There needs to be some change. Used to like this place until today. The employees were rude. The ambiance feels a bit run down too. When ordering a tea that we used to be able to ask to adjust the sweetness on, we're told that it's premixed now? Not great, tried it and it tasted like there's WAY too much sugar mix in there. I usually go here because there isn't really a boba place near my house unless I drive farther away so this place will do. They have super fast service whenever there's no one there but they do take a long time when there's a long line since there would only be like two people behind the counter. Obviously, this wouldn't be comparable to gong cha or higher quality boba places but the milk teas satisfy my needs. It seems like they don't have waffles in stock whenever I get there which is around 4:30pm, which kind of bugs me. Sometimes there would be a list of things out of stock, and I kind of expected them to get their inventory stock together since it is a fairly popular place to go around this area. Side note: they are taking into consideration the affects of straws and our oceans so they don't display the boba straws on the counter. You'll have to ask a staff member for a straw if they forgot to give you one, but it seems like they're pushing for reusable straws which is a plus to me :) read more

This is one of the more cleaner locations of Tap Ex I have been to. The ones in National City, Bonita, and Convoy have sticky tables and floors. Just like Starbucks, this franchise is consistent with their quality. With that being said though, there drinks aren't the best in the boba drink world. My go-to drink, Taro Milk Tea with boba was nice. The boba were not the freshest I have had but decent. I liked how they made my drink with less sugar as I requested. The veggie spring rolls are nice. I can tell they are just the frozen kind that are fried on demand. I didn't mind because it's good and low cost. Sweet potato fries another good side to enjoy with your drink. Customer service was friendly. read more

I think we've found our new go-to boba place! We've been driving about 15 minutes to get it from another place, and we're so happy this is so close by, and the boba and drinks are amazing! Their hours are wrong. THEY CLOSE EARLY. Do not attempt to come here after 10:30pm on a weeknight. Of the 7 times I've been here they were closed early 4 of those. Every other Tap X doesn't have this issue. First time, 2nd time, maybe even the 3rd time I can understand, but now you're losing stars by the day. Don't tout late hours as something that separates you from other establishments when your not going to adhere to them. Heck Chipotle stays open till 10 and yes I've been there well after that. Way in the back and easy to miss they are behind Chipotle which itself is in the Shadow of B&N. That's why I'll describe it "behind" Chipotle. Few parking spaces as most of the nearest are shared handicaps, but most of the usual's and locals use the delivery side area near the dumpsters which I don't mind either. It's as bright and strangely sterile in décor as any other TapX. Inviting, but not comfortable the plastic nature of things don't make me want to spend uncountable hours here the way some people do. Usually there is this hum drone of Asian-esque pop playing in the background, but here it doesn't drown out any of the other guests conversations so it's actually too quiet. I love how some of their milk tea's are more "natural" in color and not so artificially colored. "Honeydew is not green, but kind of a creamy white color", but has all the taste. Boba is their most popular, but offer grass jelly, and a dozen other add on's. The prices are cheap and service is quick. I wish they offered the macha green tea in a latte form versus only in the snow bubble offering. The snacks on deck are always appetizing, and they have Filipino style lumpia, unlike some locations which are more traditional to their Taiwanese ownership roots. Service is excellent and you too should love the fact they offer a daily healthy special like apple green tea so there is definitely a consciousness of health. For those who never drove to much further TapX's this will be a new experience, but to those of us who eagerly anticipated our very own local one it was a bit of a relief. It will take time to establish a stranglehold on the consumers the way the SD locations have. read more

This is your standard TapEx. There's nothing too special about this place but the fact that it is probably one of a handful of places where you can get boba. I feel like the Asian scene isn't as big as Convoy Street so there aren't many choices for boba here in Oceanside. I always get the Thai tea with boba because you can't go wrong with that. The thai tea here is the same as the other TapEx locations. The boba here is also pretty average. I highly recommend you stop by if you are looking for a boba place around here (because this is the only one in the area, I believe). I think Oceanside is becoming more and more diverse so maybe in the future, there will be more Asian eateries! read more

I love a blended boba drink and their snow bubble fits the bill, Thai tea and taro are my faves and I would go every week. Boba is hot sometimes though which I get if it's freshly made but it is a nasty shock with that first sip on a hot day. When I ordered online I could skip the line and it would be perfect but last time I checked they weren't doing that anymore. I feel bad for the one employee (black hair tied back in a bun, l didn't catch his name but if the owner reads this he deserves a raise) he was busting his butt trying to get the drink out in a timely manner with a wait of maybe 10 people standing inside. Finally found a boba spot close to me!!!! I have the admit if it was any closer I would be going all the time. The service is excellent, and the guys that work their are really friendly! The snow bubble is awesome too- the honeydew one (or taro or cantelope) are always my go-to's. Always add boba too! I have also ordered their fried chicken snack thing and it was sooo ridiculously good. My husband is usually picky and he loved it. Only complaint is the drinks are a little pricey and the boba shouldn't cost extra in a snow bubble-- I mean it's called tapioca express still definitely give it a try ! I spent the last 16 years in Los Angeles where there is a boba joint every corner especially in Koreatown. But let's be real for a minute. Tapioca Express is one of the original tapioca franchises in California and possibly the nation. You know their standard drink menu and often times, snack menu. They use flavored syrups and powders, very little fresh fruit unless you want to count the mango jellies. Don't come in with expectations that one franchise is going to have tropical fruit blended cocktails with fresh from the tree yuzus for garnish. Now that I got that out of the way, this establishment serves lumpia. Yes, my friends, lumpia. Granted they're not overflowing with pork but still very tasty and satisfies me enough from driving half an hour to Clairemont Mesa. Everyone has a bad day and these millennials sure aren't going to be perky Starbucks employees because I'm sure they don't get tipped as much. Speaking of which, the owner needs to get onboard with a tip allowable credit card EOS. The cashier certainly deserved it for her willingness to create a yogurt snow bubble. Sadly, it just wasn't that great for me. Generally, I never love chain boba places because their milk teas tend to be powder based, and their boba is subpar. This place fit the bill. I came here at 7pm and tried to order some popcorn chicken. Before I walked in, I saw a customer came out with a bag of popcorn chicken on his hand walking out at the same time, but when I came in to order , they said the kitchen closed, so I asked why they closed the kitchen so early, they said because they were so busy. Made with fresh fruit, tasted amazing! Tapioca wasn't all hard or super mushy either, just perfect. Only complaint I have is customer service. It could use some work. The two employees at the time talked to each other but didn't seem to care much about the customers. Hidden in the plaza in Oside next to barnes and chipotle. I actually found this place accidentally after taking a wrong turn leaving LA fitness. Then I looked it up on yelp and was disappointed by the low ratings. But despite the lackluster stars I went in because I love milk tea I'm not the type of person that drives 30 min for a drink. Interior is typical boba shop, which made it feel like home. They have a large menu but I've only tried the tapioca milk tea. It's on the sweet side but better sweet than bland. Their food menu looked a bit questionable I wouldn't recommend ordering anything other than boba. Prices are low and boba is chewy. Servers are quick and friendly. This has been my go-to boba spot ever since it opened. The convenient location has always been enough for me to look past the subpar customer service and inconsistent drinks. However, I went in on the night of 11/11/22 and the customer service was exceptionally poor. There were no customers when my boyfriend and I walked in, but we were still ignored by the two employees having a conversation behind the counter, one of whom was sitting down and eating Hot Cheetos. As we waited for our drinks to be made, the employee eating Hot Cheetos stood up to help the customer behind us. She licked the red powder off her fingers, touched the tablet screen to ring up the customer, and then proceeded to make her drink. All of this without washing her hands. It was just really gross. Been here multiple times and have to say the boba is very good and not to sweet and the drinks are always mixed well. The Thai tea slushy was a 10/10 and they have a variety of choices. Unfortunately, every time I have gone it takes forever. 45 minutes on average and there is usually something wrong mixed up with the order, like running out of something or putting in the wrong jelly. The best thing about Tapioca Express is the size of the cups. My total came out to almost $10 when I have order the same drink and it is never more than $5.80. The employees were super rude! If you've gone to other TapEx's this location is just like all the other locations, just different staff. Every time I go to this location, the workers are always professional and greet their customers with a smile. My boba always tastes great and have no complaints for that. I've ordered the crispy chicken several times and noticed that sometimes the chicken is hard/ too much spice (ordered to be made very mild) I don't know how often the oil from the deep fryer gets changed but maybe all the spices/seasonings get stuck in there and cooked onto the new batch of chicken getting put in. Sometimes I get several burnt/very hard pieces of chicken in my batch. Parking sucks but I know that so many other TapEx's have sucky parking anyways lol. My reasons for liking this place might differ from yours. 1. I love boba in general and TapEx is a franchise I'm familiar with. 2. I'm stationed at Pendleton and this is the closest TapEx 3.
