Taquito's is the one of the first relatively credible Mexican restaurants to hit burrito-deprived Victoria (as Barbara K says, there is Loco Mexicana, but let's not talk about that..). And it's okay. The ingredients in the burrito I had were fresh and fairly tasty, but overall it was a bit dry too - perhaps some Guacamole at 70 pence extra would have made a difference. I don't think the burritos are up there with Chilango's or Tortilla and I think they may need to consider introducing some cheaper options (burritos start from £5.50) given the many tasty lunch alternatives available nearby (e.g. Tachbrook Street market) for noticeably less, but Taquito's is a very welcome addition nevertheless. It's way better (and cheaper) then loco mexicana down the street.... although I'm not sure how much that says? From the start a couple of things.... I asked for tacos with corn tortillas, except they were out of corn tortillas. Since I can't eat flour tortillas I asked for a naked burrito bowl. I was going to eat it there and they presented everything I wanted beautifully on a nice plate and it all looked delicious. When I didn't know which meat to choose they let me sample. Grilled chicken? delicious. Shredded pork? moist and tender. I ultimately settled for the shredded pork. I will say the menu suggested they had about 5 or 6 different types of meat but really I only saw 3 or 4. Not sure about the rest (I had asked for the shredded chicken but they did not have). I think part of the problem was they had just recently opened when I went so they were still ironing out the kinks so to speak. That being said... Everything I had was tasty. Meat was tender, salsa was fresh and staff was friendly. My biggest complaint was that the food (meat and refried beans) weren't hot enough. They were barely warm actually. A large disappointment on a cold winter afternoon. At the end of the meal a man that worked there asked how everything was and I did express to him that the meat and beans weren't that warm and he didn't seem overly concerned although he did go talk to someone behind the counter about the temperature. As a half Mexican who apparently gets home sick easily while vacationing from Southern California (a few hours drive from Mexico), this place was a welcome sight. Fast, relatively friendly, and very reasonably priced. I decided to splurge and get a shredded beef quesadilla and my ever disciplined husband got a burrito and told them to hold the meat. You can't really mess up a bean and rice burrito (well I guess you could but I'd hate to find out who would do such a thing). My quesadilla was large enough for me to split into two meals and a snack! They were almost too generous with the meat. But let's talk about the meat and why just four stars are awarded from me. It is not my opinion traditionally spiced. We each pondered after a bite. Was it a hint of curry? Cinnamon? It wasn't horrible, but it just wasn't right. My hunger was satisfied. Visiting from a part of the U.S. with excellent Mexican food. We got a burrito, two tacos, two bottles of water and a coke for about 14 pounds...which I thought was a pretty good deal. They were both great, for what you would expect from a more or less fast-food Mexican joint. It is head over heels better than loco mexicano down the street! Haven't tried the place in victoria station to compare. So far I have had the burrito and quesadilla, both were delicious. I had a burrito with shreeded beef which was amazing, almost cinnamony flavor to the beef which was really good. The pico de gallo, and guacamole tasted very fresh, and they warmed up the tortilla decently. I really liked that they asked me if I wanted rice or beans in my burrito, this is an option that not many places give. Of course a pure meat burrito would not be very good. There are two veg options as well, grilled peppers and onions or courgette and mushrooms. The quesadilla had grilled chicken which was very tender and juicy. They do have fresh juices on offer, a little expensive but worth the price as they make it fresh. There is a breakfast menu with a few things I haven't seen on offer in other places such as Mexican Sopes. But as they just opened they weren't actually making them yet. We (two people) had one of the sharing platters for four people and that was just about enough food. The BBQ meats were tender, but everything else was so-so. The guac tasted like it was made from unripened avocado. The chips were kind of stale. The salsa was prepared warm (my own preference is cold as is normally served). Found this place after a walk to check out the Sainsbury's Market across the street. A burrito enthusiast, I recently moved office from near Marylebone where we had a Chipotle, and prior to that I was near Fleet Street and enjoyed Chilangos. Taquitos cooked me a fresh grilled chicken burrito. Really tasty and the flavours were delicate - I could taste each element unlike some other burrito places where you are often overpowered by the salsa or beans. The chicken was grilled in front of me and took around five minutes. The end result was a hefty burrito loaded with all sorts of great flavours. My only negative is that the sour cream was squirted out of a sauce bottle and was far less creamy than other vendors. Overall I was pleased and I will go back again to try the steak burrito. read more

This is a pretty regular Chipotle-style burrito place. I was so hungry that I put my scepticism aside, as I know the copies are rarely as good as the original. I was pleasantly surprised though! You're not getting the quality ingredients (the guac was definitely out of a packet) but the prices reflect the slight budget style of it. I was really impressed with the veggies though, as they were tasty and seemed freshly prepared with care. What bumps this place up a star is the sweetheart service and kind attention of the staff. read more

This quick service Mexican place was a real find. Wanted a fast meal before heading out to the bars. We had the naked burrito, which is a burrito bowl in the US. The grilled chicken version was delicious, and along with the rice, black beans, and salsa, made for a satisfying meal. Will go back if time allows. read more

I've had a lot of people rave about Taquito's, but I found it rather average. Most of the meats were too watery, and just turned into mush. The grilled meat, while better, needed actual prepping off the bat so you needed to wait 5 minutes. Their vegetables contain some weird choices (broccoli?) and other than that, the whole product ends up being rather unremarkable. read more

As someone who is from southern California, I was ready for some Mexican food after having been in the UK for over a week. I ordered a steak burrito and the guy behind the counter asked how I liked my steak. This was a good sign. My steak was being cooked to order - and it was cooked to perfect medium. The steak was soft and absolutely delicious. And they were cut large enough that you could really taste the meat. Oh, when they say "hot" sauce, they do mean hot. This was fine with me, but if you aren't used to spicy food, I would suggest medium. All in all, for less than 6 pounds, it was great. read more

I was there last Friday and I ordered a grilled chicken burrito. The food was very nice, well seasoned and fresh. The only downside was the service: I found it was extremely slow and not particularly attentive. A tall man, member of staff, was expressing a lot of anger towards the colleagues in Spanish, which I slightly understand. I was shocked to hear those words being used in public. Very rude staff especially the blond woman. She needs to go back to school and learn how to provide good customer service. Evidently, what matters to this place are take out orders. The walk-in customers are just ignored. We waited for more than 30 minutes and was given a cold shoulder. When my friend asked if our orders can be taken after waiting for so long, she responded with a bad attitude & said that they are busy. We started leaving and they laughed at us. In the U.S., the customers in the restaurants are serviced 1st and take out customers are secondary. read more
