My beloved Yorkie, Munchkin, crossed the Rainbow Bridge last Wednesday. I was directed to Dr…read more Tarasoff and her staff by Munchkin's prior mom. Due to her illness, she couldn't keep him. From the very beginning, about five years ago, I was impressed by the caring, loving way that my boy and I were treated. No matter how many times I brought him there, everything was explained gently and thoroughly. Munchkin was 16 years old. I could see severe changes in him. He lost interest in walking the neighborhood, he lost weight, stopped eating and drinking. I knew that his time had come. The procedure was humane and compassionate and although my heart was shattered, I knew that I was doing what was best for my boy. Dr. Tarasoff was wonderful. She said all the right things and made it as easy as possible for me. Yesterday, I received a handwritten card from Dr. Tarasoff and her staff. Enclosed was a clipping of Munchkin's hair and a paw print. It was so kind and thoughtful and I will treasure it always. I highly recommend the Animal Hospital of White Plains. I have never experienced such compassion. Thank you, Dr. Tarasoff and all of your associates.

Dr Barotz is a real find. She is the best of both worlds; a Cornell Vet school graduate and…read moreextremely knowledgeable in a Chinese medicine approach. She believes in both, each complimenting and supporting the other. That's what I wanted and need for my best friend and little boy, Trooper. On top of that, she is happy to work with a patients' regular Vet and studies their medical records thoroughly. She has a gentle, caring manner and spends the time to fully explain her analysis, opinions and reasons for her recommendations. Dr Barotz has a 360 degree approach and the education, knowledge and experience to carry it out. I am so very happy to have her at our side through what is a very tough time. My Trooper has liver cancer. Thanks to her, I have a much better understanding of how I can give Trooper's body more support and comfort, as well as other options I might have for his care. I wish I had known her when I first adopted Trooper 11 years ago, through sickness AND health. I think we can take better care of our little friends with her full approach.

We researched and found Lap of Love, and we are so grateful. We called and spoke to Kayla Johnson, veterinary care coordinator. She was so empathetic, kind, and caring. She answered all of our questions and went above and beyond. She coordinated for Dr. Connie to visit our come to help our sweet Lyla girl "cross the rainbow bridge." It was one of the worst days of my life and some of the worst grief I've ever experienced. Dr. Connie was so thoughtful, empathetic, sweet, and caring. She shaved a small piece of fur for us (which I requested), and was so thoughtful in getting a spot with all of our girl's colors while also being respectful to Lyla. She took the most beautiful paw print in clay that we will cherish forever. We chose to have a private cremation for Lyla and we picked up the ashes from our vet in a beautiful engraved wooden box. From the first phone call we made to lap of love, to the very end of recieving the ashes, the communication has been very thorough, empathetic, helpful, and warm. Thank you Lap of Love. Thank you Kayla. Thank you so much Dr Connie, we will never forget your kindness and care.

My only regret was not finding them sooner. Terri had developed a hacking cough that I thought was just something caught in his throat. On March 21st, he fell down the steps and tried to go here but they were booked so after taking him to the ER I decided to book a follow up appointment here instead of with his old vet. I've been wanting to move vets after numerous incidents. We went in for our first visit with Dr. Cassidy. Melissa at the front desk greeted us. The place is immaculate & bright - so nice & inviting. They have different rooms for everyone. Met Dr. Cassidy who was like a ray of sunshine. She examined Terri throughly & explained everything to us step by step. The hacking cough was a tracheal collapse which is common in Yorkies. She gave us medication. Unfortunately old age and this condition begun to worsen. We had to lay him to rest 2 weeks later. He wasn't eating & stop taking the medication which made it hard for him to sleep. Dr. Cassidy gave us additional options but we could tell he was ready to go. The care the staff showed us was exceptional! Thank you so much, Dr. Cassidy, Melissa & staff.

Dakota Veterinary Center's Instagram bio states they are "treating pets the way we would like to be…read moretreated," but my experience was the opposite. I brought my healthy six-month-old kitten here for a routine visit after being encouraged by a personal friend of mine who was the clinic manager at the time. During the visit, a cystocentesis was performed by this manager, who is not a licensed veterinarian or veterinary technician, under the supervision of licensed staff. Immediately afterward, my kitten's condition changed--vomiting, lethargy, loss of appetite, and visible distress. Over the following days, I repeatedly expressed concern and was reassured that this was "normal" and blamed on a recent food change, with no urgency or recommendation to bring him back for evaluation. Four days later, I rushed him to an emergency hospital, where he was diagnosed with uroabdomen and suspected bladder rupture and ultimately euthanized due to organ failure. Veterinary science recognizes bladder rupture as a known, life-threatening risk of improperly performed cystocentesis, and this rapid decline does not align with a simple dietary issue. After his death, I contacted the practice multiple times seeking accountability, resolution, and reimbursement, and was ignored. I am sharing this to warn other pet owners that Dakota Veterinary Center's lack of urgency, accountability, and follow-up after an invasive procedure was irresponsible and unethical, and no animal deserves to be treated this way. Their actions raise serious concerns about patient safety and professional standards; I doubt any of their staff would like to be treated the way they treated my late kitten. I've attached Before/After photos of his health and demeanor before and after the procedure at Dakota Veterinary Center. These pictures document the rapid deterioration of his health, with dates and times included.
