My daughter's friend has a severe fish and nut allergy, so we made sure to communicate that upfront. For most of the evening, they were very attentive and accommodating, which we appreciated. There was one moment worth mentioning . . . a runner brought over a dish, and when I asked if it was safe for her, he said yes. Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication, and it turned out to be tuna tartare, which we initially thought was steak tartare. She took a bite, and it definitely gave us a scare. Thankfully, she took her allergy medication right away, and everything ended up being okay. I chalk it up to the nature of a high-end restaurant with multiple servers and runners, but it's something to be mindful of, especially when dealing with serious allergies. We stopped here on our way out of the square and had some gelato. They had a mango yogurt I really enjoyed and overall, I thought the ice cream was tasty. The problem is that it wasn't that memorable, partially because you see a lot of these kinds of shops with equally extravagant desserts up and down the streets of a lot of Amsterdam.
