First of all, I want to start off my saying this is one of the few independently owned and family…read moreran funeral homes in the area. Most of the big ones in Austin such as Weed-Corley-Fish and Cook-Walden have been bought up by big companies such as Service Corporation International (SCI) and therefore usually profit margin is the number one driving factor when running a business by a big conglomerate. Harrell Funeral Home is not that way. They treat you like family, responsive to your needs and requests, do everything in the most professional and dignified manner possible. Even when they arrived to pick up my mother who had passed away at home, they were gentle in lifting her, asked us how they wanted us to wrap her, and placed a beautiful cover over her when they took her to an unmarked Mercedes van to transport her to the funeral home. They help you think of things that you may not have considered when a loved one passes. What I like best about them is their cremation facility in is onsite in South Austin so if you want to stay with your loved one until the very end, you are allowed to do that. Many places will nickel and dime you for every little thing but that is not the case with Harrell. They offer free online obituaries, free video tributes to go with your obituary, free grieving resources, and assistance with typing up loose ends such as procuring death certificates and closing out digital identities and financial matters of your loved one. Paul and Jason were so kind during this delicate time and there was never a hard upsell at any time. They respected my mother's wishes and my wishes for what we needed from them. I can't say enough great things about Harrell Funeral Homes and for anyone who has to unfortunately make those hard decisions, I would highly recommend calling Harrell to support you during that time.

This upstanding and respectful group of people at Harrell did EVERYTHING within their power to live up to both Mom's wishes as well as my own. You can definitely trust these folks. I wish I could give them 6 stars. Post Script: I understand why the folks are commenting negatively below. Their concerns were mine also. HOWEVER, Harrell has made some personnel changes now and I would encourage you to meet with them to find out for yourself. In 2019, we went to Harrell for my Father's funeral and we were overwhelmed with the thoughtfulness, respect, and caring. I will have my services at Harrell's.

I would NEVER have a service here. These people are distant family members of my husbands parents…read more His grandfather passed away and we held a service the evening prior to the funeral. The funeral home is so inattentive to the families needs. My father-in-law had to leave to go and get bottle waters for our family because they had nothing for us. Once the service began, no one from the funeral home was in attendance to ensure things ran properly. My 20 year old sister-in-law, who was completely distraught at the loss of her grandfather, created a picture slide show to music. Prior to the service, the funeral home lady (the one with glasses and tattoos all over her legs) helped her to make sure it was working (what a miracle!). Well, once the service began, they had turned the volume on the sound system down, and apparently it is controlled from a different room than the one where the service was being held. When we went to play the slideshow, no sound. I promptly ran into the lobby to try and find someone who worked there. They told me they would turn it up. So, I ran back into the service to tell them it was okay. We tried again, no sound. I told the girl was glasses, and she VERY rudely stated that she had turned it up as high as it would go. I said, okay so should we try and turn it up from the computer (not knowing the presentation was on a USB owned by the funeral home). And she said I mean, I don't know what to tell you. Who says that? Really? Their lack of customer service and compassion for a grieving family DISGUST me. You should never tell anyone who is grieving the loss of a loved one that "you don't know what to tell them." You know what you do. You work tirelessly to assist them until the problem is resolved. SHAME ON ANGEL FUNERAL HOME FOR EMPLOYING SOMEONE WITH SUCH A BLATANT DISRESPECT FOR PAYING CUSTOMERS AND FOR HUMANITY ITSELF. You should be ashamed of yourself girl with the glasses whoever the hell you are.

The Deleon family refused to give their tax ID number to the employer in order to receive payment. I brought a company check to them and told Bryan Deleon it would be good the next day because I had just deposited the employer check in my company bank account. He rushed immediately to the bank to cash it and then called the cemetery where I was paying them to tell me the check was no good. I had to bring him a cashier's check the next morning. They constantly refused to schedule the service until they got cash. These people were so rude to my friend and her family!! DO NOT USE ANGEL FUNERAL HOME!!
