Go here if you want professional courteous service and your best vision possible. I came here on a fluke as they were able to get me in right away if I could be there in 20 minutes. They also had my new glasses ready for me in under a week as I am about to move away. My eyes are very happy now and the issues I had with my last Rx are long gone. This office is top notch. read more

I had an emergency and felt I needed to be seen and Dr Mietus came in on his day off to see me. I have always enjoyed Dr. Mietus and my whole family sees him. To come in and see me on his day off is just not the type of customer service you get anymore and I really appreciate him and his staff. read more

After seeing two eye doctors who both told me they couldn't help me, I saw Dr. Mietus. I was sure he would tell me the same but in one visit, he helped me! He was so thorough, asking questions no eye professional has ever asked me, and explained my vision issues. He gave me new contact lenses to try and ordered glasses for different activities. It's been a month now and I CAN SEE! The new contacts are amazing and the new glasses over my contacts have solved my various vision problems. I can drive confidentally again, hike without tripping (because I can see the rocks and paths) and work on my laptop and read (to perform duties in my profession as a writer) plus read for pleasure. I can also see well enough to write this review on my phone! I thought I would be stuck with double vision (as previous eye doctors told me to "get used to it") and horrible dry eyes and eye pain but Dr. Mietus sorted it all out, patiently explained everything, and resolved my many vision issues. He and his staff are amazing! I'm so grateful for their expertise and helping me see like I've not been able to for years. I highly recommend Dr. Mietus. I can only give five stars but I'd give 10 stars if it was an option read more

We have been patients of Dr. Mietus for 15 years. Dr. Mietus give the very best quality of care - we are very grateful to have found him. His staff is very caring and helpful, too. Thank you so much, Dr. Mietus! read more

I am absolutely delighted to be reviewing this establishment. I travelled to Santa Barbara on a college visit and forgot my contacts. I scrambled all morning calling just about every optometrist in the general vicinity... i was lost. That is until I stumbled upon Dr. Mietus. He was very generous, useful and saved the weekend. He gave me samples that I was able to put in my eyes in the parking lot. I cannot express the amount of relief that I felt as a result of Dr's generosity. If you need an eye DR, COME HERE!! read more

Been a patient of Dr. Mietus for over 2 years and he has always been so patient with me and been very accurate and takes his time when examining my eyes and is very gentle. Great personality and eases the appointment with humor. I suffer from 3 different eye conditions that even affect my balance and his prescription always works for me and he also prescribes my cousin who tore his retina and he drives for a living now. I would definitely recommend Dr. Mietus !! He goes above and beyond. read more

My wife and I have been customers of his for years now... we haven't switched out of pure laziness, until now. 1. He and his staff don't care at all about COVID. They DO NOT wear masks at all (Cornelius, aka Neil) or wear them improperly (front desk staff had them around their chins or below their nose). 2. Neil himself didn't wear a mask and even encouraged me to take mine OFF because "I'm not worried" (his words). 3. He did NOT CLEAN any of the surfaces I was told to put my face on for the exam. 4. Then... He proceeded to sniffle then SNEEZE in his hand, did NOT clean his hands, then proceeded to touch my face and eyes, even removing my contacts with his dirty hands. After the appt he sniffled more and said "Maybe I'm alergic to your calogne", nice try Neil, I'm not wearing any. I do NOT care what you think about COVID, whether you think it's real, fake, the worst, a conspiracy, it doesn't matter - you should treat your customers with respect and if you're getting sick you do NOT come in to work. COVID or not, clean your surfaces. No washing, no hand sanitizer promoted, nothing... that's unaccetable in these times. As of this week, my wife and I are no longer customers. And even before this incident, his front office staff is unfriendly, at least to us. read more

Went in for first time today and love the place, everyone that works here is very nice and knowledgeable. Without a doubt this is where I'm going to go on a yearly basis from now on. read more

It's taken me a while to share this (a year or two) but I was in Dr. Mietus' office for a routine visit. I was just diagnosed with chronic illnesses as a child. He ranted to me for a good 10 minutes about how no one would never take me seriously because I was too "fluffy" the word he used to mean overweight. He told me that I needed to go on a fad diet and lose some weight otherwise I would never get better because no one would believe I was sick, he didn't believe I was sick. He yelled at me for 10 minutes before saying that it was "okay that I was fluffy because I still looked good". It was disgusting. I almost ran out of the office because of how much he demeaned and hurt me. I left in tears beyond hurt by his words. If you want a doctor that cares more about his ads than treating patients with dignity and respect Dr. Mietus is your guy. I have never had another person leg alone a doctor tell me things as awful as he did. I was struggling with an eating disorder and he had the audacity to tell me no doctor would ever believe that I was sick because I was slightly overweight. I never give business bad reviews because I know if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it, but Dr. Mietus was so disrespectful and awful I wouldn't want anyone else going to him. read more

I treated for over a year with two other optometrists and an ophthalmologist with no solution for my double vision. In a last ditch effort, my optometrist referred me to Dr. Mietus. HE KNOWS HIS STUFF!! Within one appointment he was able to reassure me that I was not developing MS and got me back into contact lenses! His treatment was nothing short of a miracle for my complicated situation. I was so impressed that I brought my children in. With the help of Laura, they were able to treat my son's undiagnosed vision issues which were impeding his academic growth. After about 9 months of vision therapy and daily vision exercises (that we're really like games!) my son made nearly two years growth in his reading and is now caught up to grade level! Just writing this brings happy tears to my eyes. Dr. Mietus truly transformed our lives. read more

I've been with Dr. Mietus for many years. He's great. He'll spend lots of time and he's very knowledgeable. I highly recommend him!

If anyone is considering getting vision therapy after a concussion, I highly recommend Dr. Mietus. I went to two others before him and he was the best. Vision therapy made a huge difference for me. If any of you are wondering if it is worth the cost, I can't promise that it will be. But for me, it transformed my life for the better. I was having having issues with eye strain, pain, and reading difficulties after a concussion and once I started dedicating myself 100%, I really started to see a huge difference. Laura, my therapist, was sensational too. read more

loved my experience here. the desk clerk is very likeable and the doctor is one of the best eye doctors. 10/10.

Dr. Mietus is phenomenal! So relaxed patient and kind. He solved the missing link to my son's learning challenges and has forever shifted our lives for the better! Steve in the front is a master at simplifying insurance coverage and choosing frames. Endless thank you's! read more

I'm so grateful that I found Dr. Mietus! After years of prescriptions that felt 'wrong' or seemed to only work for a short period of time, I feel like I've finally had a correct diagnosis. Dr. Mietus is patient and is a wonderful listener - he really takes his time going over issues you've had, doing a variety of out of the box tests and figuring out the underlying cause of vision issues. And, everyone in the office is so friendly and helpful! Highly recommend! read more

We were referred to Dr Mietus by a friend and I am so thankful. Steve at the front desk made it so easy to book an apt and was so kind when we arrived. Love that they have been in this location for nearly 30 years as one of the older long standing businesses on Coast Village Road. Super easy to park right in front. I brought my daughter to have her eyes checked and Dr. Mietus was so kind and caring with her. He made the entire experience truly positive- our daughter actually had fun! The office is a comfortable place and for children ideal with lots of "kid" type things to see and be engaged by. We could not be more pleasantly surprised with our experience. Mom and Dad will be going here for our next eye exams as we think that highly of Dr Mietus. Highly recommend! read more

I highly recommend Dr. Mietus. I have worn glasses since I was a small child so I have been to MANY optometrists. No other doctor has taken as much time on an eye exam like Dr. Mietus and I mean that in a positive way. He takes the time to get to know his patients, their medical history and runs all appropriate tests. I felt comfortable and trust that I have the right prescription for my complicated vision. Thank you to Dr. Mietus and your great staff who helped get me an appointment right away and worked with my not so great insurance coverage! read more

I popped in and asked the nice man behind the desk to fit my glasses for me. He did a good job, free of charge! I will definitely return for any eyeball needs. read more

Dr. Mietus is an outstanding optometrist. He has treated our entire family. He has made significant fine-tune adjustments to our prescriptions resulting in better vision. One of my children came in for a second opinion regarding strabismus surgery. Dr. Mietus suggest a better glasses prescription and vision therapy and she avoided surgery and has gained stereo vision. I recommend Dr. Mietus heartily. read more

Excellent. I've been having some vision issues and after the worst of it healed up, I still had odd problems focusing. He picked up on what was going on (just my eyes getting old) and also other issues I had but wasn't aware of. Anyone who has kids should take them to him. He also has a holistic approach which is something I didn't really think of as a factor for vision. read more

Dr. Mietus is a wonderful optometrist. I came in having problems with my prescription and after the examination, he knew exactly what I was experiencing before I even explained my situation. He gave me a new prescription that has been perfect. I recommend Dr. Mietus to anyone in the Santa Barbara area especially if you have problems with reading or focusing because he is also a Vision Therapist. read more

A MIRACLE!!! I've needed corrective lenses since I was 8 years old. I've had my eyes examined every year and was properly corrected for distance. I was always that kid who avoided sports or any precision activity. I thought I was just a klutz or had dyslexia or...??? In fact, I loved Tennis so much I had to train myself to compensate where the racket would meet ball as I would always miss it if I didn't. I'm well into my 50's and my vision worsened. I thought it was age and no amount of distance correction was helping. Within 3 minutes of being in Dr. Mietus' examination room, I was tested for and diagnosed with misaligned vision... This was the first time I had such a test despite giving my symptoms to every other optometrist about my headaches and poor vision. It's impossible to explain what a difference it has made and how immediate the results were.... I was corrected within seconds with prism lenses. I couldn't believe it....and to top it off, I didn't pay anymore than I've ever paid elsewhere...Don't tell him but I would gladly have paid exponentially more for this vision/life altering correction.....I'm told this test is available but not many optometrists choose to offer it....Thank you Dr. Mietus......Good vision truly is more than just 20/20!!!!! read more
