I enjoy jalapeños on my burger and Taste-D-Burgers, Popper Burger did not disappoint me. The smash burger not only was topped with jalapeños, it had Pepper Jack cheese and Whipped Cream Cheese. The cream cheese on the burger was a first time for me. I would have never thought to add that to a smash burger and it actually added flavor. It was the perfect treat as I shopped the booths at the SOHA Holiday Market. If addition to my Popper Burger, I enjoyed a side of fries. I was happy to see that they use, Crinkle Fries. Crinkle fries are my favorite fry from a bag. Of course, I really prefer hand cut with skins on. The staff working the truck were friendly and the turn around from placing an order and receiving your food was fairly quick. read more

Today was my third time trying taste-d burger. Ordered a variety of 6 burgers and fries. Each order was correct! Service was fast and friendly. I really enjoy the BBQ sauce and cole slaw combo. Burger was hot and fresh. Crispy burger edges and soft bun. I didn't try the fries but they appear pretty standard. If you're looking for a solid burger with a slight twist. Try it! If you don't like the BBQ/coke slaw style, they have the standard tomato, lettuce, etc. Given its winter, it would be nice if they can wrap up the burger for transport back to work, but I think they just happen to run out today. read more

Food trucks are making it out to Chesterworld now so Ms T and I made it to Taste-D-Burger while they were parked at the St Louis Wine Market for Bury the Bottle night (great event, by the way). We each had a double with cheese. We knew these were thin griddle burgers, going in and they were fine. Neither of us wants barbecue sauce on a burger so we skipped their "signature" topping of Sweet Baby Ray's and kept it pretty pure with mustard. I ordered a side of slaw because I like slaw on burgers (normally with chili which they don't have) but I wanted to see what the slaw was like. It seems that the term "food truck" generates a halo effect to a lot of people and while blinded by the halo, they forget that the food needs to be special to deserve that halo. Taste-D-Burger's burger was good, but certainly nothing special. Would I eat this again if I saw the truck? Absolutely. For one thing, it is fun getting a quick treat from a truck. Would I monitor their movements on social media and drive all over St Louis County to track them down, for this burger? Absolutely not. Would I take Aunt Annie or Bro J when they are in town? Nope. I agree with Wine Guy W as we discussed at the Market while enjoying some good zin and syrah with our burgers (good burger wines). These food trucks need to develop a few really unique creations to distinguish themselves. I liked that the bun was lightly toasted. That is a nice touch you don't always get, but anyone can do it. The pickle was excellent, crisp and tart. I appreciate that they have found some that are not the mediocre ripple cut grocery store pickle chips. I don't understand actually buying Sweet Baby Ray's and advertising it as a Signature item. How commercial can you get and the opposite of unique? Finally, and this is Mr Slaw talking, I really need to start a Cole Slaw College. There must be dozens if not hundreds of ways to make good to excellent slaw and Taste-D-Burger missed them all. The only worse slaw I have had was at Indigo Joe's. Where Joe's tasted horrible, Taste-D-Burger's was just tasteless. When they describe it as creamy slaw, it seemed to me that the only think on it was a little cream. There was no tartness (vinegar), no salt, no pepper, no spice or seasoning of any kind. There was not even any sweetness, which I don't want, but in this case anything would be welcome. Beyond that it was stale and limp. I threw it away. They apparently buy bagged pre-shredded slaw and add a little cream. I know this sounds like a rant, but the point is, work on the slaw. Make your own truly signature barbecue sauce. Develop your own homemade chili sauce. Finally, have a supply of plastic forks. Provide more than a thimble full of catsup to go with the nice big order of what were really decent fries. It seems like they were not quite prepared in some regards. And let's not be awarding five stars just because the restaurant is mobile. read more

I was so excited that a food truck was coming to my workplace to provide lunch options that I don't usually have. I opted to get a regular burger and not the "Taste-D" with slaw and barbecue sauce and I have to say it's a bit lackluster. Not bad, just not real special either. What was special was the speed! Very quick service and very friendly woman working the sales part of the truck. Like others have said, the burger was crispy on the edges, the fries were thin and just like Steak N Shake. If the food truck comes back I might skip it next time and go for a better burger somewhere else. read more

Taste-D-Burger is an excellent reminder that sometimes, you don't need fancy gourmet ingredients in exotic dishes - sometimes, you just want simple, easy food that tastes amazing. This truck has that down perfectly. The menu is as straightforward as it gets. Single, double, and triple burgers, all the classic toppings, and french fries. Not particularly special. Until you notice the option to get the your burgers done taste-d style. What is taste-d style? It's burger topped with cheese, coleslaw, and bbq sauce. And it's completely delicious. Seriously, one of the best burgers I've had in a while. Unless you're on a diet (in which case, what are you doing at a burger truck?) you'll want to get at least the double burger. The patties are thin, but they're done just right - juicy on the inside and just a little crispy around the edges. The taste-d toppings push it straight into comfort-food heaven - it's got crunch from the coleslaw, tang from the bbq, salt and creaminess from the cheese, all held together by burger meat. I think I was expecting something more here and because I was, I need to go back and try them again. The concept is just a good tasting simple hamburger but I thought I would be getting something more substantial, but the price does reflect what you get. It may be that I need to get 2 of these at a time to fairly compare their offerings to other food trucks. It IS a good tasting burger so do try them out. I give this truck 5 stars. The burgers are "diner style" so thin with crispy edges. I ordered a double with cheese, with mustard mayo lettuce and pickles. Triples are available if you're really hungry. The toppings were great and you could really enjoy the crispy edges. The fries were very good. Service was fast and very friendly. And yes, you have to ask for ketchup. Why 5 stars? Best diner style crispy edge burger I've ever had. Their burgers are better than Steak and Shake, and although I love Carl's Drive In, I gotta say this food truck is a little better than Carl's. This truck came by my office today, so I tried them out for lunch. The service was less than friendly and I was somewhat underwhelmed by the food. The seasoning and flavor of the burger was good and I liked the coleslaw and bbq sauce. I just wish there was more to the burger. The patty is so thin that I felt I was eating more bread than anything. The fries were clearly frozen and not seasoned at all and they didn't give you ketchup unless you asked for it. I would eat here again if my only other options were fast food, but providing any other local options, this is not worth the money. read more

I tried Taste D for the 1st time today when they visited my job. I must say, that the service was extremely fast. The counter person was not very friendly at all. He wasn't mean, just all business. There is not much to say about the food. The menu is just a burger and shoestring fries. I opted to just get the Taste D burger. It is basically a Steak n Shake burger, including the crispy edges on the thin patties. Don't even bother ordering a single, it won't fill you up at all. I ordered a triple by other coworkers' recommendation, which was $7. The burger was good, but nothing special about it. I did enjoy the bbq sauce, which happens to be my favourite, as well as the slaw combined with it. I would probably not go here again unless they expand their menu. For $7, I expect something a bit more exotic than cole slaw and bbq sauce. read more

This truck has a pretty good burger. There is nothing fancy about it, but if you like a good pressed diner burger with a twist(coleslaw) this will do it for you. The service is non-existent as they do not speak to you except tell you its ready, but it was fast and tasty. This is my favorite burger in town. I love the seasoning and can eat a fairly small portion or really indulge. And the portion/price is perfect. I can't give it a 5 because I think they should tweak the fries a bit. They have a funny stale oil taste usually. read more
