Then Dr. Whittington came in and was wonderful taking a lot of time with our pup and explained things to us in great detail. If she's there I think, I said I think, we will be there too. She really is tremendous. The vet assistant was very sweet as well, she comforted and kissed my scared pup while he was getting examined. Yes we were very hesitant to go after reading the reviews but our dog needed a checkup. He also got a yearly exam and 3 vaccines. And I got their flea and tick medicine and heart worm medicine. It was a total of $700 which seemed steep to me but we did to have quite a few needs. So I don't know if it's expensive or not. The front desk needs a better disposition without question. I'm shocked that there are so many reviews about it yet it seems like nothing is done. Odd. I do think they could to sink a little money into the decor. It is old and tired and could use updating. I brought my yellow Labrador, Piper, to Miller Clark for approximately 12 years. Over that time, we rarely saw the same veterinarian twice. Although I was not always satisfied with the continuity of her care, I overrode my gut instinct and trusted the professionals. In April 2026, I brought Piper in for her annual examination and vaccinations. I specifically reported that she had become lethargic and appeared to be having difficulty breathing. Over the following two-plus months, I returned repeatedly, and Piper was examined by three different veterinarians, Dr. Elyas, Dr. Azer and Dr. Song. She was prescribed antibiotics and steroids, and two radiology reports were completed. Despite these treatments, she did not improve, and I continued to communicate that something was wrong. On Thursday, July 9, Dr. Elyas called me with the final results and confidently told me that Piper was a "healthy dog" and that there was "nothing wrong with her." This was despite my repeatedly reporting that her symptoms had not improved. When I challenged that conclusion and again expressed concern about her lack of improvement, his response was, "You could go see a specialist." It was not communicated as a genuine or urgent medical recommendation, nor was I offered help coordinating a referral. The response felt dismissive--as though seeking another opinion was simply something I could do if I refused to accept his reassurance. Because I knew Piper was not well and I felt challenged by Miller Clark, I sought a second opinion at an emergency hospital. An ultrasound revealed significant abnormalities involving her spleen and liver, and further testing ultimately confirmed large-cell lymphoma in her spleen. She was also anemic and experiencing gastrointestinal bleeding. Her condition deteriorated rapidly, and she later developed aspiration pneumonia and required oxygen support. I am still stunned as to how Miller Clark missed this. On Thursday, July 16--only one week after I was told that she was healthy and nothing was wrong--my beloved Piper had to be euthanized. I understand that lymphoma can be aggressive and that an earlier diagnosis may not necessarily have changed Piper's ultimate outcome. My concern is that, over multiple visits and despite persistent symptoms, a lack of improvement, and my continued advocacy for her, the seriousness of her condition was not recognized. Being told so definitively that nothing was wrong--and then having my concerns dismissed when I questioned that conclusion--made the experience even more devastating. My experience also reflected a troubling lack of continuity. During Piper's 12 years as a patient, we rarely saw the same veterinarian twice, and in her final months she was evaluated by three different doctors. The practice felt focused on repeated appointments and charges without anyone taking full ownership of her worsening condition or looking at the complete picture. Piper was a deeply loved member of my family, and I trusted Miller Clark with her care for most of her life. I am sharing this so other pet owners understand the importance of seeking a second opinion when their instincts tell them something is wrong--even when they have been reassured otherwise.

Most recently, I saw Dr. Lotus Altholtz, who was very kind and gentle to my 2 nervous cats (though my cats might complain that she wants me to cut back on their treats a bit). The biggest stars though, are the assistants (nurses ?) who help keep my 2 calm and on the table during exams. They are all very friendly, and help put both my cats and me, a very nervous first time cat owner, at ease. The Place is clean and it's not hard to get in for an appointment. My biggest issue is the turnover of doctors. Once I find a vet they never stay. I like to know my veterinarian and remain with the same person. I recently have been to a young doctor who I really liked and now I don't remember her name and I would have liked to follow her wherever she went. I have yet to find someone I really like in Fairfield county. But GAH so far has been the best option.
