The 1st thing to remember is that everyone is struggling with staff and to be kind to the staff who are there in trying to help people. This is my favorite Des Moines area target. I found that staff were more than willing to help me and would actually walk me to an area that I had questions about rather than just give me general directions and send me on my way. I also struggle with reaching for some water bottle Items that are difficult to get on the top shelf and staff have always been willing to get them for me. The store was clean and well organized. It was a typical Target. I use them as one of my "go to" places when I have an extended stay while traveling. Target has all kinds of products that are appropriate for young families. My particular area of interest is their paper products and groceries. It's where I go to get my bulk paper towels and my bulk Kleenex. This particular Target has a typical, well stocked grocery area they have all the items that you could ever need. They have increased there ethnic food choices dramatically.They have high quality in fresh food, frozen food, and dry goods. They have a great beverage selection, including water. Health drinks and wine and alcohol. There prices are reasonable and usually lower than other stores. . I find that I can usually get in-and-out in a very timely manner. read more

Put in an order on Saturday night for next day pickup. I received an email at 9AM on Sunday morning notifying me that my order was ready. I headed down around 3:45 PM to pick my stuff up. I checked in and watched multiple cars come in after me , receive their orders and leave. I still had nothing. I called inside and they said they were "pulling my order from the floor". I waited another 10 minutes. Still nothing. I went inside and canceled. Apparently the entirety of my order went to someone else. Zero communication. When I got back to my car, a very apologetic employee had my stuff. I told him I had already canceled and that none of the items would be paid for. He said I could go back inside (again) and pay, but I felt that I'd already wasted enough of my time. He did tell me to keep the $15 GC they prepared. A nice gesture, but this is a case of management completely dropping the ball. read more

The staff is rude and I have been in there multiple times and had their secret shoppers follow me around like I'm some kind of fucking criminal and I have never once ever shoplifted I think because of my tattoos and piercings in the way I appear I think they target me and I just stopped going there all together. They are so rude and so nasty there and they make you feel very unwelcome and it sucks because it's a nice store but the staff in the way that place is ran is disgusting. read more

COVID-19 review: Sign in the entry that masks are required however unfortunately this is not enforced. I had walked in behind someone not wearing masks. They walked by several employees including managers with nothing said - no inquiry about whether not there was a medical reason etc. when I pointed it out one person appeared to be disturbed however another team member, Miranda, sneered at me and told me they would take care of it and then proceeded to do nothing. I was only in to do a return so I saw her the entire time. She glared at me when I was leaving as well. As far as social distancing it does not appear to be enforced form what I could tell. They did not sanitize the area I touched from what I could tell. I saw nobody sanitizing carts and I didn't see any hand sanitizer available. read more

Who knew when K-Mart went out of business that Target, a neighborhood staple, would become a go to store for incidentals. Well, it has. It's like your good neighbor you could rely on for odds and ends. Why? While pulling out the Christmas decorations, I could not find the wreath door hanger or the Christmas tree skirt--so laying a finger -- to side of my nose -- off to Target I will go. It is somewhat early and the roomy parking lot is full--masking up here I go. The aisles are orderly and the holiday prices are amazing! There are all sorts of bargains. Yet, as I stick to my list and sort through the possibilities, I am satisfied with an in and a quick out. Friendly staff, $ good prices, clean, roomy aisle, and everyone adhering to the Governor's Proclamation "to wear your mask, six feet distance and stay of good cheer as we navigate the pandemic. Least I forget they also have Pick Up Lanes, which you may be familiar with -- when you order on line -- you can park and wait for a representative to bring your retail to the car or go to the service counter-- give them your name or ticket number --and they will locate your order and out the door you go. So while this isn't my most favorite Target out of all the options I have available to me in my area (in Des Moines). I generally like the one on Plum Ave the best mainly it's bigger and closer to me. Though it has a lot of the automated self check outs. While I don't really use them (at Target) they're not that efficient and smaller area if you are buying more items. I don't mind them too much. Anyway I like this one pretty well because it's close to where I work and the parking is always great. And they generally have a lot of staff that are very helpful and always a lot of stock. So this is also a nice one. As well as if you are on the hunt for Star Wars, this one generally has a few still left on the days when they come out. The one on Plum doesn't. read more

This is our usual Target location, since it's closest to us. It's a lot smaller than the larger stores around the WDM/Urbandale area, and it tends to be a lot more outdated - but it's got pretty much everything we normally shop for at Target. I'll second some of the reviews on here already - the parking sucks. Not only does it have more entry than exit points, it also offers no traffic flow and for some reason, people like to fly through it! If you are coming here, especially with kids, park further from the door than everyone else and watch your little ones like a hawk! I've personally seen like 2 accidents in this parking lot from lack of space and lack of attention. We don't buy groceries at Target, mainly because I can never find the specialty foods I need at this location and I don't want to drive out to the giant fancy ones just for food. I do have a little trouble navigating their clothing sections, and I think that might be because Target inventory is outgrowing this little store. We were in there this morning, and I happened to notice they put all of the Maternity clothes in the back corner of the Men's section. I've never noticed that before, which might signal that it's super hard to find for those who need it. It's also weirdly difficult to navigate the Personal Care section, since they have body wash in 3 separate aisles and it's nowhere close to shampoo/conditioner like you would find in any other store. The seasonal sections, like every Target, are where it's at; though in this store, it might be better for them to better use the space they do have to make things easier to find. My macchiato was great and I commented several times on it because it was so satisfying. They don't honor coupons that stand alone stores promote, but our girl was very nice about the whole thing. Other then the disastrous design of the parking lot, YOU CAN GET IN BUT YOU CAN't get out! I dig that they have a Starbucks in here! I think that the location is convenient, the parking lot is massive, they've never been totally out of something that I needed/wanted, and the lines are generally short. Lacking a fifth star due to its size (it would be nice to have a little more produce and things) and run-ins with a couple of employees who clearly did not want to be there and gave zero effs about my existence. It's official. I am addicted to Target. I've been in the DSM area for a solid 6 months now and go here at least once a week. However, this past week, being Christmas, I shopped here 3x.....told you. Addicted. It's not an official Target/grocery store, but they do have a pretty decent food area. Don't come here looking for fennel, as I experienced a fennel-FAIL. But there is produce, frozen, dairy, and lots of baking items. The women's clothing section/shoes isn't stellar, actually the shoe area is pretty pathetic (1/2 aisle...what??) Merch is always tidy and the employees are very friendly. Plus, when the Starbucks on University is pissing me off, I will pop in here instead. Thank goodness this is under-renovations. It is a tinier of the Targets in the DMS metro area. No grocery section which is a major bummer. However, if you are in the Valley West area, it serves its purpose. There is a HY-VEE next door for your grocery needs. Went inside and out since I couldn't get my veggies or milk. I was very impressed on my recent shopping trip at Target. While browsing through the swimsuits, women's clothes and shoes I had a couple employees to let me know what kind of sales are going on and what offers there were on the shopping App! The racks looked very organized and the store looked clean. There is a new set up with the hand bags and jewelry now and it looked pretty nice. Checking out is always pleasant in my experiences, they always seem to have plenty of checkers with only 1 or 2 people in line! read more

I am a huge fan of Target. Since I was little this was our big box store. One time I even took the bus to the Target in my home town when I was fairly young but couldn't figure out how to get back on it so I walked home. My Target run was that important to little me. So, fast forward to today. I now have a 6 month old babe and Target is one of our weekly stops. It's amazing. It has cheap organic banana, maternity clothes, diapers, SALES. It's really the only clothing store I go to (other than Salvation Army and Goodwill if you count those) -- what can you do, their pants are so comfy. Now that I'm a mom I spend like 20 minutes trying to get the babe to fall asleep in the carrier and then 30+ minutes trying to make sure he stays asleep and dang, I am thankful that Target doesn't use that loud speaker thing for this reason! I also have refilled my water bottle at the Starbucks (which is a really great 'bucks. Always get my drink right!) a time or two which is awesome for those really hot days. So, Target is just that, Target. This one is full of great employees that make it just as I expect it to be, Target. I love you, Target. read more

Love this target! It's small enough that you can get in and out if you're in a rush yet big enough to house all of your necessary and unnecessary needs. They have a Starbucks which is a plus! However they don't have the food court thing, so no popcorn while shopping. Their parking lot is a war zone most days with people driving in all directions. Never had a problem with the staff there. Really have no complaints. Their food section is kind of small but it definitely covers the basics. Target is definitely my go-to for everything. read more

This Target is pretty much your standard Target. I personally enjoy it because I've grown up with a regular-sized Target similar to this one. It wasn't until I moved here to Des Moines that I was spoiled with the Super Target over in West Des Moines. Didn't feel like driving out so far to the West Des Moines location, so settled with this Target, and I felt that there was more to choose from. I work in customer service and treats my customers way better then this. I went in for two things, a Styrofoam cooler and a replacement Lava lamp light bulb. I asked three employees for assistants. I was told 3 times if I didn't see any then that means they were out without checking first. Very poor customer service. I will be taking my business elsewhere from now on. read more

To the 2 males (I can't call them gentlemen because no gentleman I have met in this environment has EVER acted like these 2 morons), you need to work on your public relations skills. These 2 idiots were attempting to help a young lady find a hair care product and walked in front of me (as I was trying to find my hair care product) not once, not twice, but 3 TIMES and not ONE TIME was there ever an "excuse me, pardon me" etc. I sometimes expect this type of behavior out of customers but NEVER out of someone that is in the customer service line of work.
