My wife and I ate there last night about 730 pm. Our first visit, and obviously not prime time, but we had a very nice dinner. Food was delicious, promptly served, and fairly priced. Most of their business is carry out but they have indoor seating for 20 or so. Not somewhere you want to take your significant other for A romantic dinner, but if you want great Chinese dine in or carry out this is the place. I don't think they have beer or wine. Used to eat here in high school (don't judge yall, it was a 3 minute walk from school) and it was pretty good. I'm not sure if I've just had better Chinese food since high school or if my palate had improved THAT much. We ordered the sweet buns, pork fried rice, cashew chicken, steam rice, and steamed dumplings. The sweet buns were super oily, almost soggy. The pork fried rice had absolutely no flavor-we almost dumped an entire bottle of soy sauce & duck sauce in it to get flavor. The cashew chicken was edible, but not hot. Came here to pick up food for lunch today. I got the Orange Chicken and a few egg rolls. The service was very friendly and fast. The food was made fresh and tasted wonderful. I appreciate that the lunch menu has several things that you don't normally see offered for lunch. I notice they also have a few seafood dishes as lunch special, which will be one of the next things I have to try since I love shrimp. All in all, I say that Tasty is one of the better Chinese restaurants here in Columbus! read more

When I am craving Chinese food, I order from Tasty Express. I ordered and my food was ready in 10 minutes. Bad quality because it was too fast...never! I ordered Roasted Pork Lo Mein and could they make it spicy. WOW!!! When I got home, that dinner made my entire day!!! It was sooooo perfect! So tasty and oh so perfectly spicy!!!!! I have been going here probably since it opened, some 20 years ago. It's the most consistent Chinese takeout I know. My usual jam is moo goo gai pan and hot and sour soup. Every time I get it it's terrific. And the hot and sour soup is the best in town. I've had hot and sour soup at every other Chinese place in Columbus; nowhere else comes close. The right amount of heat, the right amount of salt, meat, mushrooms, vegetables, and whatever else the owner puts in there that goes right up your nose, clears out your sinuses and makes you feel like a million bucks. It's so good. The current owner has been there for 15 years or more. He has a lovely family with three young children that have practically grown up in the restaurant. I mention this because every time I've been there when he was in the room with his kids, I have never seen someone so happy, inspired and fulfilled. It's a contagious feeling, and when you go there like I do and know the food you're ordering will taste just as good as it did the last time, it all adds up to this warm and fuzzy experience that is at the heart of every great family business. read more

Update - 01/19/2014 I placed an order online and picked it up so I could check out the restaurant. I read reviews that said it was dirty and I wanted to see for myself. I didn't find it to be different from any of the other restaurants, Chinese or otherwise, in the area. I didn't see anything that concerned me regarding cleanliness. Tables were clean. Floor is standard linoleum tiles and they were as clean as I would expect... no food or trash laying around and there were no puddles or sticky spots, just the usual wear and tear. It took me about 15 minutes to get there and I left directly after I finished placing the order on the website. The order was ready when I arrived. I paid, they thanked me and gave me my bag-o-food. They have, in my opinion, the best lo mein of the places in town. Sweet and sour chicken is very good. Beef-n-brocoli was okay, I've had better. Hot and sour soup was standard, temperature hot with a bit of spice and pretty tasty. Overall, I'm still satisfied with this place. read more

This is the best Chinese in the area - by far - and by "the area" I mean anyplace between just south of Indianapolis and just north of Nashville. Seriously. I'm adding about half to three quarters of a star for smoothly functioning online ordering, delivery, and quick service. When I've done takeway, it's always been quick pick-up, hot (even when I've got a fair drive),and never soggy (even for the fried bits). Prices are good, portions are fair. It's accessible and flavorful Chinese...no head-on fish or such, but still reasonably legit and very, very tasty, with quality ingredients. Entrees are more varied than a lot of Chinese takeaway spots in this particular neck of the woods. Dumplings served are really "potstickers," (yep, with the thick, thick dough - not bad at all, just fair warning), they're well cooked, and the filling is really tasty. Pupu platter includes (gah, I hate it when I can't tell what I'm getting ahead of time!): a few chicken fingers (that - I swear to J*bus - are the ones I've eaten in 30 years of commercial Chinese food that didn't taste like dried chixjerky, coated in a half inch of floury off-tasting grease. These were...dare, I say it...GOOD.), two fried shrimpies (had better), two beefsticks (good flavor, very tender), four wontons (strangely appealing), two rolls, two huge bone-in ribs (nomnomnomnom...so much better than the sad little meat strips so many places serve!), and what I'm fairly sure was fried tofu (which tasted good, though I don't have much to compare, being morally opposed to tofu, and everything...), plus a vat of red slime. Why is it that nearly every Chinese restaurant in the Midwest insists on delivering a vat of ill-set red gelatin with every meal? Ick. But anyway. It's not remotely enough to put me off of this place. Have had a number of entrees here - enjoyed them all. Shredded beef, moo sho chicken, Hunan proteins. Personally, I like the house specialties better than the items under the general protein heading. Definitely worth the opportunity for take-away or delivery, if you're local. read more

I ordered General Tso's Chicken and 10 Sugar rolls for which I paid $14.18. It was not cold when it arrived and it actually arrived much earlier than expected. But to be quite honest I could definitely find a much cheaper and ten times better tasting version of that elsewhere. The rice tasted like it was days old, or not cooked thoroughly, and the chicken was bland and to be at least a few days old. The sugar rolls were good with the exception that the sugar on top of the rolls had crusted whether that is because of the heat or for some other reason I don't really know. The only thing I know is that this meal was not worth $14.18. And I know for sure that I can get a meal 10 times better than that for around nine to $10. read more

I ordered the steamed rice, tofu and veggie dish. Everything was cooked correctly and was tasty. I also ordered their dumplings and was very pleased. Small place with a large seating area. Good atmosphere. In the end though...its Columbus Indiana. Not much going on there that's for sure. read more

Just came here for the 1st time. It's a relaxed atmosphere and the food was really good.

The stir fried shredded beef is a must have, it's a bit spicy and a bit sweet, it satisfies all my cravings. I also love how they have a small buffet that I can pick and choose from when I can't decide what to eat, it has all the popular menu foods and since it's small, it's more fresh!! read more

This is a periodic order out place for me. I just wanted to say I'm very impressed with the consistency of the food here. I moved out of Northwest Indiana (Highland) a couple years ago and I had a place out there called Wings in Hammond that I frequently ordered from for the same reason. Being that I'm now 3 hours give or take away from Wings, I needed to find a new Chinese restaurant. It's like I got my old one back. I came back to Columbus for a visit and insisted we pick up Chinese from Tasty. I fell in love with this place back in 1994 and hoped that it would be as good as I remembered. It was! I love the sweet abs sour chicken as well as the beef abs broccoli. My absolute favorite is the egg rolls. As good or better than I remembered. Nice, friendly owners and staff. Great food. Their "buffet" had about 6 bins of food... 3 meat dishes which were never full, we were the first ones there and they brought out maybe 1/4 of a bin at a time... they were refilling it with soup bowl sized refills... the food was all either over or undercooked SEVERELY, no middle ground, their "water" was what I assume use to be mop water from their grand opening 6 years ago... there was always a line for the buffet since there was never any food, and when they did stock food from their soup bowls sized replenishments onto the "buffet" they would also bring a to-go box and fill to-go orders from their overwhelming selection... The only reason they stay in business is because of the high school next door and the fact that those poor lost souls don't have time for refills, or to complain... AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. read more
