Target is quickly becoming a business guilty of false advertisement. They will promote sale prices and then at the resister not honor the sale price. This has happened pretty regularly to me especially at this target. On December 12th I went to this Target on Hall, I was there to purchase Christmas items and saw several signs up saying that if you bought any pair of pajamas you'd get the second pair 1/2 off. Nice bogo sale I thought. I was at the register with my buddy the elf onesie pjs and black panther pjs, both taken off a rack with the bogo sign above them. When the second cheaper pjs didn't ring up on sale, I asked the cashier why it had not rung up half off. She asked very rudely if I wanted her to call over a manager, I said yes please. When the manager arrived she looked through my bag and said they weren't pjs, they were costumes. Are you kidding me? She left saying that if they were pjs they would have rung up that way. I called customer service when I got to my car, knowing that it wasn't right, when they finally answered the store customer service lady asked what my problem was, after I asked to speak to a manger. really? After telling her about my ordeal she said, you can't combine children's pjs with adult pjs for that sale. I informed her that all the signs clearly stated, buy any pajamas get the second 1/2 off. She put me on hold for a manager, I hung up after being on hold for 37 minutes.
My husband later that evening called the 1-800 # and spoke to a representative who was able to use my receipt # and look up what I had purchased. Sure enough, she said based on their sale and the items I purchased I should have gotten the discount. She was very nice and sent us a $10 gift card (as my sale discount should have been that amount anyway) Although this was a nice gesture, I can honestly say that I don't think I'll continue shopping at this target. What about customer service? Where'd that go? When you devalue a customer in from of other costumers because you weren't trained to treat people with respect, or educate yourself on what is actually on sale in your stores, you will lose customers. Maybe not enough to hurt store profits right away, but if enough people have this experience and tell others about it, in time you'll lose business. I advise customers to take pictures of sale signs in this store before checking out, in case you have to prove it. read more
