Dr. Jiao is a money hungry lying rat. My parents over fed my little Pomeranian until he couldn't move. He was almost 10 lbs and should be 5lbs max. 5lb over for him is like 500lbs for us. They sent him to Dr. Jiao and he told my parents that the dog is not overweight but has bad joints and arthritis and will never walk again, and he put my poor dog on medication for the rest of his life. After hearing this from my parents and arguing with them to try and convince them that Dr Jiao is a typical money hungry lying sneaky pig who knows more than well my dog is overweight, I put my foot down and began to feed the dog myself. I put him on a strict lean meat diet one meal a day and cut all the medication and within 3 weeks my dog is running around full of life happy as can be. Dr. Jiao was very compassionate, when we brought our 12 year old dog Lucky to him on an emergency visit. Dr. Jiao made sure Lucky was comfortable on the last night of his life, and his vet techs looked after Lucky all night, until we got to see him the next morning. Lucky had been sick for a while, but our last vet was unable to diagnose Lucky's illness, which we found out from Dr. Jiao was likely cancer. Dr. Jiao went into detail on how/why Lucky's last vet may have missed the cancer, even though it was obvious that he was suffering from something, and Dr. Jiao let us know that there wasn't much we could've done to prevent this. I took my dog there after she was attacked by another larger dog. She was quite traumatized after the experience. Dr Jiao saw her for less than 2-3 mins. Barely examined her, rushed through her examination, injected her with pain med in a very rushed and prescribed several meds. Had no real time to explain what was going on or how to care for her. He took less than 2-3 mins. Then he was done. I received 3 meds and given bill for $430.00. No further explanations. I doubt I would take her back. It was pricey but most vets are. But I at least expect vet to properly examine and explain manner of care. The examination room was not clean, dr Jiao did not wash his hands and had no time to properly explain course if treatment. The Vet suggested I return the following week for follow up care. No thanks - the cost of returning would probably be $200 for a 1 minute visit. read more

He was compassionate ; until he wasn't. Jumping to conclusions, forgetting which dog he was examining. Botched surgery that nearly caused our dog to lose her leg. Slapping a diagnosis that bight be common for the breed etc. finding others with the same issues cropping up. I write this review for one reason, to share my experience in case anyone else finds themselves in a similar situation. I was an advocate of Dr. Jiao's for such a long time.Then, something changed. We usually took our baby to Dr. Jiao for annual check-ups and boarding. I did feel the last few times we went to Dr. Jiao that he seemed different, tired, stressed out and just not the same as he used to be.Last year our dog started to lose hair and Jiao put her on thyroid medication.She did not seem to be getting any better and when we complained to him,he told us that since she was older, more stuff was going to happen to her and to just expect it. At the beginning of this year, her paw started bleeding from an odd looking lump on one of her toes.Dr. Jiao examined her and told us that he would take x-rays and blood work. He told us that our dog had a cancerous tumor and would not recommend operating on her because she would not make it through the surgery due to her heavy breathing , her lungs couldn t take it.He looked me right in the eye and said to put her down since she was old anyway. I could not believe these words were coming from him.He seemed frustrated that we didn t want to put her down.This was not the Dr. Jiao I had always known and respected. We decided the best thing to do for her and to give ourselves some peace of mind was to get a second opinion.We just could not live with ourselves if we could give her a chance and didn t try.We wound up going to another vet where as soon as they saw her, they said there was no reason to put such an otherwise healthy animal down!They conducted their own tests but asked that we get the records from Dr. Jiao.I was grilled as to why we wanted the records and finally when I spoke with Dr. Jiao, he seemed nervous and rushed me off the phone but promised to send the records. I was extremely shocked and disappointed when he faxed us exactly 4 sheets of paper with notes scribbled all over that made no sense for the treatment of our dog over the last two years.We were so embarrassed to send them to the new vet and I guess really should have been more on top of Dr. Jiao all along and not just accept the bill with the scribbled notes he gives you when it comes time to pay.The new animal hospital was shocked at his poor record keeping and did not understand why Dr. Jiao had her on all of these medications that according to them were making her more sick and not helping. They said the heavy breathing was just nerves and told us that the thyroid medicine he had her on was way too strong of a dose and was making everything worse.They immediately changed her medication and told us that they could easily remove the tumor and they assured us that she was healthy enough to be operated on.I am so happy to tell you that the operation was a success, our dog is tumor free and her coat is back to it s beautiful former self. She gained back weight she lost and 8 months later, she is happier and healthier than ever before.I cannot imagine what I would have done if I let her go 8 months ago on the recommendation of Dr. Jiao. He was so willing to just give up and here we are, 8 months later and our dog is in perfect health thanks to another animal hospital with a wonderful staff and excellent, caring doctors.I would just say that I don t think he is an awful doctor, he was good to us for many years, but then again nothing was ever that serious that we needed him to do. To those who he tells to put your dog to sleep, go and get a second opinion, it may work for you, it may not but thank goodness we did. Don t just take his word for everything. He is a human being, he is not perfect but to think we could have let him kill(yes, kill) our dog 8 months ago and not have had this time with her just makes me sad. We ve taken her on so many trips since and just yesterday, she swam in the ocean and was loving every second of it.Give your dog a chance, and ask for their records sooner than I did. read more

Dr.Jiao has cared for generation's of my pets and he is one of the few left in his field that truly care for what they do. It is obvious that Dr.Jiao does what out of love for his practice. He's a very good man and will do everything possible to prevent you from spending a dime more than you need. In the near 20 years my family has seen Dr.Jiao, he has never once padded our bills and ha always been very transparent when writing the invoice. Aside from his honesty, hes genuinely knowledgeable and highly skilled in his practice and knows how to explain (and patiently so) in detail and understandably what ails your loved one. read more

He really changed over the years... my family went to him for over ten years but would never go again. NOW he's a money hungry greedy vet that's quick to jump to conclusions and put animals down. Maybe if he didn't employ every relative he has he could keep his prices at a decent level. He's more expensive than Petsmart and his equipment/office hasn't been updated in years. I will NEVER take any of my 4 animals back to him and neither will my parents or siblings. I was told by a better vet that my dog might still be alive had I not went to jiao (who jumped to conclusions and didn't put in any effort for my dog. The test results that came back after my dog passed (that I got from a different more advanced vet) proved that jiao was completely wrong. Terrible Vet!! We took a few of our pets here for the past two years and each time we visited, it got worse and worse! Everything seems to border on the negative with him. First of all, he has no bed side manner whatsoever! He rudely rushes you in and out and when you ask him for more information on what's going on with your pet, he gets annoyed and raises his voice. We had taken our dog here and all he did was look him over and told us he had cancer and we should think about putting him to sleep. Needless to say, we sought another opinion and our dog wound up having nothing more than an intestinal virus. Because our dog was older he felt he didn't have the need to undergo blood tests and the like. The new Vet was surprised that Dr Jiao never ran any kind of blood or urine work on our dog. We also had taken two of our cats here as well. One cat had an abscess on his tooth that Dr Jiao diagnosed as cancer of the mouth. He looked me straight in the eye and coldly told me the best thing to do would be to "put him to sleep" Being so naive and trusting we took his advice and to this day Im still not over it. The reason being is that our second cat had wound up with the very same thing, assess on his tooth and Dr Jiao in his exact words told us "this is very odd that he has the same thing as your other cat had, are they related?" NO, they weren't related and then he suggested we put him to sleep so he wouldnt suffer. Well, we were more wiser second time around and sought another opinion and the new Vet said it was just an infected tooth and just needed to be pulled!! Fast forward 5 years later and our kitty is still here thank goodness!! This all happened around the same time as we bought our dog in. My biggest regret was listening to him and having our first cat put down. And don't even let me get started with that procedure! It was the coldest thing we ever had to go through. We had never gone through this before and thought that we could have at least a few minutes alone to say goodbye to our beloved cat. Well, Dr Jiao came rushing in, grabbed him by the rear and stuck a needle in him real quick, then followed by another shot! I hadn't even realized he was gone had my sister not tell me! Then his "assistant" came out and grabbed our kitty to be placed in a freezer there. It was all so cold and heartless and Im still sick over it!! There was nothing peaceful about it believe me!!! This man is terribly cold and unfeeling and I honestly don't think he likes his job at all!! He surely doesn't seem to love animals like a Vet should!!! He seems to enjoy handing out death sentences for your pets. By all means STAY AWAY!!! There are plenty of more caring knowledgeable, patient and understanding Vets out there for our loving pets...and he's not one of them! read more

In the last 20 years, he has treated all my cat companions - who are more than cats to me. Fluffy was gently put to sleep in Jan., 2006 and Maggie on Nov. 10, 2012. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Jaio. We have been going to him for over 10 years. We had three boxers but unfortunately one passed away suddenly on Aug. 3rd in my home. To say we were all a mess is such an understatement. It was a Sunday and as soon as we called Dr. Jaio he told us he would open so we can bring our precious Brutus there until they could cremate him, What type of vet does that???
