I've been coming here for 10+ years for their handmade tortillas and fresh barbacoa tacos. They also have a killer creamy green sauce that ties everything together perfectly. I always try to switch up the protein but I can't. I like what I like, and the barbacoa is the reason I keep coming back. They offer plenty of other authentic Mexican plates as well, so there's something for everyone. Strike one the guacamole was squashed avocado, and unflavorful didn't have any lime onion, cilantro tomato everything I needed to make a guacamole Strike two the torta that I ordered was very much bland. The steak had no marination and no seasoning just like you took a steak from the cold fridge still leaking blood and just putting in a pan and cooking it and then bringing it out to us to somehow enjoy that shit was rubbery as hell my jaw still hurts from eating it I I got a to go box and as I was sitting in my car, I wanted to get a second opinion with my wife and she tasted it and was like there is no flavor this taste like grease even tasted the meat again, and I threw up in the parking lot Strike three we thought the beans in the torta would be the saving grace. I adore this place and frequent it at least once a month if not more. The space is very cute and cozy, giving a very inviting feel. Everything on the menu is good, yes everything. I dare you to find one thing that sucks. You wont. I love the tacos, quesadilla, burritos. Their guac is simple yet delicious. The cheese sauce is so good. They have a green hot sauce that is my favorite but beware she is proper SPICY. The only critique I would have is that there seems to be a difference between the salsa that you get in the store versus to go? The in store one is better. But that is absolutely nit picky and shouldn't be a deterrent to go. read more

Stopped here as we were passing through. Reviews were good, so thought we'd give a chance. To be brief, waited 50 minutes for 3 tacos. Carne asada was dry, no flavor. Adobada and chorizo were decent. Agua frescas are not made fresh. Tortillas were handmade, but felt more like pita bread than tortillas. If you haven't had real authentic Mexican food, you might enjoy this. read more

First of all, I want to say this: due to COVID restrictions, our little hometown high school (Woodford County High School) was looking to find a cool outdoor venue for our students to hold their prom. Several local businesses were unable to do the math indicating that the money we were paying them would more than make up for any lost revenue from walk-in customers who may want to buy ice cream or pizza. I mean, I guess they aren't very good at math, but we were going to pay for $750 worth of ice cream. they must do a big business over there. Anyway, we settled on Thoroughbred Square as our location and immediately Taqueria Becerra was all in! They were so excited for us to have prom near their restaurant and instantly went into a partnership with us to make an amazing night. They set up tables outside and created a great little menu for the kids to choose from. We paid them for every senior to have tacos, chips, salsa and drinks. They were so easy to work with and made sure that everyone had a special night. I looked forward to tacos all night - I love tacos! WHo doesn't?! ANyway, on top of it all, these were possibly the best tacos I have ever had. They recommended that I try the marinated pork tacos - OMG so yummy! They came with homemade corn tortillas, fresh lime, cilantro and white onions. (You can also have jalapenos and hot sauce - I might next time, but...prom) The marinated pork was DELISHH! It was very seasoned but not spicy. I absolutely loved them. Mama made sure we chaperones had a little "to go" baggy to take home, so I got to have more tacos for breakfast! yay me! Hard to get my family to venture out and try a new place, especially something outside the "burger/pizza realm." We are all glad we tried this place. My wife ordered 2 chicken and 1 beef taco with rice and beans. My son got the kids taco with rice and beans. They loved their meals. I had the chile relleno, and it was the best I've ever had by far. Chips and salsa were good. Salsa was chunky but not very flavorful. They provide plenty of sauces to spice things up if you want. (I'm told by others that this is traditional true Mexican restaurant style.) I really liked that option. I consider myself a mexican food eating professional. I grew up in New Mexico and went to college in the Hatch Valley in NM where the best green chile in the country is produced. I ate Mexican food probably 3 times a week for 40+ years. In New Mexico all the Mexican restaurants are good. This restaurant was not good in any way. The salsa was bland....no seasoning. The chips were cold as opposed to normally being hot. I had 3 tacos, 2 steak and 1 chicken. I'm used to corn tortillas being fried to just short of crisp. These were very slightly fried more to the raw side.....and the flavor comes from frying the tortillas.....raw is just massa. The ingredients were bland. Wife had chicken nachos. Chicken/cheese. By far our favorite Mexican restaurant! They have amazing tamales and the service is great. We eat here almost weekly.

Just a small notch above typical Mexican restaurants and very expensive. Beans were like water, rice plain, food just average. Sauces watery and very bland. iced tea tasted like water. Horchata was the one thing that was made very well. Lunch for four with one entree each and only a couple beverages total was about $110. They add the tip to the total themselves. Building is a garage or warehouse and service was very average - dropped off the food but never came back to check if we needed anything else. read more

Omg.... this place was so good. On our way home to Tennessee from a family reunion in Ohio and stumbled on to this little hole in the wall. Started with chips and awesome chunky salsa. I had the pork in spicy green sauce, rice and beans with homemade corn tortillas. Sooooo good. My hubby got a wet green spicy carnitas buritto filled with meat, rice, beans, lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese and cilantro. He said it was very tasty even if the spiciness made him red and made him sweat. The waitress told us she warned us it would be spicy. Haha. She was very sweet. Best valentine's dinner with the hubby. The carne asada tacos are the bomb. The mamasita makes her own tortillas in the back and they are so good. moist and fresh yet still strong enough to hold without breaking. Unlike most retaautants that double up their tortillas and you end up with more tortilla per meat ratio. They put a lot of carne with a side of cilantro, limes and onions. All for 1.75 each. I get full on 2, 3 if I'm super hungry. Btw a good sign of authentic Mexican food is how good their salsa. It is hot but not over the top and fresh. We moved to Versailles in October, and of the 3 total Mexican restaurants, this is the 3rd to try. The others had positives and negatives, but neither was anything to write home about. I was encouraged by the reviews on here, so I took my wife there tonight. Total disappointment for me. She said the Chile Relleno was good. Impressions: The floor was sticky. The place was completely empty, and 2 tables sat unbussed the entire time we were there...ours is likely still covered with dirty dishes to make the tally 3 unbussed tables. The chips and salsa arrived, and the chips were FAR from homemade. Stale and bland. The salsa was chunky, as a previous review stated, but I can't imagine what universe it could be considered "spicy", as the same review stated. The menu had some unique choices on it, including a good huevos selection, but I went with the mainstay of enchiladas. As I said above, my wife had the relleno. The rice seemed freshly made, but the beans were straight out of a can, and runny. Add to that, a light dusting of Parmesan (which made it smell like feet), and the beans were inedible. The beef chunks in the enchiladas were charred to the consistency of rubber. My jaw is still sore from chewing. We would have stayed for dessert, which would have been Flan for us, but our appetites were skewered by that point, so we departed with our $27 bill for 2 entrees, a beer, and an iced tea.
