so welcoming and the people working there are so polite. I had their German Frank hot dog!!! It was so delicious, I had to get another one! The Frank is full of flavor . The season literally bursts in your mouth at every bite. I loved it There cheddar fries are awesome. No dry cheese here lol. My team decided to do dessert. The double chocolate was amazing. Awesome flavor in every item off the menue that I had for lunch. Definitely an awesome lunch choice. read more

The best ice cream and the best service. They do incredible sundaes, shakes, and even food. They rotate soft serve flavors regularly and they are all great. read more

Friendly service. A bit pricey for what you get. The chili will bring me back. Pasta salad has big real veggies (a pleasant difference from most). Nicky doodles down the street is a good alternative. Go to Voss' for better BBQ. read more

Extremely rude and unprofessional. Do not recommend. Would rather eat shit with whipped cream on top.

Excellent ice cream, the software serve is delicious and the hard ice cream is home made. The Italian Ice is the best around. Intense Lemon flavor, just tart and sweet enough. Large portions and great consistency. Food very good. This is the cleanest place you'll ever see. Highly recommended. read more

Doesn't know how to make a banana split... added jelly and soft serve with a half cherry on top. That says a lot for an ice cream place. It was also hot within the dining area, but the people were friendly. The ice cream isn't what I expected. Wouldn't recommend to anyone read more

Great place! Awesome chili dogs. Cleanness place I've ever seen. Great friendly service

I just love this place!! I have lunch and a shake it is so delicious! I have turned my husband on to it now every time he meets me for lunch its our go to place! I must tell you it is so clean very impressive. A must try if you have never been here. read more

My parents have been taking me here since I was a kid. Now in my thirties, I get to enjoy bringing my wife and son!!

Their soft serve ice cream is excellent...but in addition, they make some of the best hamburgers I've ever had. Their fries are terrific too. Obviously, many people come for ice cream and may not even think about getting a meal- but the burgers and fries are seriously exceptional and shouldn't be missed. Great crew too, quick with a smile and friendly. read more

I love this ice cream shop!!!! The owner is usually there working the counter. He's so friendly and always smiling. He makes fresh batches of ice creams like raspberry or banana for soft serve twists and ice cream sandwiches which are the best. The dining area is always clean and so are the bathrooms. I love bringing my children here. read more

Great ice cream! Homemade hard ice cream and the best soft serve in the area! Always clean and excellent service! So lucky to have this gem of a shop in the area! read more

Been going here since I was born with my mother and grandmother, always friendly service, fair prices for a family owned shop, ice cream is delicious, food also but I personally haven't ventured far into that side of the menu. I highly recommend their watermelon and orange sherbets! They seem to have a unique recipe which again, is delicious. Also, every friend I have brought here from multiple different areas has always commented to me about the service and food quality but let your own taste buds be the judge. read more
