Alas, I only needed to update my Rx lenses (loved my 2 yo frames from VisionWorks). I was quoted a price of nearly $300 for replacement progressive lenses including a modest discount (no insurance). Again, these were originally from here. I stopped by Costco and got the same progressive lenses quoted (but now including both scratch and UV coatings) for just $130 + $25 non-store frame-fitting fee. End of story!

The rest of the staff is nice enough, but the rest of the clinic is VERY disorganized. I was constantly shuffled from one place to another in the clinic several times, and in the confusion my initial set of contacts were thrown away and they didn't have a second set of the same type to give me. I was never given a case for them and I ended up leaving with a secondary pair of disposable lenses I did not like. I also tried ordering safety glasses, and wasted weeks before finding out their lab doesn't carry what they offered; a big waste of time for nothing. The only option was to make yet ANOTHER trip back to look at what they do have, there was no way to look at them online. And of course, the next available pair was even MORE expensive. Their website promises 100% satisfaction, but it doesn't seem to mean much.

I was there for a total of 2 hours which wasn't bad. The procedure didn't take too long. They gave me clear instructions prior to the procedure and instructions for after-care. The office called me at home to see if all was well and Dr. Mudie also called to see how I was doing. I have a follow up appointment next week but am doing as well as I can be after surgery. I appreciate the care I was given.

It was a Tuesday daughter needed new contacts and needed them NOW. Actually, she had prom in three…read moredays on Friday. Yes, teenagers procrastinate. (I know--shocker, right?) By my calculations, this called for desperate measures. I couldn't take her anywhere until I got off of work. So I figured that regular optical places would be closed by then. After calling around, I was right. Then the thought--how about some place in a mall or department store like JC Penny's or Sears? Bingo! JC Penny Optical could take her in and I made an appointment for 6:30. Dr. Doroudian was terrific! She was animated, funny, and energetic. I have been seeing optometrists for a few decades, now. They have all been very professional and....well.....professional. I will not say "boring" because they were....professional. Not to say that Dr. Doroudian wasn't, but she just was such a pleasure to work with. We loved her! She had been with JC Penny Optical for some years, but then worked somewhere else for a while, then came back. As a matter of fact, this was her first month back at JC Penny Optical. They really wanted her back. I can see why. She gave a professional exam, didn't try to up sell anything, and gave my daughter a pair of contacts to hold her until her prescription came in. This was for a contact fitting, but she automatically gave us not only the written prescription for the contacts, but for the glasses as well. She and her husband also produce movies "on the side!" As a matter of fact, her husband, a clinical psychologist, has had two movies premiere at The Loft! Is that cool, or what? I highly recommend Dr. Doroudian. She is there only certain days of the week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, I think. For sure on Tuesdays. She is also at the JC Penny Optical at the El Con Mall on other days.

I always like going in to Sunglass Hut, they are so helpful. On this day I went in with my…read moremotorcycle helmet in hand and asked if I could try out some sunglasses with my helmet on. The sales person did not bat an eye, he said sure. He pulled out the sun glasses I was wanting to test out. After I tried them on he suggested a couple of others that he noticed were popular with the motorcycle crowd. I will admit that the sunglasses are a little pricey, but you get what you pay for and on top of that they have great customer service.
