I am SO not used to going to a department store in the middle of the city. I'm from the suburbs and I'm used to my Targets being as big as 10,000 city blocks. That said, this sweet little Target had everything I needed. Finding it, on the other hand, was not easy. When I say "not easy" to find, I'm telling you things that should have been where it seemed to make sense where not there. They were somewhere else. I walked around A LOT! I suppose it's tricky organizing so much merchandise in such a small space. I will say when we needed a shower mat to keep us from flipping over and busting our heads in the shower in our hotel, the shower mat was easy to find and it was delightfully inexpensive. BEST purchase the entire visit! That sounds super positive, but I can only give this Target three stars. I think that's fair. read more

DO NOT BUY GIFT CARDS AT THIS STORE. I bought to 2 Visa gift cards (at different times) at this location. Each time, I had trouble using the gift cards. THIS time, when I try to use it online, I get an error message saying the CVV is incorrect. They then send you to www.mybalancenow.com to report the problem. Each time I have gotten a message saying that there is trouble with the site and to try again later. There is also an 877 number to call.. which directs you back to the site. (the site also directs you to the number). You cannot return these cards once you purchase them.. so, it looks like I am out $50. read more

Target, is a store with quality, values, and a variety of items, products, that fit your need. I love just walking around and shopping in target. Good selection of everything one would need from food to clothes, at prices you can't beat. Clean and well maintained. Lines are not too long, and it is generally well managed, with people cleaning the carts and restocking everything quickly. Pretty cool. Parking is plentiful. Check out registers are available on both floors which is nice you don't have to trek back down if you don't need to. I think the only thing I can complain about is that the item I picked up wasn't matching the price that was listed on the shelf. No hassle at all for them to fix it but te sure to pay attention at checkout! Other than that, just as great as any other target. The employees are genuine and make me feel like they value me as a customer. Also, whenever I approach an employee about an item they are very helpful. They will check stock for the item or offer to get it in the back- even purple party streamers 15 minutes prior to closing on a Friday night. read more

Frozen items are allowed to thaw and then are simply REFROZEN causing them to be disgusting when cooked and consumed and allowing dangerous bacteria to grow on them. This Target location has had numerous of these items on their shelves that I've found to be discolored and soggy when opened and heated. Mediocre customer service and poor understanding of company policy. The store manager refused to accept a return from Target.com and told me I had to ship it back because it was from Target Plus. So much for an omni-channel experience. I showed the manager the Target website which states, in no uncertain terms, that ALL Target.com purchases (including those from Target Plus) can be returned in stores. This store still refused to process the return. The store manager was adamant that the Target website was wrong. Once home, I called Target's customer service line and they confirmed that all purchases from Target.com can be returned in stores and that the store manager had incorrectly denied my return. Thankfully the customer service agent was reasonable and didn't require me to ship back the item to get a refund (especially since I had already tried to give the item back to Target and they had inexplicably refused to accept it). The customer service agent was concerned to hear that the Belmont location had not accepted my return and actually did a formal write-up. read more

Usually I go to the wilson yard target, which has always been a great store. Every one or two years I buy a package of bic lighters there without any problems. This time I had to go to the belmont station store and could not buy the lighters without an id. I'm in my mid 50's and the clerk still would not sell them to me. So I spent the $8 someplace else. If the laws have changed, I'm sure I still would not have had a problem at wilson yard, but belmont station doesn't seem to use common sense. read more

This location regularly allows non-service animals into the store, despite policies against it. The employees posted at the front door should be trained on what questions to ask to distinguish service animals from pets. I like dogs, but I don't want to deal with jumpy dogs and inattentive owners while buying my groceries. read more

This Target has a self checkout aisle which is great. If you bring your own bag you get $0.05 off which is nice. The Target is small but it's good for basic necessities. They even have some clothing here as well. They also have a food aisle too. I bought Pop Tarts, whoo. I don't live near this Target but if I did, I would frequent it a lot! read more

Came in for three specific items that I know Target carries, well at least most of them. I know this is a stripped down store, but really 0/3? When I finally did find someone on the floor to ask, they seemed indifferent, and said we should have that. However, had no interest in helping me find the items, or point me in the right direction. Lucky for me, the footprint of the place is small and after a few minutes looking around I just left. I went to my regular south loop Target later that night and got everything I needed. I'm in this area every so often, just as most of us we pass various Target's and retail in our travels. This is my favorite Target in the area. It has plenty of stock compared to other ones nearby. The best part for my is he large underground parking garage that is free and I don't need to worry about rain or snow. Make sure you have the target cartwheel app to get even more discounts. I went in there to buy some razors and they had them priced incorrectly. Someone in their department stocked them wrong or placed them in the wrong side .... They need to hire people that actually know how to stock and put stuff in the right place so people like me don't get upset when you go and pay and it's not the price you saw in the aisle where the razors are located... I went to the soft opening - many a week ago I was surprised at how small the Target was. Since the building was huge I thought it was going to be a giant Target (not realizing the upper levels did not = Target). Now that lots of time has passed I don't mind the smallness. I now consider it a convenient stop right after work/getting off the train if I don't want to walk farther to one of the grocery stores. It's good for that. It's also good if your HDMI cord broke or you're in need of some random common electronic... or maybe some Drain-O... this Target is down the street. New Target that just opened in Lakeview. It's quite small but it is a bit bigger than the one in Lincoln Park, IMO. Its big enough to get the job done but the selections are definitely limited. It's conveniently right near the L line so a nice location to stop and do errands on your commute. Staff are nice and helpful! read more

Never mind it's a City Target with a small footprint and thus the selection is understandably limited. Unbelievable. Customer Services is absolutely disastrous. There is only self service cash and if u buy alcohol it needs to be approved by a shop assistant in person by looking on ur passport which is fine. I am from Germany and we have an ID which is governmentally totally the same like a passport. I was there the day before yesterday and bought a bottle of wine and I showed my ID (Personalausweis) and everything was dine. The girl was nice and friendly. Tonight I've been there again, had several things to buy, and again a bottle of white wine. The guy who was heading to us when the cash was ringing for a shop assistant for approval seemed totally on edge - due ti what? I don't know, maybe because it was half past nine and he thought by hisself OMG again assholes who r bothering me in doing more important things than approving their alcohol. I showed him my officially from the German government issued ID and he told me in an arrogant tone no IDs from foreign countries. If u r not from the US u have to show ur passport. WTF?? This is a totally inappropriate, mean and btw racist behavior. And even when I talked (nice and friendly) to him explaining I had been there the day before yesterday and my ID was accepted and even the hint that i am 41 and don't look definitely not like unter 21 (btw thank u fir this compliment) helped to change his decision, and he went even more arrogant. For sure, I haven't bought anything there. Anyways the good thing is there are soooo many other shops like TARGET around the corner I just bought all my things and my wine in another shop. It's a city target, so I'm surprised to see so many critical reviews. You've gotta expect that based on their size and location they're going to have a limited selection, and not carry all your favorite Target staples. Now saying that, this location does seem to be consistently out of a majority thing I know it carries, but everytime I come, never have. Maybe because it's high trafficked, but when it comes to cosmetics and shower necessities, shelves area always empty. Something as simple as hand soap, never in stock. And their prices do seem to be slightly higher than the larger locations. Convenience tax perhaps? Regardless, I still find myself here due to its proximity to my house and I can quickly pop in and see if they have what I need. The staff have always been nice and helpful too. Since I seem to never remember where anything is located, they're always there to help direct me in the right direction. They've got a killer wine selection, and the grocery section always seems to be stocked. Overall, it's not the worst target in the world, and they can only do so much with their space. I'll continue to come here, but as a warning to those expecting a regular target, this is your note of caution. read more

This target is abysmal. If you're looking for something, chances are they don't have it. Today I was looking for apple cider and they had none, either in a bottle or powdered. No apple juice either. It isn't a matter of them being sold out - they simply don't stock anything in this store because it is a "small neighborhood target". I have never left this location with every item on my shopping list. If you do manage to find what you're looking for, it will be at least $3 or $4 more expensive than other Target stores or even Target.com and you will have to price match everything. It has been like this since it opened 3 or 4 years ago. This is the only grocery store within a 15/20 minute walk from this area, so you'd think they would at least try to accommodate such a populous neighborhood a little better. read more

That said, it usually has almost everything I need (I feel like it's always one item short) and the checkout is almost exclusively self-checkout, which I think is great. This Target is in a great location. Right on a super busy intersection by the Belmont red line stop and by a bunch on bus stops as well. I was super excited to see it open and finally got to go and check it out. Considering it's a city Target and the location I wasn't surprised to see that it's TINY inside. They have a little bit of everything but if you're looking for the classic extensive Target collection then this is NOT the Target for you. Their food area is pretty large (and the majority of the space) which is nice so you can get a little grocery shopping done. I would definitely come here for a quick Target run but not a full shopping trip. It has more of a convenience store feel than a full on supermarket/Target. read more
