Upon entering I check in with the staff in front and then headed upstairs to where the class was held. Our instructor Stephanie was engaging and made class fun. Got our fingerprint done during class and then after the lecture we went and did some live firing. One of the downside is the bathroom only has 1 urinal and 1 stall, on this day the urinal was out of order so a long wait time to use the bathroom since only have one stall. All in all, it was a very straight forward process to completing the class and getting my HQL certificate and I would highly recommend anyone who in the area and need a HQL class to get it here. As for me I won't be back unfortunately due to the distance, gas price, and having to drive through dingy Baltimore to get to this facility.

We enjoyed our time and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I don't know a lot about guns but they have a fair selection of guns to rent. On the website, it says that handgun rentals are $10 plus the cost of ammo. Ammo is $20 a box and you would like about two boxes just a heads up so you can plan. It is loud in there so you do need protective eyewear, and earplugs. You can get eyewear for about two bucks from Harbor freight. If you have AirPods that have noise cancellation I preferred those over earplugs because it was still a bit loud for me. Once you're in there for about 10 minutes, you focus more on shooting than anything else. For ladies, dress comfortably without oversize clothing because it can be a little annoying for you to try to shoot wearing clothes that are way too baggy. Leave your purse in the car because there is only a small ledge to rest your purse on. Just a reminder for new patrons, you are only allowed to carry your rented gun in the black caddy and loaded weapons are not to be taken from the shooting booth. I used the live chat for questions and the owner Will responded in real time (not some automated bot). Five stars for the website! My wife went first for an HQL. She is shy and never held a gun. I was nervous about her going alone. Will, said he would take good care of her. She came home beaming with pride. SHE DID IT! She said Will was very kind and patient. She said she loved the course. So we went and bought her her first firearm (S&W Equalizer 9mm). Now me. I went next for a wear/carry on 6/24, 6/25. I only own a 357 revolver. Will was gracious enough to let me use one of his personal semi-autos. I am not implying he does this for everyone. You are expected to bring your own firearm and should, but he graciously made an exception. His resume was impressive. I liked the fact we both did Basic Training and AIT at Ft. McClellan Ala. and were both MP's. You could tell from the opening moments of instruction he was prepared. He had a nice blend of mixing the formal PPT material with classroom interaction and hands on exercises to keep the students engaged. I appreciate this since I was an instructor on US ARMY Depo's for many years. I am a vet. I could have skipped the training with my DD-214, but I am sure glad I did not! Will taught me about things I was not aware of, from tactical techniques, to laws, to how to apply for my permit. Well worth my time and money. Never once felt "bored". I have six pages of notes crammed with important information from the sessions. On the range, I felt comfortable and safe. He took command of the range. I scored 100% I shook his hand and left. They have a lot of members from all walks of life, from hunters to law enforcement, casual target shooters to dedicated competitors. Despite recent pressures from Maryland legislation, Berwyn's membership remains strong and may even be growing larger as one of the few venues people can use for their hobby or career. The range itself is set in the woods of rural Bowie. Admittedly, it looks more like a Boy Scouts camp than a major high-tech range, but that's part of its charm. They have three "no sky" ranges, meaning there are baffles set to block any stray bullets that do not head down the range. A 50 foot, a 50 yard, and a 100 yard allow people to use whatever they need for their chosen firearms. As an outdoor range, you can expect to deal with weather and climate as well as insect life. I always check the forecast before deciding to head out there. As a private range, this is not accessible to the general public. To gain access you must send an e-mail asking about membership. Within a month, you will know if you are approved to join (I've never known anyone to be turned down). After that, you have access to the range, but must remember to follow all range rules, including proper safety, avoiding damage to the range, and cleaning up after yourself. If you're into firearms, for anything from hunting to marksmanship, and looking for a good range in the Prince George's and Arundel area, then I recommend looking into this place.
