Target way up in Washington Heights is not my favorite. I've only been here a couple times. They have the standard groceries. In this neighborhood it's crazy busy and service from their employees becomes difficult to receive. I'll stick with Target closer to home. Plus as you can see by my receipt my daughter shops for us at Herald Square when she's on her way home from work. If you live or work nearby this location you still need to shop at this Target for their store brand and lower prices overall!! read more

It's a clean store. The selections of items are very limited. I wish they could carry more items, but Target is always welcome where their stores go. The workers in the store seem to be very nice and helpful and you get a good amount of product for the price. I would shop there again. read more

I'm a black woman and the way I was followed around the store today was everything but subtle and it was extremely offensive. I understand that it's normal to keep an eye out; but blatantly following me around the store when I was doing nothing suspicious was extremely dehumanizing and i was clearly targeted because of racism. I went today to buy some hi-chews and found them in the pasta section. I was perplexed because I never knew that hi-chews were pasta. If it weren't for me venturing through the isles of this target I would've never seen them. Also there were no belts for women, only for men. Decent selection. read more

Welcome to affordable clothes, groceries, and various products at the newest uptown Target outlet. On a Sunday late morning visit (Aug 15, 2021), the new Target was busy but not mobbed as of yet! This store size is compact but they have a lot of variety from men's and women's wear, skincare products, toys, games, and other items. We were lucky to get a giveaway bag as we checked out which had a Target customized bag with some target branded items of sunglasses, mini-fan that plugs into your phone, and a reusable cup. With the high volume of stores similar to the Marshalls at the nearby GWB bus station mall, I hope that they are able to keep all the items stocked and available. Finally shout out to a local connection with Forever Coffee Bar has a partnership with Target and we got a coupon for the coffee bar shop in the giveaway too. read more

PLEASE READ -- This could save you a trip to this Target and spare you a bad experience. On March 14th, around 4:25 pm, I had one of the worst shopping experiences I've ever had at Target. I am a regular shopper at the Washington Heights Target because it's a convenient location for me, close to my doctor, my daughter's pediatrician, our dentist, and her school. I was shopping with my 9-year-old daughter and picking up a few items, including two travel-sized Purell hand sanitizers. I noticed that one was about $2 more expensive than the other, so I decided to put it back. I asked my daughter to call over the Target employee assisting at the self-checkout so that he could remove the item from my purchase list. When the employee arrived, I politely asked him to remove the sanitizer and pointed at the screen. He asked me which item it was, so I pointed again and showed him the sanitizer. Instead of helping, he responded with an attitude, insisting it was not the same item. I calmly explained that it was, but he continued to give me a hard time, saying that the item had a different name. After asking him to scan it himself, he finally confirmed that it was indeed the same item, yet he offered no apology for his mistake or the way he spoke to me. As I was leaving, I approached him and told him that the way he spoke to me was unacceptable. Shockingly, the employee, Sebastian, began yelling at me, saying that I was the one being rude and that I needed to leave. His behavior was completely unprofessional and disrespectful, especially since I was with my young daughter. It felt like he took advantage of the fact that I'm a woman and was accompanied by my child to make a scene and speak to me in such a demeaning way. If I had been a man, I doubt he would have responded in the same manner. What made the situation worse was the lack of support from management. The store manager was only about three registers away and witnessed the interaction, yet he did nothing to intervene or de-escalate the situation. When I approached the manager to report what had happened, all he offered was a generic apology and a scripted response. He didn't pull the employee aside, ask if I was okay, or express any real concern about how I had been treated. As someone who has worked in retail and managed stores myself, I know how to handle situations like this, and this was not it. To make matters worse, when I contacted Target's HR and customer service, all I was told was that they were sorry for the inconvenience and that they would send me a $10 gift card. Honestly, I don't need a $10 gift card. I spend hundreds of dollars at Target every month and shop there weekly because of the convenience. What I expected was accountability, a commitment to addressing the employee's behavior, an acknowledgment that the way I was treated was wrong, and reassurance that steps would be taken to prevent this from happening to another customer. Customers are the foundation of any business, and it's unacceptable to be treated with such disrespect. This experience was not only upsetting for me but confusing and distressing for my daughter, who couldn't understand why someone was yelling at her mom. This situation could have and should have been handled much better. I sincerely hope Target takes this feedback seriously and addresses the underlying issues with both employee behavior and management's response to customer concerns. read more

I want to give a shout out to all the employees here. Each time I've come here those working at this location have always been very kind and helpful. Especially during the holiday season this target gets really hectic, but the employees are always happy to help and from my experience, always very gracious. I must say it's not like this at every target in New York. So this continues to be my go-to Target in the city. read more

Nice, urban style design Target. There are escalators inside and everything is jam packed together making it easier to find exactly what you need quickly. I'm not used to running in and out of Target so quickly LOL . The prices are what you expect for NYC, not killer, but not dirt cheap like an NJ or PA Target either. It's good to find a happy medium. So far so good as the saying goes. this store just opened few weeks ago we definitely needed this in the neighboring to bring some brightness after the pandemic so many stores around closed. I know for sure at least people will have the excuse to come here often to do their shopping now. the space is decent it is not like other Target just keep that in mind when heading here is more compact is that make sense to you. I came here on a Thursday around noon. Love that there's a Target in the neighborhood! It's definitely a small space. A micro-Target if you will. I like that they have a produce section even though it's so small. I was trying to get some gluten-free flour or cake mix. They don't have either. I thought it was a little weird they didn't have any gluten-free baking mixes or flours. I was also looking for gluten-free Oreos, which they also didn't have. Anywho, they still have a lot of great stuff. Just double check online if they actually carry it in the store since it's so small. Besides food, there's also a lot of beauty products, some home/household products, a womenswear/menswear section, toys/games, baby products section. read more

Target needs to either stop putting essential items behind locks or put employees who speak enough English to know the names of the items that are locked up in the unlocking position. I spent 10 minutes trying to get someone to understand I needed meds and even when saying the name brand he didn't understand and tried grabbing the wrong items several times before walking away and leaving me to press the button until I showed him AGAIN where it was. Every time I come here to help out a friend shop it takes way longer than it should read more

Although this is a small target the things that they have to offer here really are useful. I appreciate that there's better security than other stores because if people continue cleaning out the shelves we are gonna end up with nothing nice uptown. We at least have this as an option so I hope it lasts longer than other businesses in this area. I wouldn't chance anything about this store except the fact that it's so small. It's about time and we can confirm the rumors were true. Of course I did not expect this location to be huge due to the Modells that use to be here wasn't all that big. But it's comfortable and has a little bit of everything. Now don't be fooled to think the shelves will be stocked up day in & day out, the pedestrians on 181st play no games! I went into this store because I needed a few personal hygiene items and left with nothing. This was my first time coming into this store and I'm probably never coming back. I understand loss prevention but everything about this store lacks customer service and promotes a judgemental climate. I've never been in a store with this many locked up cabinets and armed security personnel. As I was shopping me and another guy we're looking at the Mens underwear and turned to each other. He said only in NY where you have locked up underwear. I said to him if youre going to lock it up at least have a rep nearby. We both laughed and moved on from the aisle.It'ss ridiculous how insensitive this store is. The implicit negative message that this store sends to its customers is not reflective of this sprawling neighborhood. nice classic small little neighborhood target. sells anything and everything. the eggs, milk and juice are frequently cheaper here from what can tell. many of the alcohol cages are locked because people keep stealing. im afraid the neighborhood will ruin this little target due to constant theft. its completely rampant and so obvious. such a shame. read more

Usually a good place to go to for groceries, and this isn't that big of a deal. However, went to buy pillowcases and got charged higher than what was presented. Absolutely foul experience. My current bilateral ear infection that's resulted in hearing loss in both ears was more pleasant than any visit I've had to this target. In the most recent trips (I live in the neighborhood) here's some of the things I've experienced: - waiting over an hour (and being given various, completely inaccurate wait times) for a prescription at the pharmacy - egregious stalking from loss prevention - the entire store is in locked boxes??? employees are punching and kicking doors to keep them closed??? - increased NYPD presence despite the fact that literal floss is in a locked case Beverage sales are awesome though. read more

This target is great!!! All of the negative reviews I've read here are utterly ridiculous. The store just opened and they are figuring out exactly what people in the neighborhood are going to buy or not buy. One of the reasons the shelves may seem unstocked is that the store is busy! People are buying things. That's what happens!!! I think the store is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood and the veiled racism about the "lack of diversity" of the employees is unfounded. There's a massive labor and supply chain shortage in America right. I'm delighted that Target is providing jobs and that people are willing to work there. The fact that NYPD is there is great! I has nothing to with race. Come on! Go to the Duane Reade at Columbus Circle where all the rich people are. What will you see? A police officer. Why? Because people steal things. Been going to this Target since it opened. Happy to finally have one in the neighborhood that's closer than 225th. That said, the checkout has gotten worse since it opened. They really don't want to have to check people out and push hard on customers to use self-checkout. Not everyone can or wants to use self-checkout - they seem to be chronically understaffed. Also, totally agree with others comments about poorly stocked shelves. It can be really hit or miss. Size-wise it's incredibly small. People commenting this Target is "great" haven't been to other Target stores, it seems. It's so-so. read more

As a resident of the area in Manhattan, Washington heights I'd like to know why you're wasting our resources with NYPD working as security at the newly opened store 181st street. NYPD officers are not for guarding your store, they're paid 80K-120K per year & NYC already has an over-inflated Police budget, this budget cuts funding & services to more important issues in NYC, schools, transportation, healthcare. I find it disgusting that Target assumes people of this neighborhood should be policed while shopping at your Multi-billion dollar company (who pays low wages and exploits its workers) you hire your own private security. read more

The target in this neighborhood is small however it still has a great selection and the employees here are very polite. This is the best target in Manhattan for customer service as I've never had any issues in this store. The only thing I wish it had more of was space as it is quite small here and it would be great to have a larger store instead of the other stores on this block which honestly are not the greatest in quality. I hope this store gets the opportunity to expand as this neighborhood greatly needs a target with a wide selection! read more

Talk about a bad idea - Hey! Let's put a Target in a space smaller than most Duane Reade Drug Stores and then let's not keep it stocked! Plenty of employees floating around, most do nothing but chat with each other. Went in this past Sunday and turned the corner to find 2 employees chatting with the big cart used for stocking merchandise right in the middle of the aisle so no one could pass. I said, "Excuse me." and one of them said, "Oh, did you want to get through?" So many food items were not in stock. I walked in with a list of 10 things to pick up and walked out with none of them. And, I get that theft is an issue. I don't hate that everything is locked up, but most of the time no one shows up when you beep them. You have to go into other aisles and flag them down. And, it would be nice if they could put items on a shelf that fits them. The Quest crackers in the box are behind 2 plastic prongs. They shelf above sits right above the top of the box. There is no way to get them off the shelf without destroying the box. With ripped and destroyed boxes sitting on the shelf, I'm surprised no one realizes that. Bad Management in this store. Bad. Not even worth making the trip even though it's only a couple of blocks. read more

I normally don't leave reviews but this is not my 1st time at this target and let me tell you if you plan on making a return do not do it here as there is one line/register to do order pick up, return, exchanges and purchases. There needs to be a lot more DIVERSITY at this store. There also needs to be more managers that are able to assist customers instead of just one and a bunch of team members who are clearly just there for a paycheck. Washington Heights has a variety of people from all kinds of races and cultures. The sales associates should be a reflection of the entire neighborhood NOT just one culture. Many small businesses in the heights clearly pay favoritism towards their own and do not deliver the same level of customer service. Will gladly accept your money but will not respect you.
