Just finished the W/C class Thurs and Fri and want to say if you are taking this class this is the only place to take your class. Mel, Kenny and Tim have over 60 years combined professional experience with real life experienced shooting incidents while on the job. My friends that I have talked to that went elsewhere previous to me were astonished at what I told them this training involved after I finished Fri. They stated we didn't do any of that. Everyone in the class did 5 real-life active scenarios that put you in real life events that hopefully you will never come across. If you're thinking about this class, this is the only place to spend your money and get the most from it from true professionals that know their business and are not just trying to do a money grab. These guys are professional and answered every question and were attentive and focused individually on you any time someone asked a question. Also take advantage of the USCCA insurance at the end of the class, it is a small amount to cover yourself yearly if an incident should occur for all you have worked for in life. read more

I want to thank Kenny Porter and Mel Adam of Tactical Shepherd for the awesome training during our 16-hour MARYLAND WEAR AND CARRY PERMIT TRAINING COURSE this weekend, I went there I thinking I was a proficient shooter, after the 16 hour Training with these guys my shooting improved 100%, they watch you shoot and give you advice on what to adjust in your technique to put you on point After 16 hours with Mel and Kenny my first 15 qualifying rounds cut the X out of the bullseye, I've never shot that well before and it's all because of their knowledge and how they pass it on to their students The tactical portion of the class prepares you for handling your firearm under stressful situations, using different scenarios while putting safety first, They take their time to make sure everyone in the class is on the same page at all times. I just finished the MD Wear & Carry Course offered by Tactical Shepherd, LLC. It was an amazing course and the instructors Mel and Kenny were so knowledgeable and helpful. I was a bit nervous taking this course, as I am fairly new to semi-automatic handgun shooting. I have mostly fired rifle and revolvers. Mel and Kenny's main focus is on safety and proper handling of a firearm. I never once felt unsafe around my other classmates as, Mel and Kenny were attentive to making sure we handled our weapons safely. Also, they were so patient with me and all the members of our class. They didn't make anyone feel inadequate and are so positive in their instruction methods. Their combined real-life experience gives such an advantage to their ability to instruct as they applied personal knowledge in their training. Being a young female, I was concerned that I would not be treated with the same respect as a man when I walked into a gun shop to purchase a firearm , let alone train. I attended the Maryland Wear And Carry Training over two days as well as the 4 hour Utah nonresident training prior to the Maryland classes. I am an NRA Range Safety Officer as well as a Maryland DNR Hunting Safety Instructor and am very familiar with the safety protocols needed in training like this. I took my renewal for my Maryland wear and carry 8 hours best class I've been to. Mel and Kenny are very professional at what they teach and do. I did my renewal class on 7/10/23 and did my Utah CCW training class on 7/11/23. Very informative and great class hands down. Anyone who is on the fence about going to Tactical Shepherd LLC for MD W&C I highly recommend it. These guys are top notch. Mel teaches the class in a way that makes me feel if I were a soldier in battle, that's the guy I want leading the way and giving orders. I am looking forward to some more advanced training with them. We had a potential issue with a student in class not hearing or following commands and safety procedures and Kenny did everything everything necessary to address it and make sure there nobody was ever put in danger. I took the HQL training course here and I loved it. Kenny and Mel were such great teachers. I learned so much I couldn't believe how much I loved the course. Next I signed up for the woman's defense course. What a great course! Once again Kenny knocked it out of the park with his teaching! You can just tell how much care he puts into everything he does. A great training exercise. I've been to 10 or more hand gun classes and have learned something every time. Tactical Sheperd was no different. These guys did a great job and were more than professional. It was 20 degrees outside, and I expected no one would show up. Classroom training and outside training was way beyond. I was there for a renewal, but I would recommend this class for anyone thinking about a firearm purchase. Women or man do not feel intimidated. Hope is not a plan. They do live scenarios with actors to put in realistic do and don't shoot situations!
