Italian tacos - who knew?…read more Admittedly I screwed up by ordering at Franklin Square, meant to do Floral Park and stood there like a dummy as those poor folks searched for my order before we finally discovered my fubar. Despite the delay everything was still hot & fresh on arrival at location #2. Gotta love it. From start to finish I was thoroughly impressed with the product from Tony's Tacos. Everything I tried was very impressive Funghi Quesadilla hit all the marks. I'm a huge fan of sauteed mushrooms/onions and this had the perfect level of caramelization that melded oh so well with the cheesy goodness. Scarpetta tacos - chef's kiss. It was like sunday gravy on a taco in the best way possible. They describe it as Italian birria and it's pretty spot on, super tender shredded beef, and the accompanying sauce I could drink a bucket of it was that damn tasty. Street corn - all the right flavors in all the right ways, just be sure to give it a stir before you dig in, melding that mayo & tajin into every bite took it to the next level. This is a must try that I can easily see becoming an addiction. Return is a lock as there's so much more good looking stuff on the menu that I need to chow down on.

Tacos come in 3/order; can be mixed meat as well except for some options, like lengua which was charged per taco. Tasted the cheesy pupusas before. No tamales. Tamarind drink is on the sweeter side. I prefer the horchata here. Service was attentive. The young man during our last visit was very pleasant. They accommodate requests to put toppings on the side. Other customers and my friends recommend the Chopped Cheese Taco and the "Shroom" (shrimp and mushroom) taco. They also serve fun fusion items like a pizza/quesadilla hybrid. Don't skip the churros or their extensive fruit-flavored margarita menu. This recent time that we visited my wife and I ordered the 2 taco combo, I opted for the cod club taco and my wife chose the shrimp club taco with guacamole and chips as the side. The cod club taco has a very good balance of textures and flavors. It delivers an initial crunch from a golden-brown, battered white fish followed by tender, flaky meat seasoned with earthy spices. This is perfectly offset by a crisp, tangy cabbage/lettuce slaw and a rich, creamy, citrusy lime crema or chipotle sauce. The churros can be described as warm, crispy on the outside, and incredibly soft on the inside. They feature a generous, gooey caramel (dulce de leche) filling and are heavily dusted with sweet cinnamon sugar. Every order has an option with a side of mini Nutella for dipping. The fast-casual, dine-in setting can be described as energetic and bustling, with helpful staff available for recommendations. Delivery orders placed via third-party apps have some issues which may include cold food, long wait times, or missing items. Our spicy margaritas were perfect too! The service was on point - friendly, professional and efficient. Nearly every table was taken with many people at the bar - which provided a lively atmosphere. The staff are very friendly but a bit scattered. It's not enough to be completely bothered by it, just to make note. They seemed to be unfocused. We even ordered Jarritos and had to remind them during our meal. Appetizers: We ordered guacamole since they make it to order and it was soooo good. Probably the best part of the meal. The chips and salsa that they give for the table were pretty good too. LOVE the smokiness of the salsa. My date ordered three separate tacos: fish, al pastor and I think chorizo. He said they were okay, nothing that really stood out to him but he did finish it. They're filling though so three was a good amount for him and he can eat up to 5 sometimes if the tacos are really good. I ordered Mole. Mole is a very difficult dish to get down. I've had really really good mole that's been stewed for hours, close to half a day. I even have the thick paste concentrate that friends have given me from Mexico as gifts cause I love Mole so much. Usually, the sauce is close to a gravy consistency, it's smokey from the chiles, not a strong heat, a hint of sweet from the chocolate, savory etc. The chicken should also be to a point where it's fork tender, you do not need much to take the meat off the bone. Tepache's mole was alright. The sauce was a little thinned out, leaned salty and made it hard for the other flavors to come through. The dish was also supposed to come with tortillas and I didn't realize till I put it in a to-go box that I wasn't given them. Twenty-five dollars for mole is a steal because it is a difficult and time consuming thing to make, but only if it's REALLY GOOD. And this one was just okay. Overall though I still want to come back and try out other menu items. I wouldn't suggest the Mole, but I am curious about other things.
