One place that will always dominate any neighborhood besides that other depressing behemoth store is Target. A huge sprawling parking lot with enough space under one roof to get in a mile of walking, if one were so compelled. This brings me to Target in Charlotte. First, I despise getting in and out of this store as the way the entrance and exit is set up stinks, then you have to drive on University Blvd which, depending on the day, is a nightmare. That said, it is located in a safe part of town however please note this isn't a Super Target so not much in the way of food and an overwhelming selection of items. The employees don't walk around much but they're nice. My final opening point is extremely subjective, but I hate drab interior much like their big blue rival. As for food, the selection is extremely limited. Barely half an isle for fresh produce, select meats and a few other options. As for refrigerated items again, the selection is limited with a few items available as needed. Finally, the dry, snack and non-perishable items selection is much better but still not what you'll find at a larger store. I find I only shop here for food only when absolutely necessary. As for the kids' section, they're limited in toys as I tried to purchase some items for my kids but they only have the absolute most popular items. So, if you want that GI Joe action figure, you won't find it here, or at least anything new. As for electronics, they have most of the newest gaming consoles, games and controllers however 4k media is gone, but that's a standard among all stores now as physical media continues to be replaced by inferior forms of content like streaming. Most items like pet food and accessories are in abundance, hardware and housing goods have most of what someone needs and the kitchen section has a lot of average equipment to great stuff depending on what you need. For example, the knife selection is horrible but mixers are just as good as anywhere else. I do all of my vitamin and specialty medicine (not prescription) from Target as it's the cheapest. Clothing is always a challenge as I don't think they have enough employees to restock items so many times there will be clothes on the ground or in wrong areas. The jewelry case is sad as are most of there kitchen accessories section. But again, I have to remind myself this isn't a Super Target however coming in is a commitment. Overall, Target is exactly what you expect anywhere and that's by design. The only real differences are subtle things that regionally might sell better at one place then another state won't offer a product as it won't make sense. Think of a heavy winter coat for sale in Texas - it isn't needed. Finally, the store is clean and let's face it, you should know the prices and if they're competitive. Other than those items, it's Target you know what you want. read more

The absolute worse target in the history of all targets. They will pick beat up, previously opened, dirty looking spoiled food without a second thought to provide you during the drive up order. A jar of jalapenos that I returned so fast that I didn't take a picture for my own phone. They'll have prices marked on the shelf but not in the system. Today I actually shopped in-store trying to give another shot and manage a return just for the monthly deal not to work. We read the games and conditions. This cashier has to be from the Midwest based on how she talks + behaves but I could be wrong (which isn't the bad part. It just made me reminisce like I know this personality. Behavior. Mood) anywhoo she called over someone and he read the same coupon terms and conditions from my phone. But things down and reappeared with the in-store scanner to say clearance is exempt. Ok cool but it's not on the coupon showing in the wallet. Worse yet, I had to reset my password because shopping in-store always results in such because they push hard to have you redeem your circle money and gift cards. Ewww, child just stay away. Let the college kids and SE Asians have it. I say SE ASIANS be sure they appear to be heavy in the area with adjacent stores, returns and patronizing hard with kids running amuck without any supervision or correction. Good thing today: they had enough lines open. Crap BS today: the trail mix rang up more than what's posted on the shelf. If miss Minnesota hadn't been motor mouthing I would have caught it but alas I'll get it resolved tomorrow when there's less rain. Y'all, I left the Midwest and keep finding it. Hilarious. She is a hoot even with all the frustrations. At least the customer service girls know what to do and don't get all overwhelmed. Complete store in disarray. 1 star only because I cannot leave a review otherwise. This is by far the WORST Target I've ever been in. And the fact that I lived in Fayetteville, NC and would rate that store much higher, pretty much says all that needs to be said. IYKYK. Tried for more than 10 minutes to get assistance in electronics, all while watching the store get robbed numerous times by 3 kids. The only people that paid any customer any mind were the AT&T resale associates that don't work for Target. I was told by one of the two that they had tried to help customers out numerous times and no one would ever come. The store looked as though it was the aftermath of Black Friday. Empty shelves everywhere. The place was just filthy and just no assistance to be found. I won't return to this place and I suggest others to find another Target to give your business to as well! read more

My favorite location to shop. Consistency is key. Every time I've shopped here I've had a very pleasant cashier and never have an issue finding an associate on the floor when I need help. Even when the store is busy around the holidays, the customer serve no receive is always there!! I've driven out of my way before to come to this location! From the managers down to the young man retrieving the carts, there's no shortage of smiles (well before the mask mandate lol) and always willing to help! read more

Convenient for the college kids I'm sure and it has all the essentials. This store has been here since the beginning of time, and while the remodel a few years ago has done wonders for the inside, it still has it's limitations. First things first, the place used to be a tossup on how neat and tidy the shelves were. It seems like lately the Target team is consistently keeping everything looking top notch, but I remember going here in the past and it always looking like the apocalypse was coming. Good on them for making strides in that regard. The grocery side of the store has your basic needs but it may not have as much variety as you would find in a "Super" target like in Concord or Northlake. The last remodel expanded the produce and they added a small selection of (prepackaged) meats. The dry/canned goods have a decent selection, with the frozen/dairy being ok as well, it's just the produce and meat that is lacking considerably when compared to other grocery stores in the area. Finally, my biggest pet peeve here is getting out of the shopping center. The entrance closest to the Target itself you can turn right in no problem. Trying to get back out is the issue: You can only turn right and forcing your onto E W.T. Harris instead of Hwy 49 where most people want to go. Several times I've got behind someone who doesn't understand where they're going and attempt to back up only to find that they can't because me and three others are already behind him/her... Take it for what it is. If you need a couple of pantry basics and know how to navigate the exit, this place is a nice stop. If you're cooking a gourmet three course dinner, the Harris Teeter next door might be a better option. read more

I love how this location has a wide variety of hair products for natural hair. Typically, there's a very small section of only 3 or 4 product lines, but this location has one side of an entire aisle AND side aisle options. I appreciate how the products are organized by type as well because choosing which natural hair product can me cumbersome. With the late hours that Target is open, this is a good option for us Natural Girls when we run out of a product at the last minute & the local beauty supply store is closed. Plus, Target has sales on these products often, whereas places like Walmart and the local beauty supply stores do not. read more

I didn't catch the person's name that was working customer service on 7/13/21 around 7:27 PM ET, but she was phenomenal! The person in front of me was basically giving her a hard time about not being able to find colorful underwear. Apparently he had a pack of grey and black underwear and someone on the floor couldn't find the colorful kind for him. The lady at customer service tried to come up with options for him like visiting another Target, but he was adamant to get the colorful kind from this specific Target because he prefers this location (his words). At one point I said out loud that one of the locations that she mentioned is actually closer to where he lives. He didn't here me apparently as my mask muffled my words. Long story short, someone else on the floor was able to find the colorful pack, brought them to him, they weren't colorful enough for him, and so he wound up walking out with the pair he came to customer service. The lady at customer service handled this in a very professional manner and in my opinion deserves a raise and/or promotion. I had to have been there for 15-20 minutes throughout this entire thing. At one point I thought there was a hidden camera and that John Quiñones was going to pop out. The store overall has a nice vibe to it as I visit it from time to time and never had an issue. This experience that I witnessed at customer service alone doesn't have me second guessing my decision to return and shop there. read more

there's so much potential at this target but do not go if there are truly items you need...bc they won't have em... take the extra 10-15 minutes to go to the one in Concord or Northlake. this one is straight booty. my online orders are never complete, the bathrooms are always dirty and they have the exclusives just super trash tees and very bland plus size clothing. Anyone who knows me knows that I love Target. There. I said it. I love Target. I go about 2-3 times per week, depending on my wants and needs. And I especially like to go on Tuesdays when new CDs and DVDs come out because they're usually on sale their first week. I visit the University Target most often mainly because of its convenience, not because it's my favorite Target at which to shop. This particular Target has yet to figure out that by putting the sale price on the new CDs and DVDs might actually get them to sell. I usually only know they're on sale because (1) most newly released CDs and DVDs are on sale their first week and (2) they have price scanners throughout the store that are much more reliable than the employees who should be pricing these bad boys to sell. It also disappoints me that if the newly released CD isn't by a rapper, it doesn't make the "new" rack. It gets displaced to some other miscellaneous rack where nobody can find it. Not much marketing savvy going on here. Like I said, I love Target and frequent this one often, but it's mainly because of its convenience to my workplace. Otherwise, they have all the other departments that you would expect for Target - mens and women's and kids clothing, shoes, housewares, home electrics, automotive, pharmacy, cosmetics and personal care. There's a Wal-Mart not far away, but I needed something that surprisingly Wally World didn't have. I also think that the quality of the clothing is a bit better here at Target though it is a bit more expensive too. Oh, and what's the deal with the shopping carts? What is the sorcery that Target has to make all four wheels on their trolleys actually work? How come Wal-Mart can't figure that out? read more

As an avid target shopper, I consider myself a self-proclaimed expert on all things Target. This particular Target is not that great. It's more of a 'run in and grab the basics' kind of Target. The departments feel like they're not fully fleshed out and missing the full stock of things. During the day, the staff is hard to find on the floor for some reason except for when its near closing time. Also, there are never enough cashiers for check out, so pack your patience. read more

This target sucks, it's right near a university and needs to be twice as big. Anytime I ever order drive up orders they are always cancelled and they never have what I order. If I do get to pick up an order, I have to wait 20-30 minutes for someone to come out. This is ridiculous and needs better management and 60 more workers. Anytime I go inside they have one lane open for checkout and the rest is self checkout. Someone needs to manage this better and get more staff. read more

Unfortunately this is the closest target to me and therefore the most convenient. However, on several occasions I have done order pickup just to get home and not have multiple items from my order (none that were cancelled). There is also clearly no rhyme or reason in how they bring out the orders. I pull up and the next 4 or 5 cars that pull up get their orders before me. Very frustrating. I've also called the store several times when they've forgotten items and not been able to get ahold of anyone to just make sure my stuff is there for me to come back and get. If you can avoid this store for order pickup, I would. read more

Good morning, Customer service It is very important and this target is definitely missing the mark! I have sat back and noticed that security will watch and follow individuals to the point of feeling uncomfortable with shopping. I had a very simple return to do to this location. ($14) Apparently Ms. Latoya in guest services was not in a good mood to be at work. I approached the counter Ms. Latoya looked at me then continue to fold items that were kind of all over the place in customer service. I understand but no one wants to come to work to fold clothes that appears to be all in MESS. Sometimes it's not what you say is how you say it in her attitude was absolutely horrible! I requested the manager on duty Ms. Brandy as always was very helpful and very friendly. Mrs. Heather as store manager I would advise you to spend less money on loss prevention and more money and customer service training for your staff! read more

Christmas decor shopping! This is not a super target but I found some really cute ornaments.

My cashier was amazing. If I can find my receipt - I'll come back and add her. The store is neat, however if they have the signs above the aisles instead of as you walk onto the aisle it would be helpful. I had a 20% off coupon which I received on my last visit and clearly stated what was not included for the coupon. Everything going up correctly and my cashier thoroughly explain the target circle app to me and how I can use it on this visit and follow up visits. This is an extremely busy area especially now (holiday season). Parking is plentiful however. read more

Pretty much your basic Target here located conveniently near UNCC campus. Don't really know if their business has been affected by the new Wal-mart just down the road near IKEA, but people will shop where they would like to shop. I don't appreciate the parking lot entrance here since it is located in the middle of an exit to WT Harris and Univ City Blvd... makes for an awkward, "where the (insert expletive here) do I go to get to this Target. Once you get in the building, you are safe... until it's time to leave again - then your chances of surviving the parking lot alive plummet to a low probability. It could be the combination of parents shopping with their college son or daughters or the actual college son or daughters that make the traffic around the parking lot so awkward, but I try to get in and out quickly. Other than the parking... this location has a little snack shop (can't remember if there is a Starbucks) and is kept relatively clean. read more

I was at this target today on March 5th, I was checking the trading card section and as I was leaving I was harassed by the security (black man w/ braids) telling me I can't be around the area. I asked him why because I have never had security tell me that and he asks me if I'm there for the cards and I said yes but told him I wasn't hanging around I was leaving. So just to let you be aware now everyone is getting crazy over these things some people genuinely just want to collect. I felt very unwelcome and seeing as I'm a paying customer should probably be treated a little better. Really disappointed. I had my wallet stolen nearby and the people that stole it went straight to this store and made 11 attempts in a very short time frame to run multiple credit cards. Where was security? You don't stand at one self-check counter for several minutes and continue to swipe cards over and over without it raising some concerns. I have been told that Target's policy is that even if employees suspect something they can't do anything about it (only the trained security personnel on site). Maybe that is why thieves go here and the fact that it is a ghost town as I saw mentioned on several other reviews. Police stated that it was a hot spot for theft. DON'T go here. When I called to notify them of the situation (as I had to for theft protection on my credit cards), they were not very sympathetic at all. I was told that over the holidays, they had to hire outside security because the place is so bad for crimes. read more

As far as Targets go, this is a decent one. It's a bit smaller than others especially the super ones. I've always found staff to be helpful and the store was clean. The prices are usually a little higher than other big box stores in the area, but you won't have to deal with the same characters. All in all, it's a good store and easy to navigate. The only reason i don't give it a 5 is because they have a limited selection on certain items. read more

This is smaller Target with basic necessities. The grocery section doesn't have a full range of produce, not that I'd recommend getting produce from a big box store anyway. The store is clean. Half of the self checkout kiosk are usually out of order. It's never too busy here, so don't worry about long lines. I recommend they do some cultural sensitivity training, as one cashier who was white and young saw my Starbucks cup and opened her mouth with "Girlfraaaand, you aint bring me no coffee this mo'ning? .........That's jacked up." *Breaks 4th wall and ask audience What. The. Hell.?????* It was early, so I replied with a dry "No. -_-" and that was that. Again, Target might want to look into some cultural training. read more

This store is never stocked up, a lot of shelves are left empty majority of the time. The staff aren't very helpful, they tell you "I'm not sure" or "that's not my department" instead of making an effort to help a customer. This is the Target you go to if you have no other choice. read more

Target Party :) Like Suzanne S. I too love Target. The Target located on University City Blvd. is about a mile from UNC Charlotte and about 5 miles from the Concord Mills area. As you can see, it is very close to the majority of suburbia in the university area. Unlike the other chain super markets in the area this Target isn't crawling with customers all hours of the day and night. There's a comfortable amount of business and staff to meet the needs of customers. The store itself is always very clean, organized and has a wide selection of retail items. I definitely appreciate the fact that Target has recently decided to organize the sales racks by size and discount rate. This new detail is oh-so helpful when I'm shopping on a budget. This Target location specifically has an exceptional pharmacy team. I have recently had to transfer my allergy medications; and every time I go to pick up my refills I am always treated with superior customer service by the pharmacy technician and pharmacists. During my check out experience in the pharmacy I am always asked if I have any questions for the pharmacists. This simple question is both thoughtful and serves a great service to inquisitive customers. This location also offers fresh produce, electronics, jewelry, cosmetics, and home & gardens sections. Needless to say, I have spent many a Saturday meandering the isles wonderfulness at Target. With that in mind, it is safe to say I can't wait until my next Target trip. read more

I have never been a black friday shopper. In fact, I'm one of those people who laughs at the black friday shoppers. But while visiting my mom and she says she wants to go to Target on Black Friday, I can't really say no to her, can I? Thankfully, it was a bit later in the morning, at around 8:30, so when we went it was normal Target crowds instead of the mob black friday shoppers I was expecting. They still had a ton of great deals going on, including a free $10 Target gift card for spending $50 in home stuff (which we easily did). The store had plenty of staff on hand in case the store got crazy busy, but thankfully it wasn't needed so those staff members were busying straightening the store and assisting customers throughout. Their receipt messed up the barcode when it was printed and she had to go look it up in the back. She said it will take a really long time, several times. I said ok, I'll wait. This Target is showing its age. The buildings and its fittings are still in good shape, but the style is increasingly dated. The newer one in the Metropolitan complex doesn't have this problem. That said, the products are exactly the same, as are there prices. I would even go so far as to say that the parking situation here is more convenient, although it is uncovered and Charlotte's summers can turn your car into an oven while you shop. read more

First, I love Target. It's actually difficult for me to give an A-OK rating. However, I give this location 3 stars because it has all the staples (i.e. pharmacy, concession area, clothing, electronics, etc.). However, what pulls most Target's apart is the customer service, and the diversity of options in their sections (i.e. (again) housewares, food, etc.). This Target fulfills my basic needs but it doesn't go above my expectations. What I do appreciate about this store is the location. It is super close to UNC Charlotte and there is ample parking! No reason not to visit here but also no reason to drive out of your way to get here. read more

Target stores in general get two thumbs up from me. Comparing them to WalMart is tedious but must be done because we know they are direct competitors. Initially I was a die-hard WalMart fan but I've turned a corner. I like Target's community initiatives and I've never heard their employees complain about working conditions. Specifically, this location has improved with the addition of a more fleshed out grocery area and although I don't use it fully, I'm glad it's there. I wish they would offer more ORGANIC produce. That would get them more of my $$$. Employees at this location have always been on par with employees at every Target store I've ever visited: polite, helpful, knowledgeable. They are well-trained. There have only been a few times where I've left the store disappointed by not being able to find something I was looking for. Overall, I think it's worth spending a few extra dollars for a better shopping experience and the knowledge that my money is going towards helping those in need. read more

Although this is not a Super Target (and I really prefer Super in front of my Target) this one is fine. You can find everything here that you can find in Walmart (at decent prices) without all the lines b/c they only have one or two lanes open, the usual crowd that comes with Walmart making it hard to navigate from point A to B. Target now carries an extensive selection of Kitchenaide appliances (that I'm a fan of) and Chaplain cooking ware. The accessories can be quite addictive. They carry a unique selection in every color but too me, the price for fashion accessories can be a little on the high side. Some of their necklaces are over $20.00...this is when I put it back and go to Forever 21. I rarely pay attention to their weekly sale circuit b/c to me the price that they're saying is a sale is a normal price to me. Hey...if something is $3.99 and you're making it $3.49 that's nothing to waste gas on. Make it $2.50 and then I might just ride :) read more
