Long story short, Marvini sold me a lemon: a Subaru Outback with a bad engine. They refuse to take…read moreresponsibility for what they did, and now I will have to pay 5-6k in repairs for a car that I drove for only 5 months, and paid $5500 for. The price was too good to be true for an Outback with 110k miles, and I should've listened to my better judgment. I've never written an online complaint about a business before, and I don't enjoy doing this, but the situation that Marvini put me in left me no other recourse. The longer version: The car stopped running after 5 months because it was sold to me with an engine and oil pan that were both covered in J-B Weld. This is the assessment that I got from a widely trusted, long-established, local mechanic (I myself am not knowledgeable about cars). Marvini will insist that they didn't do this, and that all the car's problems are my fault because I waited too long to get an oil change. If they read Yelp, I expect they'll respond to this with these same defenses. I've spoken to my trusted mechanic about Marvini's rebuttals, as well as other mechanics, and they all say that there's no way I could've caused these problems myself. I've shown Marvini pictures of the patched engine and oil pan, and they've basically pleaded the 5th and said nothing, or otherwise accused my own mechanic of messing with the engine and oil pan after the car was already sold to me (which is absurd). They've also refused to replace the engine for me, for the obvious reason that they would view this as an admission of fault. I don't make a lot of money and this was a big purchase for me, to help get me through a winter in the mountains. I can't afford the repairs, so now I have no car because of Marvini's unethical business practices. I strongly recommend that you think twice before buying from them.
