Brisket street tacos were $18 and were not lean at all. Charged us $4.50 for our kids to share an adult nacho plate which was a pretty small plate. My husband loved the tacos but we won't be back. Hard times to be spending $70 on three plates and two sodas. read more

Have you ever had a bad dream that you just couldn't escape? Have you ever been somewhere so terrible that you just start laughing? Have you had an experience that was so ridiculous that you don't think people will believe you? Well all this was my experience at Taqueria Los Juanes. Walking out the door, I wasn't real sure of what had just happened. We were driving through Comanche on our way to San Saba and used our good'ol Yelp app to find us some delicious Mexican food in this quaint little town. Los Juanes popped up and off we went. Pulling into the parking lot we imagined that we were in store for some authentic Mexican fare, that everyone is going to be warm and gracious, and we would probably get some delectable food at a great price. Walking in the door, the first thing we noticed was that it was a little warm. Maybe it was bc we just opened the door and it was a little warm outside. So we decided to continue in, but we were soon to find it was not bc we just opened the door. We were 'greeted' by an abrupt woman, possibly the owner or family member of the owner and she took us to a table. We always drink water at restaurants so this was what we did. No mention that she was going to charge us $1.00 for every water that ordered. By the way, unsweet tea was like $1.25, but if you wanted sweet tea it was $1.80. A soda cam in a can for $1.50 with no refills. So began our journey through the penniest-pinching establishment in Texas! Before long an order of chips and salsa came to our table. They were decent and at least homemade. Later we were to find out that they were $2.50 even though we didn't order them. Are you really forced to pay for chips that you didn't order? Looking through the menu we discovered some things like if you want to share a plate they are going to charge you $1. If you don't want onions on something they are going to charge you $1 to not put them on your meal. These are only the insane add-ons that I can remember, but there were more. We ordered some guacamole tostadas and I got a side of rice. The rice was $2.50 so I was expecting a pretty generous portion of rice, but no, maybe 4 spoonfuls and it wasn't very good. the guacamole tostadas was good, but also way over priced. So for 4 tostadas, a side of rice, chips that we didn't order and 1 drink we paid over $20. By the way, they only accept cash. Before we left we happened to notice that the air conditioning was set on 83 degrees. Are you serious? 83 degrees in a restaurant? We also had a really bizarre incident happen with another customer but that wasn't the restaurants fault. Was just extremely awkward and unforgettable. Walking out the door I remember saying "What in the world just happened!" Short story long, if in Comanche maybe try one of the other local restaurants. I know we will. read more

We stopped by and we were not disappointed. The waitress Kesha was so kind and quick! I saw other negative reviews on here and I couldn't disagree more with those on service or food. Passed by this place on several trips through Comanche. Decided to stop by and try it out. Sign says steaks and BBQ but did not see on menu. It was lunch so maybe only have for supper. Wife had the cheese enchiladas and I had the chicken enchiladas with the green sauce. Meals came beans and rice. The salsa was average as were the meals. Not a bad place to eat just nothing extra special about it. Will stop by next time when know they have steaks and BBQ. Will follow up after that visit and let y'all know how it was. Server talking on her phone as she threw some menus at us without a greeting. Brought our drinks then raised her voice when I suggested something slightly off menu. (carne guisada taco) Argued with me then slammed her order pad down and shouted "I guess I'm going to have to call you back" to her phone and stomped off, presumably to check with the Mexican Food Gods to verify my position that there was in fact a difference between a taco and a burrito, and that if, as she feared, placing a simple slice of brisket and some avacado on a flour tortilla might indeed reverse the rotation of the earth. We'd had enough and tossed a fiver on the table to cover our untouched drinks, got up and left. Perhaps the worst example of hospitality in all my years of eating out, so, thank you for that? Prices also seemed out of line with the other bazillion Mexican foods in the area. ($15 carne guisada lunch plate? $7 burrito?) As for attaching a photo, I wish I had one of the looks on our faces as we left. Keep driving, is my advice. read more

What a delicious breakfast! Great way to start the day, with yummy migas, incredible tortillas, excellent salsa, delicious agua frescas and really excellent service. Potatoes are French fries, but they hit the spot. My family came looking for something real and food made with love, and this place perfectly fit that description. Our wonderful waitress was welcoming and solicitous. Highly recommend for folks who are looking for simply good food in a down home atmosphere. They do take cash and checks only. Awful service. The moment we sat down, the rude waitress (the female owner perhaps) came over and announced "WE HAVE NO FAJITAS. WE ARE OUT OF FAJITAS. NONE, NO FAJITAS OF ANY KIND." And her rudeness continued from there. We were a party of two. A party of 4 came in 5 or more minutes after us and she placed their order first. The whole evening was unpleasant from her initial "greeting". If you want Mexican food in the area, continue to Goldthwaite. The service is friendly and prompt. read more

Left the deer lease in Mullin on a cold, drizzly morning. I had driven by Juans multiple times and never stopped, but today I decided I would stop in for a little breakfast, maybe a breakfast burrito or three. There's something comforting about black coffee and chips and salsa on a cold wet morning. I went with the migas and was not disappointed. I actually didn't want to leave as I wanted to try other options on the menu. The spicy salsa and jalapenos with the crisp fried potatoes and migas hit the spot. The food was hot and fresh and the folks were nice as well. I will be back for sure on my next trip down to Mullin. read more

Authentic Mexican food? I don't think so. Stopped in there yesterday morning 2 potato an egg taco simple enough right ( $5.00). Had them to go when I made it to DeLeon, Tx ( 15 miles away) my mother an I sat down to visit an she enjoy some tacos. The egg was under cooked, the potatoes were strips like an attempt to make home fries an seemed over greasy, Soggy and placed over the uncooked egg. Nope never again mind you I drive through Comanche about out 2/3 time a month in the last two years. 1st time / last time stopping at this location. I'm wondering if I came on a horrible day because of some of the 5 star reviews? No I don't think so. I'm. Not super friendly but respectful an kind an have the decency to say good morning etc.. even in 2017 to anyone but I walked in two girls that seemed like employees eating at different tables. I have had pleasant encounters with other members of the Los Juanes staff, while they were serving tacos at The Stone Eagle, possibly the owners. However my family recently had an incredibly uncomfortable experience at the restaurant, due to a rude, innapropriate waitress. My mother took our children to eat at Los Juanes, and the waitress Kesha lamented to our 7 and 9 year old children, over how horrible their names were. My mother was mortified, and our children were speechless. My mother tried to casually redirect the conversation, to no avail. She was grateful when a friend of Kesha's walked in, and Kesha was diverted from her rant. You are entitled to your opinion, but may want to avoid belittling other people's children, it's not good for business. Kesha has very poor customer relations skills, and lacks basic social manners. I believe she is related to the owners, and is likely not going anywhere, but would be more useful in an area that is not customer service related. This was my mother's first impression of Los Juanes, and while she said she enjoyed the homemade tortillas, unfortunately the waitress made it a very awkward, unpleasant experience, and as a result, my folks won't be returning. read more
