This place is great! I nice little gem hiding in the corner of a strip mall. A group of us came here for Happy Hour one day and were pleasantly surprised! They have really good cocktails, an amazing beer selection, and the food is grub!! We just had a bunch of appetizers, but they were all really good!! Not the greatest. After hearing this place was good we decided to give it a try. Perhaps it was crowded, but service wasn't too great. Water was served in a messed up cup and you can smell the cleaning product they use as u drink from the cup. My drink (Long Island) was very weak. I should've ordered regular tea. First off, I rarely and hate having to do negative reviews. I try my best to be objective, or at least state what may sway me to give a certain rating. So here it is. I should add, regardless of my opinions or any Yelper's review, I encourage any reader and potential customer to try a business at least once before making a judgement. So even though my experience has been bad, I will not say "stay away." Please do give them a chance, and I hope your experience is more positive than mine. So tonight, was my first visit to Taps and Apps, and unfortunately, my last for now. I should also note, this review does not relate to their variety and quality of drinks, but more so the service I received tonight. Tonight, my friend and I decided to hangout out and chose this new place. When we came in, we noticed it was very busy and pretty full. We were lucky to catch a group leaving and the waitress let us take the table. We sat and looked through the menu. I was amazed on the assortment of alcoholic beverages. Their food items looked good as well. Since we both drove, he just got a beer and I a cocktail. So when the waitress took our orders, the drinks came out fast, around 5 minutes. However, our food took quite a bit of time. My friend ordered the Irish Nachos, and I ordered the Scotch Egg and Escargot. Now initially, we were having a good time. But it took about half an hour for his nachos, then another 15 minutes for my egg, so about 45 minutes total. We kept asking about our orders, and she kept saying it's on the way. However, I noticed people coming in after us receiving their orders within a reasonable amount of time. My patience began to eat up. So I asked again and I clocked it at about an hour before I got my snails. By then, my drink was gone. So before my last item (the snails) came in, I finished my cocktail (Mauka Breeze?) and asked for water, and so did my friend. I see her walking around with a pitcher of water, but doesn't come back to us until about 5 minutes. But she only brings water for me. So we try to catch her again for my friend's water and then I asked about my snails. He eventually, gets his water. I continue waiting. My item finally comes, so it took about an hour to make and 2 minutes to eat (I shared with my friend.) So overall, I was quite frustrated with the service. When the waitress returned, I asked for our tab, but I couldn't settle and requested a discount for what I experienced tonight. She tells us that this place does it "appetizer style" and things are made as they go. I'm thinking, normal places punch out appetizers within 15 minutes, so a place that "specializes" in apps should be able to do a similar turnaround time. Not to mention, that we made the whole order at the same time, yet each part took a substantial amount of time to come to us. I was persistent, and she brought her manager. The manager apologized and said the same thing the waitress said, but I mentioned how odd that it took a whole hour for my last item, and how I noticed other customers received their orders in a reasonable time. She said she will check the order tickets. In my mind, I'm thinking how ridiculous that my friend and I had to wait further in regards to their quality of service. The manager returns, and apologizes saying that the server made an error and put in the order later. Now, I think it's pretty messed up to just throw your server under the bus like that. But in any case, she puts the snails off our tab, so we just needed to pay for the other items. I get the tab, which is about $39. I didn't feel like waiting another 15 minutes for them to process our tab, so I put cash in the tab and walked over to the waitress and handed it to her showing my money. I apologized, trying to not sound too irritated and said we had to go. However, for a $39 bill, and poor quality of service, out of courtesy, I left an extra $4 as a tip. When I first saw pictures of this place, I was excited and been looking for an excuse to go. Now, I'm not interested. Still frustrated, I drove over to Burger King for a Whopper. So that's my story, try them out and I wish you the best. Hopefully, I'll eventually calm down about this place, and will try to visit again. read more

Decided to try this place after it has been open for a little while. Didn't want to go while the crowds were still there. My first experience there, I sat down at the main bar. One would think that sitting at the main bar, you'd probably get pretty good service. Wrong. As I sat down I made eye contact with the bartender and I said hi. She just looked away and kept doing whatever she was doing. Then I actually took my seat and then as she came around, I said hi again. She didn't say a word to me even though she made eye contact with me. There were at least 3 bartenders behind the bar and it was about 5 mins of sitting before my friend and I were even greeted. How ridiculous is that?! As the day went on, the service was only getting worse. We were never asked if we wanted anything to eat even though it was obvious when my friend and I were looking at the menu. The food took a long time to come out. Actually, the food is kind of funny. Please go to this place just to see the food. They serve weird food choices on cutting boards to you and they try so hard to make it look fancy. This is a bar. Not a fancy restaurant but I guess the owner is confused. I recommend at least going to church that out. It made my friend and I laugh. Then when it was time to get the bill, that took extremely long! The place is lacking normal business standards of customer service. My second experience was even worse. I don't even feel like wasting my time. Honestly, I think this place will be gone relatively quickly. It seems the owner doesn't take responsibility of his staff and making adjustments from what reviews are saying. Dude needs to look at yelp and FB. So many complaints. When you see him in the bar, he's not even friendly. Come on man. It's 2015. At least try. Lol read more

Service was poor and they were out of a lot of food menu items. Our food took forever to come out and they sent 2 of our orders to tables that came in and ordered after us. The waitress kept saying I'll check on it but it didn't rush out our order. After an hour, one order finally came out, which was the crab melt. It was good but the wait was not worth it. Our 2nd appetizer, the T&A Burger still didn't come out. Manager aplogized and took it off our bill and said they were making us one. It took another hour to finally get the burger. When we finally got our bill, there were several items on it that we didn't even order so we had to wait for them to fix our bill. The atmosphere is nice, good selection of beers and drinks, but they really need to work on their service. I hope they can work out these kinks soon. read more

Great place for a large tap selection and some good food. The menu might be a little on the pricy side for bar food, but the quality of food coming out of the kitchen is surprisingly a step beyond traditional bar fare. If you want proof, order their $10 bar burger, consisting of ground short rib and NY strip, and tell me that you could even make that home for such prices. read more

Came here for a going away party and had a great time. The place is loud, people happily singing thier heart away while everyone joins in! That said, the 3 star rating reflects the parking, understaffed servers and quality of the food. Seriously parking in that whole complex is ridiculous! And the drivers are ruthless. I traveled from the westside and it was my first time here so that left a pretty negative first impression. There was so many people at this place on a Thursday night, I'm afraid what a Friday night might look like. Drinks and food took fORevERrrr. Then when i finally got my frozen Li Hing Margarita, the guy who brought it out said, "We can't do this all night, this was hard to make." Well, why in the world did the server suggest it? If that wasn't bad enough, the drink was bad. I had several of my friends taste it and they came to the same consensus. We all agreed that the mixed drinks were all pretty bad. Beers were good, especially one called Panty Peeler- definately a conversation piece. Soooooo, bartender needs some work!!! I ordered the fried calamari which looked and tasted like it was in the fryer about 30 seconds too long. The fried chicken wings was not good either. Mushy on the inside in a very light crisp in sweet chili sauce. I love chicken wings but this was kinda gross. Thank goodness it was all from the happy hour menu so it wasnt too expensive. So, other than the 3 things: the parking, being understaffed, and the poor quality of the food, it was definately a place where shenanigans can happen. Writing this review after just one visit. We saw some of the mixed reviews in advance of this visit, and we can see where they're coming from. This is a bar first, kitchen second; fantastic beer selection and a respectable bar menu. Our server was funny and friendly, and was covering a lot of tables. If you come to a place like this not expecting speedy service, you'll be a lot happier. We had the Cobb salad and buffalo wings, both truly excellent. If we had a different server or visited on an other-than-Tuesday, I can see how this might be a frustrating experience. Parking is crazy during peak hours; there's a good chance you'll be parked on the other side of the lot. read more

Came here quite a few times. Great selection of beer. Somewhat small food menu. Irish nachos and the Scotch egg were incredible and unique and was the only place on the island to find them. Had to try the new spot in Mililani Mauka!! I heard that the pupus was expensive, and I must say....it's pretty damn expensive for the portion they give. We ordered a basket of garlic bread and all we get is 2 pieces, and mind you its $8.00 for it!! We also ordered the spinach artichoke dip and they didn't give us enough bread with it, we had to order more and they had to charge us for it. Seriously not worth it!!! Our first time there was last night. My bf ordered the sampler: Four 4 ounce samples of your choosing from their 36 beers on tap for $16). Pretty pricey, but he really wanted to try something different. Our server (Wabe it said on the receipt) was excellent. He gave recommendations and even offered small tastes of other beers on the menu so we wouldn't be ordering large glasses of something we didn't want. He was knowledgeable about the beers and the way they tasted. I had the Mililani Melon cocktail. It was delicious but didn't have much alcohol in it because I didn't feel anything. We ordered small French fries which were good. Similarly seasoned to curly fries. They were thick cut, Crispy on the outside, and soft and hot on the inside. Perfect. We never felt ignored by the staff because they were pretty attentive. It was pretty empty when we got there, but the later it got more people showed up. Not crowded but not noisy. Just as we were leaving the live music started. We would've stayed longer but we had to be somewhere. All in all, I liked the feel and service of this place. But it is a little expensive so I won't me making weekly visit, but I would come back. read more

My husband and I finally had some time to ourselves and decided to try T&A for lunch. I am soo happy we did!! Our server was Jordan. He was awesome. We ordered the Avocado Crab Bomb for our appetizer and split the T&A Burger along with the Mushroom Brie Flatbread. Everything was amazing!! The T&A burger was the best burger we've ate in awhile. Argghhh. This place has really made me go to war with myself...and even as I type this, Im still not so sure. I originally wanted to give this place 3 stars, to be a little lenient since they had just opened in April. I really just wanted to write everything off as growing pains and roll their rating over just a teensy bit as I normally do...but I just cant bring myself to do it. I need to tell the world that this place really does deserve 2 stars. A friend suggested this place for a group dinner and I immediately looked it up on yelp and got excited since I had this place bookmarked. ^_^ Its located in Mililani; I believe you need to take the Mililani Mauka exit when heading west on the Freeway. It will be in that little shopping center where theres McDonalds. I had seen their board of specials for the night that listed a Watermelon drink (i dont remember the name :c), which had sounded delicious; so when the waitress came to take our drink order I immediately ordered that. Well, I tried to...Apparently they had run out of the drink. :( Bummer. So I ordered a Mililani Melon, which came in a cute mason jar and was pretty good ($8). Oh and its important to note that we (the people and I at our table) were the first ones to arrive. During this time, we ordered a couple of items while we waited. My friend had tried ordering meatloaf, which was one of their specials that she had seen on the outside sign. However, the waitress had informed us that they had also run out of the meatloaf and that she would need to erase that whole board -___- (we later checked the sign; but only the drink special was erased, not the meatloaf :T). Then we added on two more orders of steak for our table. Our friends later trickled in and began ordering more items. I think that our orders of the pupu steak were accidentally given to our friends, since two steaks were given to them first even though we had ordered before they had came :T we had asked the waitress about why they got their steak first, but she said that she knew "which table ordered what". *shrugs* So we just kept waiting. In the mean time, we had gotten our edamame and Crab melt. Unfortunately, the edamame was a little over done: it was mushy :( But the seasoning was good. I really liked the crab melt; it was crispy Parmesan toast with some crab meat and melted cheese. It was really good; except there were only 4 slices for $14 D: Our other friends kept getting their items, while we patiently waited for our pupu steaks. About 45 minutes later, my friend (on our table) finally gets her steak. We ask about our order of Pupu steak again but she seems confused; then realizes that it must have gotten mixed up with one of our other friend's orders (Like we had asked about beforeT_T) So after about an hour total of waiting, we finally get our Pupu steak. My boyfriend really seemed to like the steak, but I think it could have been seasoned a bit better. As Chef Robert would say on Restaurant Impossible: "Salt! Pepper!" hehe. The steak was cooked perfectly besides that though. The mushrooms were pretty yummy as well. As for my T&A burger...it was a disappointment. :( The patty was pretty juicy but like the steak, it didnt have much taste to it. The only thing I could really taste was the aoili, which had a small kick to it...which was more like a poke to the arm. The fries that it came with were the thicker type of fries, but stayed pretty crispy throughout the time there. It was alright, but nothing to get too crazy about. So just a breakdown: Atmosphere: The atmosphere of this place is cool; I really liked it. The decor was nice, and fits the restaurants name perfectly. Its a little modern with a laid back kind of feel. It can get quite loud inside, what with people conversing over drinks and some television screens by the bar. The outside deck looked really pretty in the evening with some hanging lights. Maybe if it had been a little cooler outside, we would have considered sitting out there. But with this summer heat these days, we just wanted to play it safe -___- Food: Was alright, but there were a few items (such as the steak and burger) that needed to be better seasoned. They were cooked good, but there was no taste. The other items such as the crab melt were really good. However, the food is quite expensive. When ordering the burger, the waitress had asked if I wanted to add on some fries (who doesnt want fries with their burger!?) so of course I opted for it, knowing that there would be some sort of additional fee. When I had gotten our bill, I was surprised to see that it was an additional $7! 0_0 This is because when you add on some fries, its actually a regular order of fries 0.0 I wish I had known, because I didnt even end up eating most of it. Service: Somewhat lacking. First waitress seemed unhappy, but the other was nice. Our orders were mixed up and we waited quite a while for it. Visited this establishment for the first time last night. Came in and the place was packed so we decided to take our party of 6 outside to the patio area. After waiting about five minutes, a waitress took our order and left. She was nice enough and read my short order back to me in a pleasant manner. I ordered a lemonade, garlic bread, and french fries just as a starter. I was going to order other items after my party decided what they wanted, that way we could share. I never got around to ordered more items for quite a few reasons. The first reason is definitely the food. My lemonade tasted a little...off. I couldn't properly identify it last night but I would compare the taste to dish rag water. It left your mouth feeling chalky and ultimately, I ended up not drinking a little over two sips of the entire glass. The fries were nice. A friend who came earlier in the day said my fries looked nothing like his. He told me that his were overcooked and unseasoned. Mine were alright though and everyone munched away contentedly on them. The garlic bread definitely had me a little confused. Everything on the menu seems slightly pricey but this item definitely stood out. The dish came out as a two halves of a bread buttered and toasted. I guess it just wasn't what I expected. It was quite small for its price and wasn't even cut up so my party had to pass it around and rip off pieces. It was more than a little disappointing to say the least. The second reason would have to be the service. While the girls were nice and everything, we didn't have a single person come back to check on us until we flagged down a check. The food was brought to us without napkins, no one came to check if our food was alright, and most importantly no one came to check if we were just doing well overall. At one point a bird pooped on a person in my party's sleeve. Usually this would be no issue because we decided to sit outside, however, because we had no napkins, what was she expected to wipe it off with? Overall, we were not impressed and decided instead to make the drive down to Waipio and visit Big City Diner. Four of my party actually went into sit at the bar in Nancy's. It should be called Ass Pro Pub - cannot say anything positive about this place. We have gone there twice. Not kid friendly, and the excessively loud gangster rap is too much to handle. The only item available from the brunch menu for our child was a yogurt, fruit muesli something or other, still not sure, served with a very large knife - he is a 5 year old, not a butcher. The clueless waitress did not understand him when he said " I do not play with knives". My wife's French fries were as cold as our son's yogurt. My "burger, but not really a burger". was ordered medium but served bloody raw. There was so much blood the bread fell apart. Several people walked in, and walked right out due to the lack of regard of the wait staff. Never returning. read more

We visited this place last saturday with great anticipation and was initially met with great disappointment. We found a table right away, but it wasn't wiped and bits of food lay everywhere. After 12 minutes, the waiter finally came, wiped the table and then left without a greeting nor did he take our orders. My bro-in-law and wife came, waited another 5 minutes or so, until the waiter returned with menus. Again, no greeting, first timers?, did not explain the menu or taps. So we all ordered Flights, a 4 glass beer sampler, which you choose of the 34 taps. It took forever for our drinks to come, why is that? When it finally came, we told the waiter we wanted to order some apps. Got the artichoke dip, pupu steak, basket of fries, edamame and pork belly. The artichoke dip was good, but very limited chips were given. The pupu steak? For $16, one strip cut into 8 pieces? The fries were very good for $7. Edamame not much for the price. The pork belly? $18 for two strips, are you kidding? Funny thing is the food came faster to our table than the drinks did!!! Best advice, go early on the weekends was very crowded at 5:15pm!! Don't plan on getting filled up with food; Very Pricey and not much on the plate. You can always go McD's or Wing Stop next door. But I hope they improve because Mililani Mauka needs a place like this and I think the people will support this place. With football season just around the corner, T&A better get a better grip on customer service or may lose some supporters. read more

Went on a Sunday around 12:00pm. Waitress was nice and very attentive. Food was good , especially the spicy teriyaki wings. The Moscow Mule was good but they make you give your credit card because people have bee stealing the copper mugs they're served in. Come on people, buy your own damn mugs. So shame. The outside seating is nice and you can still hear and see the games but without the annoying crowds and noise. Recommend this place if you want a chill spot to hang out and watch the football game with your friends. read more

I give it a 2 stars just cause it's convenient for me since I live in mililani, the food is good even if I've only tried the garlic wings & the margarita pizza & my friends have a good time there. Drinks are meh! I don't drink beer, just found my way into finding something closest to a red bull vodka although they don't have red bull. So last night was my second night there for trivia Tuesday. I left there pretty upset! There were four of us & I was not drunk, had a nice buzz. I specifically told our server to divide our check into 4's which I already had it calculated plus tip & she came back with our receipts to sign with $5 added on to it! She had the nerve to add $5 more to her own tip! My friends were over it already & just wanted to head to the next bar so we left it. Not sure if I'll be going back anytime soon! read more

I really wanted to like this place.... I really love the concept. But service was slow and I feel like I could cook better for for myself at home than what I received. The crab dip was very running and reminds me of something you would get at a grocery store just heated and put on a different plate. We also tried the steak which didn't have a lot of the fat rendered. The cook, temperature wise, was too my liking but the fat made it so I had to cut around the parts I wanted to eat. On top of that it tasted like someone just jumped dried seasoning on top at the end so it just wasn't very tasting. I'll be honest, there are few times in my life where I would say I would pass on steak if offered... This may be the first time, but I would pass if they offered me the steak again. I would rather save my stomach and cook my own steak at home which would be way tastier. Now I LOVE beer and every time I visit friends in LA we make it a point to go to a brewery and do some beer tasting. On a positive note they did have a good selection of beers. I was excited about this. The sucky part was that my gf and I sat in a fairly empty (maybe 6 people at the bar and three other parties dining) bar and it still took us about 15 minutes to get our beer flights from the time we ordered it. Next time I'll save the money and just buy beer and steaks and eat at home. read more

On 6/17 at 9pm-9:30pm, My Girlfriend and I had stopped by Taps & Apps after eating at Gyu-Kaku. We sat at the bar and right off the bat the bartender refused to serve us drinks because she said and assumed we were intoxicated. We then asked to speak to a manager and she pointed him out as he was drinking at the bar. He did not asset the situation and I felt that they did not want to serve us just because they were drinking with their friends. I noticed the manager due to the fact we have been there before. We then tried calling later to speak to a manager and they wouldn't give us a name or contact to speak with someone. I felt discriminated against as a customer and felt like they did not want to do their job so that was the reason why I was refused service. So I advise you not to go there unless your an employee because they only serve employees and managers who looked highly intoxicated. I would love for them to review the cameras and tell me why I was refused service??? We will never return and will tell everyone about our horrible experience at Taps n Apps! BTW, 1 star was given because it won't allow me to give 0 stars. read more

1 star because the review needs a rate. So I walked into the resturant and was standing by the door for a table for a while and got no service. I walked over to the bar and informed the bartender that I had a party of 6 and she said I can seat myself. I then asked if I can grab two tables if avaliable and also if they can be rearrange. She agreed therefore I did. Meanwhile, two staff members witnessed the rearrangement of the tables which by the way were near one another and waited till we were done to state we couldn't even sit down. They were very nasty and very rude. Thereafter, we waited forever to get our food and drink. One person in my party got their food when everyone was just about done with their meal. The beer selection is great for Mililani and the French fries (which we did not order) were also good. We ordered the crab melt and lamb scotch egg. The crab melt was cold and didn't have any crab at all. The lamb scotch egg was so gross we spit it out and sent it back. They also were not ready to serve most of the items on the menu.
