Got an exam, the doctor wrote down the wrong numbers I suppose. Got the glasses and the right eye was all wrong. My second pair were created as progressives, when I had ordered standard. Both sets had to be redone and I had to go back in for another eye exam to sort things out. I will not be going back there for exams again. The staff are super courteous but the system is not good at all. They send you texts saying your glasses are ready, but they aren't actually ready. You swing by and find out that you have to wait for a call from them before they are ready for pickup. So I had to just ignore multiple texts saying my glasses were ready, and wasted time making a trip to the store. By the time I'm about to pick up the glasses the second time I have very little faith that things will turn out OK. I was understanding and courteous the entire time, but it was frustrating. When I picked them up they were good the second time, but the fitting was rushed and I felt like the staff member just wanted to get me out of there quickly. Final note: the prices. They may not have any control over this at the store but the pricing is just too high. Luxottica is ripping people off. I have very good insurance (EyeMed) and haven't gotten glasses or contacts in 2 years, yet I still had to pay hundreds of dollars to get these new ones. That's just not right. I spent over a thousand dollars on prescription Oakley sunglasses at lenscrafters in santa barbara. But one of the arms of the sunglasses was lost in an accident. They just told me they cannot replace the arm? So now my very expensive sunglasses are useless! I am going to Eyeglass Factory on Milpas Street because they have free eye exam and BOGO free pair of glasses that don't cost $1200. read more

Very disappointed with the service from LensCrafters, I bought new glasses in January and noticed scratches start to develop even though they have scratch resistant coating. After contacting them they told me they don't cover lens at all and there is no warranty. Every other lens manufacturer I have purchased from covers them up to a year but apparently LensCrafters doesn't. Looks like I will not be purchasing from here again. read more

I have only had positive experiences at LensCrafters SB! I now have two pairs of glasses (one sunglasses, one regular) from LensCrafters that I absolutely love. I recently visited Lencrafters in Santa Barbara for an eye exam and to replace my glasses. The staff were polite and professional and everything went smoothly from the time I was greeted at the door. Everyone was attentive and patient and I was given plenty of time to select just the right frames from the huge selection. I was served by Frank, the manager, and he went the extra mile to make sure I got the best deal on my glasses. Man not sure why the lack of love for this place but I had a terrific experience here. I came in for a prescription and they were fast and efficient. Doug and Selina were very helpful and pleasant. Dr Lipsum was courteous and professional snd most of all friendly. Put me totally at ease, I most whole heartedly with my whole heart recommend coming here for a prescription. Oh another thing they give you 20 percent off if your a triple A member . Wow incredible so the whole exam snd everything was only like $52 dollars. Why pay more??? In fact as a recent transplant from San Diego this is by far the biggest bargain I've found in Santa Barbara. Take advantage people it's like finding free money and who doesn't like that?? Oh Dr Lipsum went to College of the Pacific one of the best Optometry schools in the world!!!!!!!! There's only one other Optometrist who can match Dr Lipsum and that was Doug Swanson in San Diego and he's retired. Interestingly they both went to the same world renowned school. Don't put it off get you prescription today, and ask for Dr Lipsum as your Optometrist, but if you don't get her don't fret because I'm sure the other optometrists there are almost as good as her. Which is great!!! The two best optometrists I've ever had Doug Swanson and Dr Lipsum, and Dr Swanson is retired and you can't see him anymore. Very pleased customer. Douglas (Doug) is the man. He knew everything that he had in stock at the store and was upfront and very clear with me on what I wanted to get done. He did not try to sell me on lenses even after I had told him what I wanted! He made sure that my order would go through without any of the "it's gonna be a special order" nonsense. LensCrafters prides itself on having glasses ready in an hour and he stood by it. After three locations in different parts of California, this one finally had everything I needed. I was able to order over the phone and they're having my order shipped to me. Don't waste your time going to Santa Maria, Santa Barbara gets it done. I had a great experience at LensCrafters. I only went in for the an appointment expecting they wouldn't have any designer brands I liked, but they did and more affordable than anywhere else! I had glasses and sunglasses picked out five minutes within being there. Clay made the made the glasses buying experience quick and enjoyable, even while he was checking in on other customers. They were also able to have both pairs of glasses done in around two/three hours. The doctor was great as well fastest eye appointment I have had, with very little wait time. read more

This was a rather surprising visit on multiple levels. I was pleasantly surprised r.e. the quality of their selection - plenty of known brand names, and a really great selection of a variety of frames. Honestly, although there aren't that many other optical stores to compare them in this town, I found more I liked than any other store I went to in Santa Barbara County - No kidding.... The problem/issue was the customer service, as it was inexperienced and unprofessional. Their overall pricing scheme can be tricky/complicated due to their varying frequent discounts that are brief in length. It's confusing IMO, especially when you try to figure out whether your insurance will pay for any of it, or none at all. read more

Walked into the Santa Barbara store to check out new frames and the store manager greeted us in an unfriendly manner. It goes like this: Manager: "Don't touch all the frames because I have to clean them". Me: Silence. No comment. Turned and walked out. I called before I went into the store and they told me they had the Tom Ford frames I wanted. But after the interaction we had with the manager 30 seconds after walking in, I'll go elsewhere. I was pleasantly surprised to find a very capable doctor, equipment, medical staff, friendly staff, easy access to insurance and high end Varilux pruduct with a satisfactory selection of frames. I even discovered a 35 dollar insurance plan that I decided to take them up on. I didn't expect this, so thought I should report on it. Note: I had good insurance. I visited LensCrafters in Santa Barbara to have some prescription sunglasses filled. The salesperson was curious about my regular (brand new) RX eyeglasses I was wearing. He asked where I got them. I replied by telling the name of the online company I bought them from. He then became more intrigued and asked to have a closer look. Keep in mind...these eyeglasses had absolutely nothing to do with the separate set of frames I was looking to fill at the store. He brought them to the lab in back to determine what kind of lens material the company used. I never should have let him take them. My glasses came back filthy, covered in fingerprints, with a scratch across both the frame and lens. When confronted, the salesperson played dumb and "didn't know what happend." I then asked to speak with the manager, who also refused to let the store take responsibility. In order to keep my business, she offered a small discount on the RX sunglasses I was looking to fill. I declined and took my business (and damaged glasses) elsewhere. Never before have I experienced such horrible customer service. A few days later, I attempted to contact a corporate office to file a complaint. I left a message, but never received a response. This occured about 2 years ago. Been stewing over it ever since. Glad I'm able to get this off my chest. read more

I went to Lens Crafters get a new eye exam and new glasses. The optician was competent, but the sales person was not. First of all, he should have told me not to keep the same old frames. aTheir frames prices were all very high. Secondly, he talked a lot about my great savings I did have insurance. I had to wait a few weeks , and the new glasses I thought were ok, but after a few months I returned. The far visión part was not clear, and when I entered into a store, it was blurry for a long time, unlike my previous pair. He dismissed me , saying he would just adjust them on my face. After some months,I decided to try Costco. I brought in my prescription, and ordered a new pair with the exact same features, and new frames. Despite not being able to use my insurance, the price was less than I paid Lens crafters and I got new frames ! Plus I was able to go with no appointment, and the salesperson was efficient and helpful. I got my glasses in 5 days ! She was much more attentive and helpful than Lens crafters. read more

I've never really had a super positive experience at Lens Crafters in the past, but after my last appointment I would definitely recommend. Once I arrived Georgette Alfonso took it from there. Not only did she have a great personality she knew what she was talking about. Very smart, went over all of the options available for me with absolutely no "sales pressure" which I've experienced in the past. My appointment was with Dr. Jerry Neel, again nothing but positive feedback. Great personality, extremely knowledgeable and took the time to go over everything with me so I understood my options. I didn't feel rushed whatsoever. Over all great experience, no hesitations on my next visit. read more

I wouldn't think that a chain like Lenscrafters could be great, but the Santa Barbara office is indeed great. My husband has challenges that make going to a place like this hostile: lights, noise, music, people talking loudly, the smells, etc. Before I made an eye exam appointment for him, I spoke to an associate and he was very accommodating. He said sure we can take care of your husband's needs. I made the appointment and gave them the scoop on my husbands challenges. When we showed up the to appointment, they knew what was needed and accommodated him. I was and am impressed by everyone at this Lenscrafters including the Optometrist. She was thorough. In my opinion all the staff I encountered there are caring because the Manager is caring. That's the only way everyone there can be so stellar. The moment you walk in someone will address you in about 4 seconds. They take care of you excellently. read more

I read a lot of the other reviews for this location and to be honest I was very scared to go here. After facing my fears and for the reason they were the only optometrist with availability that day I stepped foot in the door. From start to finish the experience was incredible. They were very respectful, professional, kind, and caring. The doctor spent a lot of time with me and made sure to tell me all the details of my prescription. I was impressed by his clarity and patience. The sales associate that helped me was great. He helped when I needed it and left me alone when I wanted. They are a out-of-network partner for VSP so they don't take the full insurance, but they do give you a discount which equates for the lack of insurance. In the end of the day I got Raybans and only paid $120 for the exam, frames, and lenses. To me that is a steal. I guess they have a high turnover rate which accounts for all of the bad reviews. I've been to this LensCrafters several times over the years. Seems like every time I have to work with them, the experience gets more painful. This last visit, the doctor wrote me the correct prescription, but the staff ordering my contacts ordered the wrong ones. Honest mistake, I guess. They didn't want to exchange them initially, because I had opened the box. It wasn't until I put them in that I knew there was something wrong with the prescription. The manager was prompt to resolve the issue and recognized it as an employee mistake on their part, so they ordered me the correct box at no cost to me. A month later, I called to get an update and they told me that they were on back-order. Poor communication, perhaps? Finally received the correct prescription... Won't be going back for anything other than eye exams, and will continue to order my contacts & glasses online. read more

I received an email about an appointment from their associated optometrist, Buena Ventura Optometry. I received a reminder prior to my confirming. In the reminder email I drilled down to confirm and was redirected to reschedule. I called to see why. "Oh, your time slot was given to someone else." me, "But the reminder email was sent just last night." Answer," I don't know why that email was sent. We gave you time slot to someone else." Guess it's time to find an optometrist who can keep their appointments with patients. And if Lens Crafter's believes this is an acceptable business practice, a new place for glasses as well. read more
