Cozy place to go to, but expected more, the donuts are quite regular. But the ice coffee is indeed very good.

I've lived in the Netherlands for 2 years so I'm very accustomed to the "it's the customer's fault" attitude but these are very clearly overbaked, almost burnt. I don't often complain or ask for a refund but I can't even eat the cookies or finish the cake. The juice however was very good. I wish I had checked yelp before ordering but the pictures on their site and FB looked good.

So delicious, fresh, and definitely popular since they didn't have it on days when I stopped in after 12pm. The cookies were also amazing. Tried a bunch of flavors, and every one was on point. The waffle, however, was the best thing I've eaten in Amsterdam all week. Had to go with the chocolate covered version, and it did not disappoint. The waffle was fresh, covered in powered sugar first and then amazing, rich chocolate that melted in your mouth/ hands and the combination was just divine. I will definitely be back, just for this, but next time after a long jog.

For our final dinner on my daughter's Spring Break trip, we went to The Duchess . . . and this was…read moreeasily the fanciest dinner we had all week. The girls were dressed for it, and it definitely felt like a "last night of the trip" kind of place. We did have my friend's younger son with us, and while the restaurant leans more toward young adults and adults, it was totally fine and we had no issues. As you'd expect, the food was top-notch and the service was what you'd expect from a place like this. My daughter's friend has a severe fish and nut allergy, so we made sure to communicate that upfront. For most of the evening, they were very attentive and accommodating, which we appreciated. There was one moment worth mentioning . . . a runner brought over a dish, and when I asked if it was safe for her, he said yes. Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication, and it turned out to be tuna tartare, which we initially thought was steak tartare. She took a bite, and it definitely gave us a scare. Thankfully, she took her allergy medication right away, and everything ended up being okay. I chalk it up to the nature of a high-end restaurant with multiple servers and runners, but it's something to be mindful of, especially when dealing with serious allergies. Outside of that . . . fantastic meal, beautiful venue, and a great way to end the trip. I'll definitely be back . . . just a little more vocal about allergies next time, and I'd recommend the same to anyone visiting.

Five stars for absolutely fresh made (to order) "Poffertjes" (mini Dutch pancakes) with a choice of several different sauces. I must admit €12 for 12 tiny donuts seemed a bit steep, but they were so fresh that it was worth it! They also have lots of different kinds of waffles, gelato, and sweet things like that. Very good service and I like the fact that the shop borders two streets, so you have two sides with a different ambiance to choose from where to sit. There is some nice outdoor seating as well.

Gelato, crepes, waffles, and donuts galore as well as coffee. The main draw is its location is just off of Dam Square, where Koninklijk Paleis Amsterdam (Royal Palace Amsterdam), De Nieuwe Kerk (The New Church), and the white National Monument obelisk is. Dolce & Gelato Bio is marketed as being kind of Italian based with its gelato and crepes, the former being supposedly semi-organic but I'm not completely sure. However, the extravagant and fun waffles are very Amsterdam-ish and the churros, doughnuts, and cupcakes are just their own general thing. All in all, it really is just generally a bakery/ice cream/dessert place. As usual, the window displays, with its various colorful desserts for these kinds of places, are pretty amazing to look at. We stopped here on our way out of the square and had some gelato. They had a mango yogurt I really enjoyed and overall, I thought the ice cream was tasty. The problem is that it wasn't that memorable, partially because you see a lot of these kinds of shops with equally extravagant desserts up and down the streets of a lot of Amsterdam. This place's only real draw to me is its location and the ice cream was only so-so. Nice for the day, enjoyable for the occasion, but not someplace I would come back to when there are so many other interesting places.
