I recently brought my daughter, Gianna, to firearms training with Ray at TSS Avondale, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. Ray was professional, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. Most importantly, he made sure Gianna felt safe, comfortable, and confident throughout her training. What stood out most to me was the way Ray connected with her. He has a great understanding of how to encourage and challenge his students without overwhelming them. His teaching style struck the perfect balance between technical instruction and real-world application, and he explained everything in a way that was clear and easy to understand. As a parent, it was great to watch Gianna not only learn important skills, but also grow in confidence during the session. Ray treated her with respect and encouragement, and he clearly recognizes the responsibility that comes with teaching younger students. He emphasized safety, responsibility, and mindset just as much as the mechanics of shooting, which I truly appreciated. Ray's approach made the training not just informative, but also a positive and empowering experience for Gianna. It was clear she walked away with more than just skills -- she left with a sense of accomplishment. I would highly recommend Ray and TSS Avondale to anyone looking for firearms training, whether for themselves or their children. His professionalism, knowledge, and care for his students really set him apart. Thank you, Ray, for making this such a meaningful experience for Gianna. read more

Ray Holcomb is the BEST firearms instructor you could possibly ask for. I scheduled a private lesson for my first time using a handgun. Ray is a fantastic teacher, and was very patient with me being a complete beginner. His experience in the FBI /law enforcement definitely shines through, as he shared a vast amount of wisdom with me ranging from safety procedures, proper technique for grip+aim, maintenance, concealed carry, etc. Once we covered the safety lesson in the classroom, we went to the range, and the teaching didn't stop there! Ray demonstrated everything slowly to me before prompting me to put the lessons into practice. While I was shooting, Ray was hypervigilant and offered feedback on things like body position, grip position, and even encouraged me to take my time to aim and to breathe. All of this came together in relieving me of any nervousness and enabled me to perform really well on the range! If you are new to firearms and interested in learning with a professional and personable instructor, I highly encourage you to schedule a private lesson with Ray Holcomb! I had an amazing first-time experience there and will certainly be back to practice at the range. read more

This was one of the best range experiences I've had. I am relatively new to shooting, and the range of handguns available for rental here was awesome. The range lanes are well lit, and the RSO spent some time with me giving me tips and correcting some of my newbie shooting errors. By the end of my time on the range I was shooting more accurately, and more confidently than before (and I've taken classes with other training centers). They were friendly, knowledgable, and more than happy to help me choose rental guns that fit my needs (as well as suggest others for future sessions). Their ammo is required if you rent a firearm from them, which is standard, but their prices were very reasonable. It cost me about half as much to shoot for 2.5hrs here as it did for 45 minutes at other ranges (with twice as much ammo, and two rental guns). Highly recommend this range for shooters of all levels. read more

My first time at this range, the customer service was very polite they took time to even show me a few rifles on the wall. I used the range and the prices were great. The range Officer "Kevin" was amazing he was polite and very helpful. I'm actually experienced but it was my gf first time shooting & he helped me teach her the proper way to shoot. I've never taught anyone and missed a few pointers but he was very helpful and she was able to hit the target on the bullseye because of his help! Rented a .22 pistol as well & it was well maintained & clean. Shot very clean. Thank you Target Shooting for the experience & not making my gf first time shooting scary! I appreciate that a lot ! I will definitely be back for the range and to also purchase a gun in the future read more

I will NEVER step foot back in this place!!! Range assistant was RUDE obnoxious and all over me and my son as soon as we stepped foot in the range. I have never been treated with such disrespect and for no reason. Seems like a frustrated overweight balding ex military. As a firearms expert and a regular at another shooting range in West Chester on 202. I was appalled at attitude and demeanor of this guy, I believe his name was Craig. I was planning on purchasing a new rifle after target practice but after the way I was spoken to I walked out and I will NEVER buy anything from this place ever again. Stay AWAY there are much better places to shoot and not be treated like a criminal or an idiot. read more

TSS is a great place operated by professionals to safely learn and operate firearms. Their training courses and instructors are professional and excellent. I have taken courses on basic operation for handguns as well as AR's. The classroom setting followed by using their indoor range for practical experience. I have take a private training session with Ray Holcomb to improve my accuracy. Ray made a few adjustments in my grip, aim, and trigger method and I could see the results immediately. All other business like transferring firearms , purchasing scopes etc are handled professionally and smooth. read more

As an experienced gun owner and firearms expert this was the Worse experience ever at a gun range or anywhere for that matter. The range manager was rude condescending obnoxious. Had a major attitude and made me feel so uncomfortable that as I was setting up I ended up walking out after being accused of laughing at his obnoxious directions and rude demeanor. Very unprofessional stay away from these guys read more
