I have been using Greenwich Animal Hospital for the last 8 years for my two Labradoodles. Mia and Dee at the front desk are amazing , sweet and super helpful. The Place is clean and it's not hard to get in for an appointment. My biggest issue is the turnover of doctors. Once I find a vet they never stay. I like to know my veterinarian and remain with the same person. I recently have been to a young doctor who I really liked and now I don't remember her name and I would have liked to follow her wherever she went. I have yet to find someone I really like in Fairfield county. But GAH so far has been the best option. read more

Where to start...at the beginning where else! Since living in Westchester County I've only had 2 veterinary services. One I left because there was a big change in staff and not for the better, the other , the corporate office decided to close my location after 10 months. At that point it didn't matter since my dog had crossed the rainbow bridge. A new four legged furry entered the picture so I now needed a new vet. I came to Greenwich Veterinary Center on a recommendation. Since I had no history for my new partner in crime, I took advantage of their introductory offer for a "free" first appointment, sort of lets meet. The front staff was welcoming. The wait was reasonable. The tech came in brought us into an exam room we informed her we needed to get a baseline on health and vaccinations Karina asked the all important probing questions. Then the vet came in and she took time to perform the 120 point new vehicle check. Once she was done with the initial check up she went over a game plan. As it turned out my dog was mostly caught up with all his vaccinations. My big concern was flea, tick, and heartworm since I did not have any preventive meds and needed to get. At no point did I feel pressured to do anything additional everything was clearly explained. My only issue which mirrors other comments is the costs. Final thought, the facility was very clean and well lit, always a good sign! read more

My experience at Greenwich Veterinary has always been excellent. I bring my 4 dogs here for all of their needs, pricing is average for the area but nonetheless the people who work here are amazing and the doctor always explains everything to you in the exam room. read more

This place is overpriced. I just had to pay $400 for a vaccine and $45 for a nail trim. I never asked for a full exam($95). And they take your pet away for the vaccine. The dog is traumatized anyway why wouldn't they let the dog be with its owner when the vaccine is given? I have never experienced anything so awful in my life. I plan on going there first thing Monday to demand a refund. How do I even know they gave my dog the vaccine? I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!! If I could give them zero stars I would. What could improve???? THE WORST. Do NOT go. The firm is UNPROFESSIONAL and has ZERO protocols. DISGUSTING. I wouldn't trust this firm. I made an appointment for my three sick dogs. Literally 15 minutes prior in a TEXT (didn't even bother to call), I was told we had to provide a passport or license id to be seen. I have followed Dr. Camilla Colberg all over from one practice to the next. She is the only vet i have found that our large german shepherd responds well to. He is larger than the Dr but he will do her bidding as she quietly directs him. Another vet required six technicians and couldn't treat our gentle giant. They said he was a danger to himself as he was so frantic to escape. Dr Colberg is professional, thorough and relatable. I don't love the location as a dog, if he escaped, would be right on a terribly busy road. Exercise caution. Look at the poor review dates. They are ancient. Dr Colberg has only had the practice the last three years or so. read more

The care and attention given to each furry patient is truly exceptional. The veterinarians take the time to explain everything in detail and make sure all questions are answered. Their dedication to the well-being of pets is evident in every aspect of their practice. I wouldn't trust my dog's care to anyone else! Terrible experience all around for me over the Christmas holidays. My dog required an ACL repair - Cornell Veterinary orthopedic consultations were booking 6 weeks out, so I searched for something earlier. GVC indicated ~week for initial consultation, plus another ~week for surgery, so decided to go with them. However, GVC uses the 'traveling orthopedic surgery' (not in-house), Dr Pacchiana. After initial consultation, it took another 12 days to get a date for surgery, which was TWO MONTHS from the initial consultation. This was completely unacceptable - called VCA Norwalk and completed both consultation and surgery within 12 days (with excellent follow-up and response, btw). VCA surgeon (and assistant) told me they didn't need/use the $400+ of X-Rays that GVC charged me so I not only wasted that money, but also the nearly 3 weeks time for GVC's consultation and surgery date. Also found GVC follow-up and response to be poor with 2 of 3 conversations with the doctor taking a week or more to get a call back. read more

I'm not sure where all the negative reviews are for, but I have had nothing but amazing experiences here. The doctors and staff couldn't be more friendly, accommodating and compassionate. i had an appointment today they told me to wait so i sat down with my dog 10 minutes later when it was 5 after the hr i was supposed to be there they started asking questions so i told them that my wife was on the way and she would know better it was already ten minutes past the hr and the receptionist said where is your wife ? its already ten minutes past im going to talk to my medical staff because this appointment now is like if it was missed or canceled i walked out and said thank you we'll be back without even looking at their faces in other words i feel like i was kicked out of the place my question is when they take their time and make uyou wait for 1/2 hr sometimes more there's no rules for that?i hope I don't have to comeback there so unprofessional read more

They will rip you off any way they can. They charge twice as much for prescriptions as my old vet. They also want you to pay $50 to write outside prescriptions. These are people consumed with greed not caring about animals. Plus they tried to overvaccinate my dog but then I got them to admit it was a "computer glitch." Yah, right. There's another vet down the block -- use them instead. There is no way they could've been worse. I hate to say this, but these folks are evil. Just want all of your money and could care less about your pets. Please look elsewhere for a vet. read more

BEWARE -- RECENT CHANGE IN OWNERSHIP AND QUALITY. Dr Bell is no longer running this clinic and it shows. I have been a loyal supporter of GVC ever since Dr. Bell saved my dog's life 8 years ago. I never blinked at the high cost because the care was so great. Not anymore. I brought my dog in for her annual check up last month and discovered that Dr Bell had sold his practice to a corporation. I should have walked out as soon as I overheard that (only from the front desk talking, no one offered this information to me). The appointment was routine and it was discovered that my dog needed to be on prescription food and eventually medication. It was a difficult process and my dog was not well. Twice my urgent messages left with the front desk were unanswered. Poor customer care and inadequate follow through. I will never return to this office and recommend the same for you. read more

I took my cat to the Center for a check-up of his respiratory system. The quality of their service was remarkable: it was quick and efficient. Scheduling of an appointment was easy, the waiting time was not very long, the doctor and personnel are very competent. They quickly run tests so that the results are ready the following day. The only downside is the prices. A single visit during which they did a so-called "wellness profile" for my cat cost me around $1k. Before agreeing to run all the tests (half of them were clearly unnecessary) the doctor offers you an estimate cost but it's kind of hard to be skimpy on the health of your beloved pet. read more

They ripped me off when I was in the most vulnerable time of need. I drove all the way from Brooklyn to see the doctor. Explained when I made my appt to see him that my cat had a high rise fall and was in need of the best emergency surgeon out there. Even though I specifically asked to see that doctor, they confirmed an appt with me to come in knowing that he was on vacation! Deceptive!!! Then the doctor covering for him saw me and then even though I had xrays already from the Aspca and Verg wanted to take more unnecessary xrays only to tell me THEN that the surgeon I was there wouldnt be back for two weeks anyways!!!! Took my $320 and I tried to dispute and fight the charges and never got my money back!!! I am going to report on Better Business Bureau next! If I could give ZERO stars I would! Took advantage of me at the worst time and could have prevented my cat from the proper surgery! Thank God for the Aspca they fixed him instead! I agree completely w previous reviews. The quality of animal health care is excellent. It you take your animal to Greenwich Veterinary Hospital they will be well taken care of and provided excellent care. They looked after our Golden for six years and our Ragdoll cat for nine years. The office staff is generally as described in a previous review. Maybe it is a turnover or training issue I am not sure. It does not extend to the professional or care staff who are all great. The care does have a price. It is rare to walk out w a bill of less than $500. The tests go on forever. I have talked to Dr Bell about this issue and he is sympathetic but offers no suggestions. I have changed vets where the dog is equally well cared for and the tests are appropriate. Hard to do but I think better for all. read more

Hands down the best veterinary experience I've ever had! Dr. Maria Smeriglio has taken excellent care of my dog, and is always patient with all of my many questions. She did a wonderful job with my dog's surgery and his stitches healed perfectly. The front desk staff is great too. I just moved here from Denver and didn't have a vet here yet. After my dog was injured in a scuffle with another dog, I called GVS and they not only insisted I bring him in right away, but stayed open until I arrived. Dr. Bell was kind and reassuring and didn't insist on ordering a bunch of tests, but encouraged me to keep an eye on him and sent me home with some pain medication. The prices are a bit high, but the vet techs, Joanne and Carlos, were wonderful. read more

Sets the gold standard in animal care. I have brought dogs to Greenwich Veternary Hospital for about 8 years. All the vets have been knowledgeable, fast, and considerate. They see patients right away with a minimal wait. If it is an emergency, they can set up appointments on the same day. They treat the animal as a member of the family. Perhaps normal for Greenwich, prices are a little high. That may be no different from other vets in the area, and certainly the care is the best. For instance, we are charged a normal fee per vet visit but then many things done during the appointment cost extra -- clipping the dog's toenails, cleaning the ears, applying a cream...they are all extra. At times, I have felt that the vets are too quick to want to do additional tests and to intervene. I am no expert, but compared with other vets I have gone to, I felt that extra tests were being prescribed. For instance, when one dog had a lump, the vet was eager to aspirate it and send a sample to a pathologist. When the cytology came back inconclusive, the vet recommended removing the lump just to be safe. That is the right thing to do, I guess, but other vets said to not worry about it and to keep an eye on it. Certainly the vet recommended the safest path. It was just more intervention than other vets recommended. Or, when a dog had an ear infection, the vet charged a good deal to clean the ears and sell ear cleaning solutions and an antibacterial cream that were together about $25. Had this been the good old days, the vet might have recommended washing the ear out with vinegar at home ($0) with no additional expense. Overall, I feel that this vet office is highly skilled and sets the highest standard. read more

If i could I would give them 0 stars. It was my first and last time there. I called yesterday and set an appointment for my dog in the afternoon, and after I gave ALL his info and mine , the lady on the phone said she made a mistake and they only have grooming services in the morning, so I ended up booking for today at 10am. When I got there she told me I did not have any appointments, but was very accommodating and took him in. My good impression ended up there. When I called at 1pm to check if I could pick him up I was told that they hand't started on him yet, since they had an emergency. I really understand the word emergency, but the right thing to do is to get the front desk to call the owners of the pets and check if it is OK to delay for two hours. I would not complain IF my dog were clean and looking nice. IT WAS THE WORSE bath he's had. So I called and talked to the manager who said she was doing me a favor because I did not have an appointment and also that I had no reason to complain. They are a veterinary clinic and not a grooming place, so they have priorities. I wonder if everybody who attended the dog in the emergency were fully capable ( since apparently not even the secretary were available to call me). When my dog got in the car he drank a full cup of water. Which means that he was dehydrated and they did not give him water while he was waiting. When I complaint about that the manager argue with me (again). She kept talking over me. She didn't listen to me at all. I think if they can't provide a service without compromising the other they should not offer the service. I'm very disappointed because not only my dog was not considered important (as every client should be) but my dissatisfaction was not properly addressed. No, I do not recommend this place to anybody. Do your pet a favor: find a place that takes grooming seriously, where people care about your dog and are considerate to their owners. read more

Horrible experience! Too bad you can't give zero stars! This was my first and last visit to this Vet. I felt a bad vibe as soon as walked into the exam room. The office had all my pups previous medical history and Dr. Bell was trying to retest for things my pup already received. When I told him I didn't want to over vaccinate my animal he said, well then how am I supposed to make money off you. I felt very uncomfortable in the 5 mins I was there. and grabbed my puppy and left. I didn't even want to pay the $73 office fee. It was such a joke! I immediately left and went down the street to Greenwich Animal Hospital. I walked in without an appointment and met with Dr. Modi. She was so nice and informative. She actually spoke to me like a human being and dollar signs weren't flashing from her eyes. Dr. Modi treated me with respect and answered all my questions without seeming annoyed. The Veterinarians are wonderful at this place. I have used both Dr. Landaman, and Dr. Bell. They were very kind to my pets and thorough and helped us diagnose some serious issues and walked us through every step. I was a client for about 5 years, but I stopped going. Not because of the doctors, but because of their receptionist. She was the rudest receptionist ever. She is the one with the UK accent. The time that set me off was the final straw. I have to buy my pet food through them as its a special diet. Normally you call ahead of time so they can get it from their storage which can take a while and have it ready for you. I called and the accent woman answered and told me they did not do that anymore, and I had to come down. So I went down and saw they did have food waiting for people- I questioned her about the phone, and she said I don't know who told you that but of course not. SHE IS THE ONLY ONE WITH THE ACCENT. I don't think she thought I was coming right down. Anyway, I then stood there to ask her to get it for me and she said I would have to wait till she finished up with someone. I waited. The person left and she said she was still too busy to talk to me. She made me wait 20 minutes before even asking what I wanted then I had to wait while the people got it from storage, she should have ordered it as soon as i got in so it was atleast down there. She was doing nothing but sitting there for 20 min doing paper work. I had spent thousands there over the year and this was the last straw. Other things she has done to me is given me a hard time when trying to book an appointment, because I had not brought my animal there in a long time, she acted like they may not see him anymore. My animal had been with my parents in another state while I got married and honeymooned and resettled in a new house. She is always rude on the phone. I have even seen her rude to a woman who was upset cause she hit a dog, and the injured dog was the in her car. She was so mean to that woman, no compassion. Told the woman the don't take injuries so she'll have to go somewhere else, very coldly. No offers of where to go. Or directions. I wish they had a nicer receptionist so I could still take my pets there. But I am not risking dealing with her anymore, after all you see the vet 10 minutes, but its her we deal with the rest of the time. read more

My family and I have been going to Dr. Bell for as long as I can remember. Dr. Bell recently diagnosed my dog with lymphoma, a form of cancer. The prognosis wasn't looking good and if I didn't treat him as soon as possible, he wouldn't have much more time. Because I couldn't afford the most expensive treatment and didn't want to put my beloved animal through horrible amounts of chemotherapy and make him uncomfortable, we decided on something that was both affordable and known to put the cancer in remission successfully with fewer treatments. He was diagnosed close to 1 year ago and has made it to his eighth birthday! He's on a regimen of prednisone every other day and is as puppy-like and hyper as ever. I would highly recommend this hospital because of the great quality of care and medical knowledge. Not to mention how beautiful and clean the hospital is and the front desk is always so friendly. Dr. Bell and Dr. Blackler saved my dog's life and I will be forever grateful! read more
