We were passing through on our road trip home and did our trusty "Yelping" and found this little gem. Few things to note: 1: if you stop here on Sunday you better get here before noon. We thankfully got in around 11:45 and by noon the place was PACKED. People had to leave it was so full of local church folk. 2: the timing of food here is a-typical but also fantastic. As in- your food comes out fresh!! But that also means other members of your party may have to wait 5-10 min before theirs is up. Just enjoy the company and your piping hot food. I prefer that over it being left in a warmer for God knows how long. 3: in terms of overall atmosphere- the service is so nice. Don't come here looking for a Michelin Star experience- but if you're looking for a welcoming environment, delicious hot food, and a salsa bar with a variety of options- this is your place. My bestie and I meet once a month for lunch since we have about four hours between us. I found this spot about two years ago. It's our favorite spot to meet thus far. The food is plenty and delicious. The service has always been great. And they are always updating (reinvesting) in the dining area to make it even more authentic. The location is perfect us. Stopped here after cruising the action-packed down town hustle and bustle of Metter! Food was hot, fast, and fresh. This place has as self-service SALSA BAR that was a life changing experience. They've also got a full bar so I can imagine this place is jumping at night. read more

Chile rellenos we're some of the best I have ever had ! Salsa bar a huge plus although Broken chips from bottom of batch not so much a hit and server was definitely inexperienced but there were other co workers who at least were observant so don't let this review steer you from taking this place in ... Full bar and the food is spot on from this retired Food and beverage manager of 30 plus years in the hospitality biz! As the locals say "everything is better in Metter" and Taqueria El Sol is no exception. Best street tacos I've ever had and I've had my share. The barbacoa was off the charts amazing, the peaxado was solid; and the carnitas was top notch. They have horchata- my favorite drink in the world and they give it you in a 32 oz huge mug filled with ice. Who could ask for more. Also: they have a fresh salsa bar in the back with a dozen home made salsas- absolutely epicurean! Will definitely be coming back, love this place. If you're ever coming to and from Savannah on I-16 take a detour and have some of the best Mexican food outside of Mexico. read more

This is a great restaurant. I was truly amazed to find a really excellent Mexican restaurant in Georgia. Who would have thought? If you like Mexican food, this is the place to go. Good new spot for Metter with great food and good prices. Some dishes are pretty authentic but then they still have some Tex mex classics to make everyone happy. I tore down their street food menu and ordered half of it the first round. All was good especially the Gordita. Tamales weren't my favorite though. Some of the Tex max classics that our group got were also really good and portions were humongous. Definitely a good spot to fill up and take some home. They also have a large salsa bar with tons of authentic favorites and even some fresh peppers and radishes. Not sure if Metter needed a New Mexican restaurant but not complaining yet read more

If you want authentic true Mexican street tacos, this is your place. If you are driving, just make the extra mile into downtown from. I-16. Totally worth it and the salsa bar is amazing! The menu is more authentic and not your typical Americanized style of Mexican food. Definitely a gem if your a local foodie! Quality is great. Portions are perfect. Fresh taste. Visited twice, and had awful experiences with the waitresses. Very racist and not friendly in terms of service. They also served one of the dishes on a broken plate, replaced after complaints. The food was good but will Never visit again! read more

What a great little place to eat downtown! I am glad we drove into town, from the Interstate for lunch. The servers are friendly and fast. When they say the salsa on the right side is hot you better believe them! The chips were hot and fresh. I had the Picaditas, with the sliced steak, and I liked it. The drive from Statesboro to Metter was worth it! We were greeted by a friendly staff and an amazing aroma of Mexican fare. Nearly everything on the menu called to us, but I finally decided on the fajitas del sol, and my husband ordered the Texas rice. The restaurant is clean with cute decor, and the salsa bar was great. Our food arrived quickly, and was every bit as amazing as it looked and smelled. Loved the vegetables! We both needed a box for leftovers. This was an unexpected delicious find in the completely charming downtown of Metters! The food was different than a typical Mexican restaurant. They added their own fresh take o and had many menu items I've never seen before. They also had a very refreshing fresh made cucumber drink! Super cute and very clean.
