When they sold the place we went elsewhere to see if we could get our glasses a little cheaper (our insurance had changed and it was more costly). That was a huge mistake. We went to 2 other places in town and had so much trouble getting our prescriptions right at both of them. Seriously, Amy returned her glasses 2 times at one place and 1 time at another. We then decided to go to B&T and when we came back, we were greeted like old friends and had a great experience. I actually had a problem with my prescription, but was told to come back in for another exam and Dr. Azzam was great and Cheryl took great care of my order and the finer details of fitting the glasses on my big head. Very detailed and extensive exam to find the issue. I then got my new glasses with the updated prescription and they're better than I imagined. Seriously, the best glasses I've had so far. Turns out the amount of money spent at B&T was on par with the money at the other 2 places in town, so lesson learned. I'm writing this to spare you the discomfort of having to learn that lesson too. Go to B&T and you'll be happier for it! We won't be going anywhere else again.

They have an equipment that can scan the back of the eye to detect any issues. Dr. Skromne took the time to explain and show me what the scans indicated. I did not feel rushed at all, and actually thought they were extra patient with me especially since I kept switching deciding between getting glasses or prescription sunglasses. Dr. Dea did a thorough exam to get me set up with my first pair of glasses ever. She explained things well. I then went over to the glasses section to pick out a pair of frames and had my measurements taken and the technician also let me try on glasses outside to see what they look like in the daylight. I returned 2 weeks later to have my eyes dilated for the rest of the exam as I was not able to have them dilated at my first visit. I had my 2nd exam with Dr. Rebekah Klein. She was great too! It was in this visit that my glasses were ready for pick up. I got progressive glasses because I have some vision loss for distance and it's been really hard to read on my phone. So they are pretty much worn only for driving and when in my phone. I feel I am still getting used to the glasses when driving. I also want to comment that the front desk staff have been nice and have returned my calls quickly when I have had to contact the office.

She is very thorough and explains things well. I'm also very impressed with the staff at Ventura Optometric Vision Care. The workers at the front desk are unfailingly courteous and efficient. Let me give you an example of how efficient this place is. When your glasses are ready, the office sends you a notification. Contrary to what you might expect, you don't need to schedule an appointment to pick them up. You can just drop by anytime and they will have someone available to take care of any adjustments needed to ensure a comfortable fit. So convenient! The location, on Victoria is also very convenient. As is the private parking lot. The waiting room is spacious and reasonably comfortable. There are magazines for people without phones. There is also a children's play area. Oh, and they have a pretty huge selection of frames here too. Frames for days. So many frames. I mean really a lot. Maybe like a thousand. I'm not kidding. Maybe more. From the front desk to the people in the back who get you ready and do a thorough exam before I was seen by Dr Funnel. He explained to me in detail what was going on and set me up with a treatment which I do at home. I appreciate that there are still Optometrist like Dr Funnel as well as his highly trained staff. Absolutely terrible experience I have ever had with an eye doctor…read more This is someone I had been seeing for years - including the older Dr. Funnell. However, my last visit in 2025 was my final visit. This doctor tried to diagnose me something very serious and recommended that I see a specialist that wasn't even qualified to diagnose the condition he suggested. He also stated what he said were facts about the illness, which were incorrect. Needless to say, he scared me to such an extent...that I did go to a specialist. I didn't have the condition. The handling of it was callous and impersonal. I have moved on to another eye doctor and will never visit this one again.

I do not feel comfortable. calling the main office line anymore and encountering the office manager again after she has twice offered such disparaging treatment towards me. If you provide a specific owners name and a direct phone line and time to call or specifically directed email, then I will reach out to discuss further. Otherwise I am afraid I will just be going through the same scenario again with the front office/Manager calling this main phone line. I believe her name is Liz. After being a patient for sometime, I had to leave this office, even though I liked the doctor and eye tech, due to very disparaging and unacceptable treatment. I've written an official letter to the doctor to inform him of what has happened. I don't know if office manager screens his mail. I pray he sees it so they can make improvements based on my experiences. This place continually tries to upsell you. They offered me tear duct plugs for my dry eyes and…read morewhen I asked, I was told it was completely covered and there was no cost to me. They even told me to come in as often as I wanted because they were basically free. They never gave me a cost estimate because they said it was covered. 2 years later I get a bill for over $1k because apparently it wasn't covered and in the entire 2 years (over a dozen visits I had in that office) they never once told me that I owed them money. They just kept letting it build up. I would never have gotten this service if I had known it was costing me money each time. They never once told me there was a deductible in the 2 YEARS I came to the office. Only kept continually telling me it was 'completely covered' by insurance. I didn't even know they were billing my medical insurance and not my eye insurance because it was a 'medical' service. They didn't explain any of that. I did complain and they did write off some of the cost, but they are still expecting me to pay several hundred dollars for a treatment I would have turned down at the very beginning if they had told me there were any cost. The fact that it was 2 years of fees building up before they let me know is ridiculous. The whole thing feels like a scam. I shouldn't have to pay any fees, but I'm done arguing. I just hope that this review warns others to at least don't take their word for anything and double check your own insurance even if they tell you things are covered. And make sure you are asking if they are billing eye insurance or medical. I always thought it was weird they kept trying to upsell additional tests, etc, but didn't think it was a big deal because you can turn those down. But I should have gone with my first instincts and found a different Dr. after my first visit.
