ZERO STARS. SAVE YOUR MONEY, SAVE YOUR GAS, AND DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AT THIS TARGET.
I genuinely don't know who the hell is running this store, and apparently neither do the employees.
What started as a SIMPLE phone call asking whether a product was available turned into one of the most pathetic displays of customer service I've ever experienced.
My husband called and spoke to an employee who didn't even sound sure about the answer she gave him. He called back through another department hoping to get someone who actually knew what they were talking about. Unfortunately, he got the same employee, who decided to answer with "You just called and I told you no."
Excuse me?
When he questioned the unnecessary attitude, she hung up on him. TWICE.
So I called.
I specifically asked for a supervisor. Suddenly this employee claimed SHE was the supervisor and gave me the name "Vanessa."
Okay, Vanessa.
I called another department trying to reach actual leadership and was told the managers were "in a meeting." Apparently this meeting has the runtime of Titanic, because every time somebody asks for management at this place, they're conveniently unavailable.
At that point I was DONE with the telephone circus, so I drove approximately TWO HOURS TO BROOKLYN to address the situation in person.
And somehow the circus got WORSE.
I get there asking for management and suddenly finding somebody who actually runs this store is apparently an impossible fucking side quest.
Where is the Store Director?
Meeting.
Manager?
Unavailable.
Supervisor?
Apparently everybody and nobody is one simultaneously.
"Vanessa," the supposed supervisor I spoke with?
Nobody seems to know who the hell I'm talking about.
Then the blond-haired male employee I dealt with ALSO represented himself as a supervisor while displaying the same dismissive, obnoxious attitude.
HOW MANY IMAGINARY SUPERVISORS DOES ONE TARGET NEED BEFORE AN ACTUAL MANAGER APPEARS?
You have employees behaving like hanging up on customers, giving people the runaround, throwing around management titles and treating customers like they're an inconvenience is cute.
It's not cute. It's embarrassing.
And if employees are this comfortable behaving this way in a massive corporation, apparently somebody has taught them that there are absolutely no consequences for treating customers like garbage.
Maybe that's why nobody could produce a manager. You'd have to actually have visible leadership before anybody could be held accountable.
And before Target responds with some canned "We're sorry your experience didn't meet expectations" bullshit--save it.
I CALLED.
Couldn't get management.
I CALLED OTHER DEPARTMENTS.
Couldn't get management.
I DROVE TWO HOURS AND PHYSICALLY WALKED INTO THE STORE.
STILL COULDN'T GET MANAGEMENT.
At that point, what exactly is a customer supposed to do? Send up the fucking Bat-Signal?
The original product isn't even the issue anymore. I couldn't care less about it. The issue is an astonishing lack of professionalism, basic manners, accountability, and apparently accessible leadership.
Customers aren't interruptions to your jobs. CUSTOMERS ARE THE REASON THOSE JOBS EXIST.
If you're looking for employees who treat customers with basic respect and management that actually appears when there's a problem, keep driving.
But if you'd like to waste your time, waste your gas, get hung up on, play Guess Who's Actually a Supervisor, and embark on a scavenger hunt for a manager who apparently exists only in Target folklore, then congratulations:
Target Gateway Store #1401 is your fucking destination.
Corporate needs to investigate this store from the top down, because whatever the hell they're doing over there isn't management.
This place needs to be shut down and cleaned out from the top down. Corporate needs to investigate the GM, managers, supervisors and Customer Service because clearly nobody is being held accountable. If employees can hang up on customers, play pretend-supervisor and treat people however they want while management is permanently "in a meeting," then the leadership has failed. Fire the people responsible, retrain the rest and put competent adults in charge. Store #1401 is an embarrassment
