Visited Arandas in Cypress on Huffmeister for a quick breakfast and it was great! Enjoyed eggs and sausage and we also tried their omelet. Price was perfect and the service was excellent! Management also works to match the environment with the season or holiday to create a positive ambiance. Very nice!

I didn't get to check the restrooms but I assume there's only a baby changer in the women's. The place has changed a lot since I last visited the building. Before, it was a home style American restaurant and now it's taqueria arandas! The food was pretty good. The 2 person fajita portion seemed a little small but maybe it was the platter that made it look small. The tortillas were not my favorite. Both the corn and flour tortillas were very thin. The flour tortillas were not made in house, and if they were they were the thinnest homemade tortillas I ever did see. One person at the table had a fajita torta and they said it was tasty. The fajita/parrillada plate came with charro beans (soup), a serving of ensalada (diced jalapeños, shredded lettuce) and a serving of rice. The rice was a little more moist than I'm used to but the flavor was alright. They do have delicious aguas frescas! Horchata (a sweet rice milk; it is not milk thick nor a shake), piña (pineapple), Jamaica (a sweet fruit), and sometimes watermelon. The piña was really good and the horchata was really yummy. I would go back. The service was pretty good. The green salsa is HOT but has great taste. We will return.

When in the area this is my favorite place for authentic Mexican food. Food is consistently good, staff is always friendly, especially Ms. Luz Elena. Cuando estoy en la zona, este es mi lugar favorito para comer auténtica comida mexicana. La comida siempre es buena y el personal es siempre amable, especialmente la Sra. Luz Elena.

We ordered chile con queso And just by the smell projecting off of the cheese it was terrible! We initially thought the cheese went bad but it was actually severely burnt in the pot. We told the waitress and she took it back. But it was still not the best queso. Then I received my taco salad and there was something very off with the chicken. The shell it came in was very soft and tasted cold. I would never come back to this location again. The whole experience was not good.

The food here is consistently good. I usually get the beef taquitos (they're actually street tacos) which are pretty hard to beat. They beans are the best around! And they spicy green salsa keeps us coming back for more.

First time visit to this small and excellent restaurant…read more Located at the corner of Fry Road and Mound Road it has a restaurant seating area of about 50 and a large bar area for 20 more. The menu is short but includes most of the classics. I had the Seafood Tacos and my wife had the Chicken Mole Enchilada. The tacos were surrounded by a flour tortilla (corn is also available) with fish that can be grilled or steamed. Packed with flavor from the onions, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and more I enjoyed every last bite. The plate included rice, beans, and sliced red onion. Delicious My wife loved her selection as well. The serving was big enough to take home what was not consumed allowing her an extra day to enjoy the mole. We also ordered a side of guacamole which was served as a huge rounded scoop on a plank. Don't get me started on the chips we used to eat every last bit of the guacamole. When we told our waiter, Jose, how much we liked the chips he gave us a bag to take home! I had some today and they were still crunchy with a hint of salt. Now to drinks: my wife had the house Pinot Grigio and I the house margarita which I ordered frozen with no salt. The margarita had a clear lime note but did not suffer from it. All in all we agreed that Carmelita's deserves a return visit next time Mexican food is our choice.

Given all the shortcuts that so many restaurants take, this place deserves a "5" just for the fact that they do make everything themselves. And our meal was really excellent as well and a very fair price. We started with a Cheese quesadilla and our special request to have onions in there as well. It was good. For brunch we ordered the $12 Concha French Toast because Mr. Picky has a sweet tooth. That is Concha bread soaked in vanilla bean custard, topped with caramel, toasted coconut, cinnamon, whipped cream and berries. Mr. Picky didn't even need the side syrup. I like savory items and I so ordered the El Valle which was also $12. Two cheese enchiladas which I topped with sunny side up eggs, served with white rice and refried black beans. I added seasoned ground beef into the enchiladas and that was an extra $2. I requested white cheese enchiladas, don't know if that was standard or not. I am not a huge bean lover, but I have to tell you that the refried black beans on that plate were delicious. Very filling dish, tasted really good and it was a great value. Brunch is served Saturday & Sunday from 9am-3pm. I think this is the best breakfast/brunch I've had in the past two years. Generous amount of food and I couldn't finish it all. They have a bakery section and we walked over to look and see what we wanted to have for dessert. We couldn't decide between the interesting-looking carrot cake, the praline cheesecake or flan on top of chocolate cake. So we ordered and shared all three! LOL. Our favorites were the carrot cake and the praline cheesecake. I think this is the best breakfast/brunch we've had in the past two years. Generous amount of food and I couldn't finish it all. Five stars for making everything themselves, waiter Eduardo was very helpful, and we're definitely coming back soon!!!

We opted for Molcajete dish. The meats were tender, sauce had great flavours without being too spicy and all side dishes were tasty. This dish is plenty for party of two. "My Homework Turned Into Date Night (with Myself)" 02-14-26…read more I came here on Valentine's Day to do a writing assignment my professor gave us, and I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the food all the same. When I walked in, the hostess offered to seat me in the private party area. I declined and told her, "I'm here for a writing assignment," and asked if I could sit somewhere with a clear view of the bar. She didn't hesitate. She told me to follow her and led me to a booth with a clean, perfect shot of the bar, front row without having to climb onto a stool. She handed me a menu and told me to enjoy my evening. The bar itself was shaped like an oblong oval ring with gold seats lined up like little lifeboats, almost like a ship's bridge. Above it, about ten flat screens hovered in an oval formation, suspended in the air. Upside-down margarita glasses and champagne flutes hung overhead like delicate chandeliers in an expensive mansion. The bar area was filled with couples and solo diners enjoying the screens, sipping margaritas and champagne, and crunching on complimentary chips and salsa. Customer service was fantastic. My server, Ale, was highly energetic, lively, knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. I felt very well taken care of during this dining experience, which was supposed to just be a writing assignment, but it turned into a rewarding little night out. The complimentary chips and salsa were also pretty good. The atmosphere was vibrating at a high-energy level. There was loud laughter and conversation all around, the sound of dishes clanging in the kitchen, servers moving back and forth, and bussers scanning the room for abandoned tables to clean. For my appetizer, I ordered the shrimp crab cake along with a Cucumber Melon Margarita on the rocks. Both were absolutely delicious. The crab cake was mouthwatering and delectable, and that margarita was refreshingly fruity and strong, so good I ordered a second one. For my entrée, I ordered the beef fajita plate for one with cilantro rice, charro beans, and corn tortillas. I also added a side of the La Viva Shrimp (bacon-wrapped). I don't eat pork often, so I peeled the bacon off, and even without it, the shrimp was exceptionally tantalizing, full of bold seafood flavor. My entire plate was the bee's knees. I can't even explain how good the food was. Food Ratings Shrimp Crab Cake: 5/5 La Viva Shrimp: 5/5 Beef Fajitas: 5/5 Cilantro Rice: 5/5 Charro Beans: 5/5 Overall, La Viva Cantina is an upbeat, lively spot serving delicious comida with great customer service and an inviting atmosphere. I highly recommend it for date night, or even a solo night at the bar. You won't be disappointed.

We were seated on the patio with a beautiful lake view. Our waiter greeted us, brought our drinks, and even brought a bowl of water for my dog. For context, he is a service animal and was wearing his vest. He's a small Shihtzu. He's stayed calm, quiet, and under the table the entire time. After we got our drinks... nothing. We waited about 45 minutes to an hour and no one ever came back to take our food order, check on us, or acknowledge us. Meanwhile, the same waiter was actively serving every table around us..taking orders, bringing out food, and engaging with guests just not with us. The only time he came back was at the very end... to drop off the tab for our two Micheladas. That was it. Never once came to take our order for appetizers or food. We weren't rude, weren't demanding just sitting there talking with each other, catching up and waiting like any other customers. At that point, I was so disappointed I didn't even want to say anything. We just paid and left. I've never felt so overlooked and honestly, it felt like discrimination. I don't make that claim lightly, but when you're the only table not being served, it's hard to ignore. What's even more disappointing is that I've been to the Ambriza Cinco Ranch location multiple times and always had great service, even celebrated my birthday there. This was my first time at the Town Lake location, and it was the complete opposite experience. Beautiful location, but I won't be returning or recommending this location to anyone.

The food was good, flavorful, and satisfying, but I would not say it stood out as amazing or the best Mexican food I have had. I would compare it to the Chili's of Mexican food. It gets the job done, it tastes good, but it is not super authentic or unforgettable. What really stood out was the service. It was truly extraordinary. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience feel welcoming. That level of service is honestly the main reason I would come back. Price wise, it felt a little high for what you get. I cannot say it was much better than something like Chipotle, even though it was about double the price. That said, the environment makes a difference. The restaurant has a fun, lively vibe, and it looks like they have great drinks and margaritas, even though I did not try any this time. Overall, I would recommend coming here for the atmosphere and excellent service. The food is solid and dependable, just not top tier Mexican cuisine. I would give it another try mainly because of how well we were treated.
