The office is very clean and the doctor went above and beyond by recommending supplements that would support eye health and possibly reduce migraines. They delivered pleasant, convenient, and high-quality care, I'm glad they're here in Goleta.

Which I did. And right away I was walked into exam room. The optometrist started the exam and asked some questions, since I hadn't had an exam since I had my lasik surgery years ago, he suggested to get the extra check ups, eye pressure... but he didn't push he just suggested and I did decide to do it. Great customer service, knowledgeable. We tried different contact lenses until the third pair was tried, and that was the best one. Very patient and not rushing the exam, answered questions I had. And he gave me prescriptions for both eyeglasses and contacts, without me having to ask or him pushing me to buy glasses there. Will definitely use this as my future exam place!!

I was treated courteously and professionally by the front desk staff, who ran me through a battery of tests. My optometrist was Dr Sandra Chou. Wow. Smart as a whip. Brimming over with energy. Charming. She answered all my questions graciously and intelligently. I'm interested in science and health, and she took all my inquiries seriously answered them comprehensively. She took the time to thoroughly explain the thinking behind her recommendations. As long as I live in Santa Barbara, Sandra Chou will be my go-to for eye work. I have two complaints about the office. They had nothing to do with the personnel. (1) The questionnaire they distribute is incredibly intrusive, asking numerous questions that have nothing to do with eye care. I care a lot about personal privacy, and if the questionnaire had been on the web, I would have gone elsewhere. (2) There is not much space total, and the "waiting room" basically consists of just loitering outside the front door. But they didn't keep me waiting long, and the exam was worth it. Dr. Chou is a huge asset.

I called Dr. Poulin's office one morning when an inflamed eye had become almost unbearable…read more His staff fit me in that same morning, unlike others who wanted me to wait 10 or 12 days to get in. I spent at most 15 minutes in the nice lobby area before being called to the exam room. He spent quite a lot of time diagnosing the problem with my eye and then efficiently removed something that was blocking a tear duct, and gave me some prescription eye drops for the underlying problem, with instructions to call back next morning to check the progress. By the next morning, my eye was much, much better!

I was shocked! He explained with my reliance on my iPad and smart phone my regular prescription would be too strong for reading and that's why such weak prescription on the bottom. Considering I can't make out the letter E on the top of the chart and then attempting to read on the top of my glasses he was right. From experience other doctors miss nuances like this. It's where an average doctor moves up a star for having reviewed my chart well enough to know I now do my magazine and newspaper subscriptions reading on my iPad Mini. Several years ago he did my sister's post-op care and noticed an infection before she was even aware of it yet. That gave him the fifth star as I was in that visit.

I liked Dr. Bob. I left my exam feeling like my very specific work concerns were addressed by him…read moreproperly. But it was after leaving the exam room and wondering over to the in-house optician (Eastwood) to possibly select a pair of glasses that things appeared to go south. I was immediately confronted with "age-ism" (at 54?) and the assumption that Dr. Bob had gone 'light' on my prescription because I was over 50 and D.A. Eastwood believed I needed something stronger. He hadn't examined me... it didn't make sense. A couple quotes on different frames and lenses were provided (all outside my current budget), so I took a card and excused myself. Prescription in hand I decided to visit Costco (meh) and then onto the internet. I soon discovered that I was missing my 'PD' (pupillary distance) on the prescription and called back to Associated Eye Specialists. They told me that they didn't have the PD, but continued and said that when I was having the glasses made, to have that vendor call the doc for the PD number?!? So which is it? Yes. I know they have my PD, but no, they've refused to provide it to me. So no; even after filling out paperwork, waiting 30 min for my appointment, eye drops, exam, getting a prescription, I still can't order any glasses. Apparently this a common practice. Completely unacceptable.
